5 votesYou can enable Paste Remembers Layers in the panel’s menu to make Illustrator remember layers your objects were copied from and insert them on layers with same name when pasted. If these layers don’t exist, Illustrator will create them. Be careful and disable it when not needed, if might make a mess when not needed. Also note that with this option enable everything copied from an isolation mode creates a separate 'Isolation mode' layer, which is stupid — vote here if you think this should be addressed: https://illustrator.uservoice.com/forums/601447-illustrator-desktop-bugs/suggestions/37935496-paste-remembers-layers-bug-with-isolation-mode

Just click a circle marker next to Layer name in Layers panel to target the whole layer and apply your shadow (or other effects) — it would get applied to it.

An error occurred while saving the comment It's kind of weird idea. I understand why you want this. But 'Object' is not a unchangeable thing. I can cut segments, join them, move anchors — how would this reflect on 'object's' shear/rotation/scaling? What if I take rectangle (path in fact) and manually move it's anchors away from center, making it larger without scaling it? (I do this more often then scaling) And what if I try to 'reset scaling' then?
When I wish to control rotation after some time, I use 'Transform' effect. A lot of then, stacked. I also wish that I could combine interactivity of Rotate toll with an ability to edit rotation automatically. Like Some option for a toll would create this Effect for me. This can be done.
But your idea is just not that well-formed yet. You have my vote still. -

9 votesAs mentioned in comments, arrowheads are strangely the part of Appearance and not the basic stroke, and to get it copied you should tick 'Appearance' in Eyedropper tool settings (hit Enter when the tool is chosen). Then everything works. Please comment back if it does not for you.

Hi Everyone,
We have added this in January 2021 release (version 25.1).
Please see this link to know more: https://helpx.adobe.com/illustrator/using/repeat-patterns-desktop.html
You can update to the latest release using Creative Cloud desktop App: https://helpx.adobe.com/in/creative-cloud/help/creative-cloud-updates.html
Thank you for all the feedback
An error occurred while saving the comment Build a rig, as Margaet says (it provides realtime update), or buy MirrorMe, as you say. Don't turn AI into bloated version of itself with tools that already there.

You can align to an object you choose to be the key one.. Click the object you want to use as a key the second time and Ai will use a bolder edge to highlight it.
More details here:

An error occurred while saving the comment Just learn how to use key object setting by clicking one.
But I agree this is almost unlearnable — I've learnt this long-long ago, by accidentally misclicking an object, seeing a fat line and some experimenting (I never used Manual those days).
Please, don't make key base on order of selection. This would be a step back. -

An error occurred while saving the comment Snapping should work only when snapping is enabled. But snapping to bleed is a good idea.

Hello everyone,
Lately we have been thinking about improving the snapping / smartguide experience on Illustrator and we need your help in this process.
Please spare us some time of yours where we can come together on a online meeting and discuss your needs and pain point around snapping.

Thanks for reporting this bug Illustrator Team really appreciate this.
We are able to reproduce this issue in house and we are investigating it .An error occurred while saving the comment I see this sometimes too, but not in such huge scales.
How did you solve it for now? Separate shapes, stitched together? Migration to ID?
Check 'Paste remembers layers' in 'Layers' palette options. Use search in Internet too :)
Does it work for you in this way or not?
