It seems like it no longer happens, at least when I try... Can you confirm it?

Ah, you mean the brackets stay large and don’t get scaled depending on the zoom level (and font size too)?

I guess you mean the brackets, and the fact the top line is not vertical, while the end ones have a gap between them, correct?

Christoph, it seems like it doesn’t behave like this anymore, at least for me.
Can you try to reproduce it, on normal and large canvas?

Felix, can you tell if this behavior is still an issue with recent versions?
I’d say I’m having this occasionally, but not when using arithmetic operation, the cursor is mostly get placed at the end instead of selecting the value on pressing Tab. But rarely.

I am happy to share that we have fixed this bug in our latest release – 25.0 which is available worldwide now.

Going forward, our goal is to fix as many top User-Voice bugs as possible and as frequently as possible. Given the nature of the fixes, some of the bugs will take a longer time to fix, but we are on it.

You can update to the latest release using Creative Cloud desktop App: https://helpx.adobe.com/in/creative-cloud/help/creative-cloud-updates.html

Thank you for all the feedback. Keep it coming!

Hmm... I personally believe a 'smart' technology that tries something like this won’t ever be smart enough to never have mistakes, and therefore be perceived as stupid... sometimes or even most of times.
This brush doesn’t need anything like this, but just aligning endpoints at both sides. I tried to reproduce it, and it took me longer to match your image than to make sure the endpoints are at the same horizontal guide.
Plus I added a no-fill-no-stroke rectangle at the bottom to control the tile bounds.
The request still has merit — thanks for making it!

Free Distort works with live text alright, it stays live and surely distorted.. but only the effect, not the tool! As for the Perspective — indeed it gets outlined or just ignored, depending on the way you manipulate it.

I personally do jobs like this in Photoshop, using vector smart objects (link or embedded) wrapped in another smart objects, to allow perspective distortions. This is fluid enough workflow, and I prefer using Ps over Ai, because the photo is a raster image in the first place, and the result will be raster too. Ps allows much more control than Ai would ever have, even if this got implemented. Shadows, color correction, night and lighting and volume imitation..
I vote though, to have it noticed, because it's not that easy to work with perspective, and distortion options are limited.
Have you tried Illustrator’s Perspective tools for this job though, Claudio?

I can confirm it, although can’t instantly reproduce it from scratch.
I attached the original files (so they don’t get lost, WeTransfer had a limit on those).

When I tried to rotate one of the weird compound path with the bounding box the first time — the angle of the gradient didn’t change... but the second time I rotated it — it worked fine... Very odd. Thanks for the effort!

Take a look at this new bug with radial gradients, recently reported.
Can you reproduce it as well?

Do you get a crash reporter dialog? If yes — do you send the report? or is a silent crash?
Do you have third-party plugins installed? If yes — have you tried to temporarily remove them (please backup your workspace and Tool Panel presets first).
What about creating a new file and saving it — would it open fine? What about files saved in non-Beta builds?

Joseph, Toolbars are saved in their own file, separately form workspace ones.
Try to locate 'Tools Panel Presets' file (easy to do with amazing Everything Search on Windows, but it should be somewhere here: C:\Users\[username]\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Adobe Illustrator 29.7.0 Beta Settings\en_US\x64\Tools — the folder differs based on your configuration)
So when transferring these settings, make sure you copy both files.
Please comment back if it solves this!

Huang, does it happen with any text? Any font?
Can you share a test file, along with the font used (if you are allowed to share it)?
What are your Language Options chosen in Preferences > Type?
    Please tell more.

Have you tried to reset preferences? (Here’s how, just in case: https://helpx.adobe.com/illustrator/using/setting-preferences.html)
Have you tried to downgrade and check if it helps?
Do you have any third-party plugins installed? If yes — does it help to remove them temporarily form the Plugins folder (be warned though it can cripple you workspaces and tool panels if these are used there).
