    There are two related requests:
    1. Anchor point Smart Delete, http://illustrator.uservoice.com/forums/333657/suggestions/31559938 — actually doable today, with Delete Anchor Point Tool and Shift held (hardly a match for CorelDraw’s method)
    2. Add a way to quickly access Smart Delete Point command, http://illustrator.uservoice.com/forums/333657/suggestions/45689977 — a general request to expose it better now

This file was saved with the second window opened.
As stated here — https://helpx.adobe.com/illustrator/using/viewing-artwork.html#use_multiple_windows_and_views — 'You can open multiple windows of a single document at the same time. Each window can have different view settings.'
When saved, Ai would remember the windows opened and restore these on open.
You can notice the ':1' and ':2' in the titles in tabs.

If you close one and save the file, it should not appear the next time you open it... but in practice (and I think it’s a bug), Ai won’t write this change correctly unless you do anything else in the document. This should be fixed, I beleive.

    Does it explain anything?

As far as I know, Illustrator doesn’t offer a way to match zoom for opened documents (or their windowed views) natively...
    There’s a script I know that does it: https://aiscripts.com/match-zoom/
Do you mean it, or there is a secret native method I don’t know about? I have a feeling I remember something, but I bet it’s from another software completely.

This is something to be requested from the UserVoice team, at https://feedback.uservoice.com/forums/1-general-feedback

There are two, rather weak for now:
    https://feedback.uservoice.com/forums/1-general-feedback/suggestions/46225147-see-recently-viewed-ideas
    https://feedback.uservoice.com/forums/1-general-feedback/suggestions/49370804-dynamic-banner-to-promote-recently-launched-featur
but yours one is a bit different. I encourage you to log one and share the link here. Just so you know, it’d require a separate account.

The team tried to fix this in Beta 30.1.0.109. The latest one is 30.2.0.12.

If you can — please try to use Beta and see if no centers will be enabled or disabled when reopening a file. The fix won’t remove those that are already in a document, so we need to to toggle them manually in the Attributes panel.

Stéphanie, the team made some fixes to solve this problem in Beta 30.1.0.109. The latest one is 30.2.0.12.
It’s not yet clear if it was truly solved, so it needs some testing. I do remember you weren’t able to use Beta (although I forgot the reason).

I wouldn’t call it a 'tool' panel, since, it would contain no tools, but commands...
So do you men to just get an unfolded duplicate of the File menu as a panel, or a fully customizable panel with command as buttons? Are you aware of the Button Mode for Actions panel? I think it just does what you need.

Mark, yeah, trashing user settings is another problem...
Edit > My Settings > Export / Import Settings, which was added at some point to mitigate it, also does not work properly for some...

Even if the Ai team comes up with method to add custom commands as buttons in custom panels (to be able to have more than one Actions panel) — these would have to be backed up also.

I learnt to backup all settings manually.
Whenever I change actions, I save them via the panel’s flyout menu in a dedicated folder in my own cloud folder. If (when) these get dropped, I load it back.
Since all the different presets are located in different places (hotkeys, actions, tool panels, workspaces, etc.), some users create shortcuts to various folders (which also change, because major versions change!), some build .bat files.

Workarounds... but working in stock Ai is a masochistic violence. It makes more harm than making backups for settings. Don’t hurt yourself! :)

Mark, as for today Illustrator offers several ways to have these accessed faster:
    1. Assign a hotkey to each of these commands. Open Keyboard Shortcuts, locate these and assign something Ai would allow to use (there are restrictions).
    2. If you want specifically buttons, and not hotkeys, you can make actions instead. Fire up Actions panel, create a new action, record a command, stop recording, and once you are done, switch the panel into a button mode via its flyout menu. There, you have buttons — not exactly in the toolbar, but you can put the panel wherever you want.
    Does these work for you?

Recently Ai added the Snapping Quick Access Panel, placed in the top right corner of the Control panel.
It partially solves the problem, but:
    1. It requires having Control enabled, and at some point Ai decided to disable it by default in favor of Properties panel
    2. It has only snapping options and not other toggles
    3. It still requires a click to open, and there is no way to make it into a panel

Again, I repeat, put them at least where two existing indicators are., or even higher, where workspace dropdown is.

Thank you for reporting this issue and for the continued feedback from the community.

We have investigated this behavior and can confirm that the inability to switch input sources (e.g., Japanese IME) while a save dialog is active on macOS is due to a change in how Apple macOS handles input methods in modal contexts.

Starting with recent versions of macOS, Apple has changed the way input method switching is managed when certain system dialogs and panels are in focus. As a result, Illustrator's save dialog — which relies on native macOS sheet behavior — is affected by this platform-level constraint.

For reference, Apple's documentation on managing input sources on Mac can be found here:

    https://support.apple.com/en-am/guide/mac-help/mchl84525d76/26/mac/26

As this is a macOS platform behavior change outside of Illustrator's control, the recommended solution is to switch your input source before opening the Save dialog.

We appreciate your patience and understanding.

Does it work as expected in other apps? Adobe apps?
Was it working better before upgrading to Tahoe? before upgrading to Ai v30?

Here, I test it, tracing this zig-zag line by hand (with a mouse, don't judge!)
From to to bottom the fidelity rises... and the step 2 feels VERY smooth, almost like the last one.

Indeed, the almost-accurate setting (2) feels like too smooth compared to the middle one (3). All others I try feels adequate...
    Thank for the report!

UserVoice has temporary (I hope) problems with attaching .ai files :(
It was reported here — https://feedback.uservoice.com/forums/1-general-feedback/suggestions/50728085-uv-forbids-to-attach-ai-illustrator-files — but upvoting it would require setting up a new account, so I can’t ask you to do it, really.

In the mean time, use the email I mentioned below — sharewithai@adobe.com (again, with this report’s link mentioned, http://illustrator.uservoice.com/forums/601447/suggestions/50201670)

Screenshots won’t be enough, sadly... Please package the original file (with fonts included, if possible) and send it over to sharewithai@adobe.com, so the team can investigate what goes wrong with it: objects, fonts, styles, etc. Mention the link to this report for faster tracking also — http://illustrator.uservoice.com/forums/601447/suggestions/50201670

When I test it, the harmony colors are always linked (even if I pressed the 'Unlink harmony color' button in the previous Recolor session). Ai seems to always link these when the dialog is launched... But Steve says these are UNlinked for them, if I understand it correctly...

And you, Jane, want to limit the selected colors to a particular swatch library by default, right?

Both requests are about either making all settings in the dialog sticky, or with additional presets (and since many choices in the windows are custom, these would only be partial)...

I persoanlly want to make the Color Reduction Options sticky. At the moment, White and Black are always preserved... and when I change it, the change sticks between Recolor sessions, across documents even... but not between Ai launches!
