We have done further updates to Dimension tool with recently released version - 28.3
You can create and use your custom scale for dimension, hide or show units on dimensions and dimensions are now sticky to the object - they transform as well when you transform the object.

The most recent version finally has the Object > Distribute menu added.
Now both Align and Distribute commands can be accessed via menu and have assigned keyboards shortcuts to them.
The order of the commands though seemingly matches the one the panel has: horizontal first for Align and vertical first for Distribute. If you find this odd and want to change it — vote here: https://illustrator.uservoice.com/forums/333657-illustrator-desktop-feature-requests/suggestions/45855823-sync-the-order-of-align-and-distribute-menu-comman
Also, Align To and Distribute Spacing commands are still missing in top menus, so please keep voting here to make them added too.
An error occurred while saving the comment Jeffrey Guy commentedIt is such a WASTE of TIME using the align menu with the mouse. It would be SO Much faster to use SINGLE KEY short cuts to align objects. IE 'W' to align to Top, "X' to align to Bottom, 'A' To align Left, 'D' to align Right ETC.
We have to make illustrator leaner, meaner and FASTER!
Thanks
JG

Latest versions of Illustrator can do that.
If you have the bounding box enabled, double-click the bottom filled square handle to toggle Auto Size.
You can also do that in Area Type Options dialog.
An error occurred while saving the comment Jeffrey Guy commentedIt would be nice if the selection area of text did NOT extend beyond the limits of the text itself. There is an invisible 'window' around text that will select the text when this are is clicked. It also aligns to the invisible window when aligning to other objects. Would like this are to be removed, so it is easier to select things around or near text.
Have NO idea what the purpose of this area is...Jeffrey Guy supported this idea · -

When moving the file tabs at the top it would be nice to be able to place them wherever you want without trying to carefully stay in the bounds of the tabs. If you move the mouse to high or too low when trying to move a file tab, it dumps it at the far right side. Of course you should be able to auto order the top file tabs by filename, size, dat or whatever you want.
