Hi,
Thanks for the information provided to the Illustrator team.
We are able to reproduce this issue at our end and the engineering team is currently isolating this issue further to get to the root cause. With Best Regards,

Adobe Illustrator's Multithreading Journey Begins!
Dear Illustrator Community,
I'm thrilled to announce that we've embarked on an exciting journey to bring multithreading capabilities to Adobe Illustrator. This significant undertaking will enhance performance and responsiveness across various aspects of the application.
While this is a complex process that will take some time to fully implement, I wanted to share our progress so far.
Our Approach
We've strategically begun by focusing on the most computationally intensive operations—those that typically take more time and block the main thread, resulting in slower response times while you work. By moving these operations to separate threads, we aim to significantly improve your overall experience with Illustrator.
It's important to note that you may see more noticeable impact in some areas than others initially. However, we want to assure you that this is just the beginning, and we will continue this journey to bring improvements across…

An error occurred while saving the comment Mike Boruta commentedThis is happening to me to. It is reproducible. I'm using AI 27.8.1 on M2 Mac with Ventura 13.5.
I open Illustrator, create new blank file, click on the "Color Guide" palette, click on any of the non-default harmony rules, and Illustrator crashes instantly.Mike Boruta supported this idea · -

Hi ,
The bug will be fixed when PS is upgraded to the latest version 22.3.1 . Kindly update PS to 22.3.1 and Bridge to the latest version. If the issue still happens, kindly reset your Settings in both PS and Bridge.

I will have everything synchronized to North America General Purpose 2 and then if I cmd-tab from Photoshop to Illustrator then Illustrator switches the color settings to "Emulate Adobe Illustrator 6.0". I had to switch to an older version of Illustrator in order to keep working without losing my mind.

I have to keep an old version of Illustrator on my machine, just for that task. That's not a good solution. Improvements have been made since the "new" tool was first released, but it still doesn't work as well as the old tool. In fact, it just crashed Illustrator on me. :(
An error occurred while saving the comment Mike Boruta commentedI just had this completely mess up a workflow today. Please bring back the old Simply tool and maybe implement a "legacy" option alongside the new tool? I work with NatGeo and use Illustrator to make maps. Oftentimes when vector data is brought in from a GIS program there are way too many anchor points in the lines. This is especially true with elevation contour lines. Previously, I would use the simplify and set it to 99%, which would remove enough points to keep the computer from bogging down but also retain the shape of the contour lines. Now with the new tool even using the "minimum" setting under "simplify curve" the shape of the contour lines changes way too much and this tool is essentially unusable now. For me, and the others who have commented here, this is a major issue and a removal of functionality! I don't see any other workaround other than to install an old version of Illustrator...and that is not a good workaround.

I'm not sure if this will help, but I just discovered a very handy plugin for duplicating objects with one keystroke. It doesn't use the clipboard and very efficiently duplicates whatever you have selected and places it on top. Perhaps you could use this to duplicate your text, and then the arrow keys to move the text?
Here's a link to the plugin:
