Slow Type Performance

I just recently updated to 22.1 running on Windows 10. I have a list of names that was copied from two columns (first name, last name) that was copied from an Excel spreadsheet. I'm trying to remove the tabs between the columns and replace them with spaces. Once I hit the backspace key it takes approximately 5 seconds to perform the backspace and another couple of seconds to add the space. This is a list of several hundred names so it is unmercifully crippling. Other operations outside of type are somewhat laggy but not nearly as bad. I cleared out all of my nonessential fonts already, restarted my machine, and the problem still persists. I'm not seeing performance issues in any of my other programs. I tried closing all documents and pasting the text onto a new doc all by itself and still get the same thing. This is seriously leaving me hamstrung on a time sensitive project.

    Hello, I've noticed some very slow response while typing in Illustrator 28.7.1 (paragraph text), specifically each time I'm using the backspace.

    My system is macOS Sequoia 15.0.1 / mac studio m2 max

    In my opinion, in 23.0.3 the problem is still unresolved.
    At first glance everything seems fine, but when we work at high magnification (>1200%) and the overprint preview option is enabled, text editing is almost impossible.

    When overprint is turned off, everything works ok.

    All you have to do is create a new document. Write anything. Zoom approx. 1400% and with the overprint preview option enabled, try to select, edit the text or try to change it.

    I'm currently running version 23.0.1 and the issue has not replicated on this build.

    Iv'e just updated to 23.0.3 and opened a 700Mb file and the issued is not replicated. I suspect that this is an issue with an old build that has since been updated.

    I uninstalled all versions of Illustrator and re-installed the latest version, which seemed to fix the problem. Thank you!

    We are unable to reproduce this issue in house.

    Can you help the Illustrator team to isolate this issue further so that we can nail this down?
    If yes, then please let me know the following:
    1) Is this Issue still happening on your machine on Latest version 23.0.3 ? Is this issue happening on the particular file or also reproducible on the New Document?
    2) Kindly provide some video , Test file(Via File->Package) & some steps with which you are facing this issue and share with us.
    3) Are you also facing this issue in Outline Mode?
    4) Kindly turn your Network Off & Icould off, Repeat your steps with which you are facing issue and share your finding with us are you still facing the same issue?
    5) Is this issue also reproducible on previous version of Ai i.e. 22.1 , Adobe Illustrator CC 2018?
    6) Which operating system you are using Windows or Mac and Which OS version ?
    Kindly provide your system information :
    Win:
    In the Run window, enter msinfo32 and click OK to open the System Information window.
    In the System Information window, choose File > Save.
    Save the file in .NFO format on the desktop and share with us
    Mac:
    Click on Apple Icon->About this Mac->System Information
    File->Save , Save the file and share with us.

    Kindly share the requested information at ShareWithAI@adobe.com in a Zip file.

    @o8o4 That would make sense. There is some advice on checking GPU performance in the Performance Tab of the Preferences.
    Checking the Overprint Preview of the Separations Preview would be much more taxing on the GPU. Next time I get a slow down I will mess around with the setting and see what happens.

    The same for me. The only thing that I noticed was that it happens with the overprint option turned on. When overprint is switched off, everything works as it should. (iMac 2017, OSX 10.14.3, Illustrator 23.0.2)

    I recently update Adobe Illustrator CC to the latest version (CC 2019) and the type tool is painfully slow. Every time I try to use it, I get 15-20 seconds of the pinwheel before the cursor shows up. Once the tool is finally activated, everything takes a prolonged amount of time (5-10 seconds to type a letter, etc.) Thanks for any help.

    Ever since I updated to Illustrator CC 2019 I get a consistent HEAVY lag while trying to edit any type, when I first type some thing out it's fine but once I have to edit that same type it lags big time.

    ANY HELP!! would be greatly appreciated.

    Basically, everything associated with type is incredibly slow. I'm trying to revert back to 22.0 now.
