The solution is pushed into Global Availability build 28.6.
The Previewed Page is now the default option for the dialog.

Opening a multi-page PDF still trips me up after more than two decades of using Illustrator because InDesign’s way is more intuitive. In InDesign the previewed page is by default the page that gets imported. This option does not exist in Illustrator but I think this is actually how you would expect the dialogue to work. WYSIWYG would be highly appreciated. See a comparison of the dialogues below. In this example InDesign imports page 6 out of 8 while Illustrator will obviously open page 1 despite previewing page 6 – not fully intuitive.

Reading the help files about text to vector I would have expected to find the pattern functionality also in the Contextual Task Bar. I think users would benefit from also having access to the pattern creation there.
Also you could adopt the icons for scene, subject and icon as you already implemented this for the pattern in fill and stroke drop down.

The latest Beta 28.8.0.37 now has this function back.
You can enable the mode using a button in Control Panel or in Properties, with the Artboard tool picked.
The option automatically enables Scale Strokes & Effects option temporarily.
As always, you can hold Shift to resize proportionally.

The latest Beta 28.5.0.78 allows manual dimensions to stick to arbitrary points and recalculate correctly when objects are repositioned or transformed — just as we expected it to. This includes gaps also.
Please try it and see if it works for all the cases you have and comment back.

It only says “Illustrator” on my end running Sonoma 14.2. German version of macOS and Illustrator.
