  1. Choose .pdf magnification seeting in Illustrator not Acrobat

    When saving .ai file as .pdf the added option to choose the .pdf magnification at the save as pdf settings stage, instead of having to do this in Acrobat properties.

  2. Separating Swatches/Color for Objects and Tools?

    Insanely enough that Illustrator still not able to distinct in betweet color swatches for selected objects/paths and swatches for tools (Brushes, Live Paint, Paint Bucket, etc.) are you nuts guys?

  3. Set Default File/Place Folder Location

    Right now, AI doesn't offer the ability to change what folder opens up when you File/Place. It always go to the last used. Could we have an option to change it to where the opened file is? (I think PS offers this already).

    why is there no illustrator workspace file location? i need to control workspaces that i save as the way they are currently handled is rubbish. why cant i save the workspace as a file? please make this possible

  5. Make Limited color palette in Image Trace allow more than 30 colors

    Why is "Limited" Color Palette restricted to 30 colors? I often need a few hundred but not as many as Automatic gives. And Automatic would be great if the Color Slider actually worked proportionally but it randomly goes from over 1000 colors to less than 30 or some unsatisfying number, not the smooth curve one would expect. Therefore I have to use the superior Live Trace feature on my old Mac with CS on it. Either lift the restriction on Limited or make Automatic perform according to the slider.

  6. Support for Radeon VII (eGPU) in mac OS Catalina

    Allow illustrator GPU performance to support the AMD Radeon VII graphics card in an eGPU enclosure. I use the GPU to accelerate my performance on a larger 5k 32" monitor and it would be really useful if Illustrator could make use of the GPU.

  7. Shift key to draw lines by understanding the direction I want it to go

    I have used AI for 20+ years and a lot of little things could use improving.

    One of them is the shift-line coding that makes a straight line when you hold the shift key down. More times than not, the line is drawn in a direction I did not intend and I have to keep redoing. I am assuming that the software registers the first micro millimeters of a direction I am going in instead of understanding that 99.9999% of the momentum of my cursor is in a DIFFERENT direction.

  8. Guide Colors to match Layer Colors

    Guides are already assigned to different layers. When a layer is locked, that guide is locked, even if you "Unlock Guides".

    It would make a lot of sense, and be very helpful, if guides were the same color as the layer they are attached to.

    I run into many instances when guides are very close to each other and I'm not sure which guide I should be trying to align to, so I have to take the time to figure it out. It gets frustrating quickly, especially when trying to edit multiple layers together. If guides were the same color…

  9. Command Line

    As a frequent user of a diversity of software (like AutoCAD, SketchUp and so on), I noticed that Illustrator is very time demanding and the workflow isn't great. Sometimes to do a simple command I need to click 4 times throughout menus and windows (actually I already have tendinitis because of the need to keep repeating a lot of clicks to do a simple command in IL, as other software I don't have the same problem).
    So a command line (a simple and smart one like AutoCAD) will be great and will improve the time to create stuff in illustrator.…

  10. New symbol info window should retain properties of previously created symbol

    When creating a new symbol, it should remember not only the export type, but the symbol type and registration as well, instead of having it default to dynamic-center every time. Usually when creating symbols, they are of the same type as the last. This is how Flash handled symbols way back in the day and it was an invaluable time saver for projects containing dozens of clips (such as site plan artwork).

  11. Copy and Paste text from Email or web to Illustrator

    It's very annoying that we cannot copy text from email or from the web and paste into illustrator, Why? Whenever I need, which is a lot, I have to paste into Photoshop, so I can copy and paste into Illustrator. I always receive text from clients through mail. Does not make any sense. Please could you fix this?

  12. Area and perimeter information on every selected object

    Area and perimeter information on every selected object.
    It was available on CS3 version for exemple and it was very helpful for us architects.
    The window was called CAD tracker and the geometry part was super practical.
    Please, include it in the new version !!

  13. Change case in right click

    Change case short cut should be on right click, when we working with magazine, book then it hard to go to type tool and select change case, but if this feature add then it easy to use, thanks

  14. CC Libraries: Add ability to drag new assets directly into a Library Group

    Currently, any asset dragged to the libraries panel gets added to the Ungrouped section. Let's narrow the focus down and let us drop into any one of the displayed groups.

    This would save immeasurable amounts of time having to hunt down and sort after the fact.

  15. Make Document Color Mode menu available to set up as an action

    Make Document Color Mode a recordable action. I have to edit lots of files and they all have to be CMYK. If I forget one, it will look horrible on our website and we might never notice it. It would help a lot if color mode could be set up as an action.

    If you choose a color from the color picker in Photoshop, it will show you the nearest equivalent in the Pantone library.

  17. Editable stroke profiles

    Add a robust window where you can non-destructively edit the stroke profile (maybe with Bezier handles). This would allow users to taper strokes beyond the good but limited presets in real time.

  19. Rearrange expanded layers without collapsing

    When a layer has sublayers and/or it is expanded, it is currently impossible to drag a new layer below the expanded layer without collapsing it because the new layer is automatically made a sublayer of that expanded layer. The opposite works - new layers can be placed above even when not collapsed. Being able to see desired sublayers or content and arrange in both directions would be ideal.

  20. Include Photoshop's Gamut Warning feature

    Photoshop has a great feature that, in the color picker, greys out any colors unavailable in CMYK. This makes choosing appropriate colors for a project much faster and easier. It would be nice if Illustrator had this same functionality.
