Clip to Artboard selection before rendering Preview
When I have a large project with many artboards and I want to export just one, I always have to wait for the entire project to render before I can select Clip to Artboard. If however, there was a dialog box asking clip to the artboard or not before rendering the preview, it would save the time of rendering a preview that isn't always necessary.

Show "proxy" preview on placed PDF files instead of hi-res
Just like you have "proxy" link for placed Photoshop.eps files - apply the same feature for PDFs. When PDFs are placed in IL as links, no-one needs hi-res preview of PDFs which causes super sluggish performance of IL. Anything you do in IL, is being slow cause that hi-res preview is on all the time. This feature allows you to place super big files (gigabytes) and handle them with ease. I just wish you can do this with PDF. All Adobe needs to do is use PDF thumbnail (option).

Possibility to open AI and PDF files in AI
I am working on color files for shoes using Illustrator in multi-page. It would be great if I wouldn't have to share the files.
But we are several people using the files, with different versions of AI, or for some of us only Acrobat.
So what happens very often and drives me crazy is that I can't open files (incl my own) in multi page, and even if I can open page by page (and waste a lot of time putting them back together) it is with a lot of clipping masks created by the app and which make it…2 votes -
An ability to mark some layers to get rasterized when exporting PDF
It will be great if we can choose some layers to be auto rasterized when exporting to pdf. I keep very complex paterns in a different layer and always need to manually rasterize it to get a light pdf and error free on Rip software.

Export just one artboard in 1-2 clicks
I want to be able to QUICKLY select an artboard as PNG, or JPG and export with 1-2 clicks. Ideally one click. Not the current 10-30 clicks

Respect 'Decimal Places' setting in CSS values exported to SVG
The "Decimal Places" setting in the SVG Options (export) dialog is not respected in style elements.
Steps to repro:
New Document
Create a rectangle with Stroke 3.1459
Create a new graphic style from the rectangle.
Save As... Choose SVG
In SVG Options, set Decimal Places:1 and CSS Properties as Style Elements
Examine SVG Code
Look at the 'stroke-width' value in the stylesheet.
Expected behavior: Stroke width should have 1 decimal only

Illustrator file not movable
If i make an Illustrator file (cc 2019) , and say place it in the desktop folder, if i move that file to the documents folder, open it and change it, it saves the new version on the dekstop again.
is this a bug or a feature i dont know of?
2 votesIt’s a common behavior for all files and all editors out there, not only Illustrator.
When you 'open' a file, the editor reads it and 'hold in its mind', making a virtual copy basically. When you save it, it writes it back the disk, to the location where it was read from. Illustrator does not track what the OS does with the file, and OS never tells Illustrator that a user moved the file elsewhere, or deleted.
An editor can lock the file, so nothing can move or delete or rename it, but this method causes more troubles and frustration. It’s safer to never let the data to get lost.

Updating to 2019 makes illustrator useless - downloads tons of data upon saving a file
My workflow requires opening and saving AI files with large linked pictures, stored on off-site server with low bandwidth (around 5-6 MB/s). The linked files can be big, several GB in size. When I try to save my AI, it freezes and starts downloading at full speed of the off-site storage and downloads 2-3GB of data before it saves the AI. None of previous versions had this issue/feature. It is a big deal for our company, because we work approximately 1 hour on each AI and now just saving it takes 5-10min. We need to open the AI (sometimes it…

Please fix "colour changing of vector elements between illu and ps"
If you Copy/Paste vector objects - saving it to a library - from Illustrator to Photoshop causes a marignal colour change. That's pretty annoying and has to be fixed immidiatley, thx!

Export PSD from Illustrator
Could you please help me to improve your product. I want to export PSD from Illustrator that can keep the shape and I can edit the color of this shape on photoshop. Now when I export PSD, all the shapes are rasterized. Because I usually design the website on illustrator. After that, I export to Photoshop. And I use this photoshop to upload to Invision. So that I need the shape is original.

Ability to import from Adobe Draw on iPad as a path/line and not a filled shape.
Quite an essential thing to be able to export sketches from Adobe Draw as STROKES (editable paths/lines) instead of a filled shape, which is not readily editable in AI.

I cannot see my file when I open it into Illustrator. The app opens but the file is hidden.
I cannot open my files into Illustrator. I try to open it but the app launches but no file is visible. I try to "Open file…" and it says that it is already opened. I cannot see it. I can only see it if I go to "Arrange" and "Float windows". This is a new issue.

Suppress "Do you want Illustrator to save changes the in xyz.ai before closing" dialogue
Suppress the "Do you want Illustrator to save changes the in xyz.ai before closing" dialogue (or indeed all such questions). If I want to save it first I'll save it first. Please, answering this 'helpful'(stupid) dialogue box question a million times a year is killing me! I'll take my chances that I lose some work one day.

[BUG] xmpMM:DocumentID isn't unique at creation stage
When you create new documents, they all share the same XMP documentID value while you would expect it's unique for every single new document.
Saving the document solves the issue but it means one can't rely on documentID uniqueness while the document isn't saved.
It needs to be unique at the creation stage already.2 votes

Moving as a feature request. We generate an unique value only on file save. When you create a file it inherits all the attributes of the preset it uses. This is the reason you see the same uuid each time you create the document,

wrong asset export folder android
Asset export for android , create sub-folder create folder 1x, 2x, 3x... which is for iOS . it should be drawable-xxxhdpi sub-folder following android guideline.

Asset export has a feature to create folders on scale factors. The suffix that you are expecting as part of the foldername is not built. I am moving this as a feature request.

Return / make optional ability to indicate subfolders in artboard name / path
In previous versions it was possible to make name of artboard as "folder/subfolder/artboardname" and while export it would reproduce whole hierarchy of subfolders.
It was super nice for organizing assets.
Now it saves file in base directory and replaces "/" with "-".
Maybe we can put this option to settings so that people may continue to use it.2 votes -

Preview for file name with prefix and suffix when exporting for screens
I have three requests about Prefix for filenames -
1. Move it to a more prominent area where it's visible. Sometimes it's pre-populated because of previous exports, but since it's too small and not located anywhere around the artboards, it's very easy to miss it and end up with wrong file names.
2. Make it bigger. Most prefixes have at least two words and the current input doesn't accommodate it. I have to manually scroll through the complete thing with the keyboard. Not very useful.
3. Show a preview of complete file name(s) including prefix and suffix. Right now there's…2 votes
