default units
I am currently using the 2020 version and i would like to have inches as the default unit. It is not available on this version. I had to contact customer support and they only way is keep documents in inches is when i open a new doc and each time i have to change the unit. There should be a way to have all my docs set up as inches under Units. So general and type in inches and stroke in points is what i would like to see.

Ability to reset rulers' origin to upper left in actions
Ability to reset origin to upper left in actions. Currently done manually by clicking on the rulers, but would be good to be able to include that in an action.

Image fitting options like Indesign, Sketch and Figma
Would really be handy to have fit to crop, resize to crop etc. for linked images.

Ability to sort the font list(s) in Find Fonts dialog box
It would be helpful if the fonts in the Find Fonts dialog box could be sorted alphabetically. In my case, I am trying to consolidate all the various helvetica fonts that are being used in a large document to one foundry. As it is, they are all over the place, I think sorted by first use? but it would be helfpuf if I could sort by name, that way all my helveticas will be close to each other. Regardless, if the could be sorted that would be handy.

Add "don't show again" option to error dialog for hidden and locked objects when moving or copying artboard
I am now noticing a error dialog appearing when I try to move or copy an artboard when any layer in the document is hidden or locked that says "Any hidden or locked objects in the artboards will not be moved." This is also appearing if I have any elements locked or hidden even when those objects are not on the artboard I am interacting with.
Normally this would be fine, but when the artboard contains only unlocked and visible elements on unlocked and visible layers I am still seeing the error popping every time I move or copy an artboard. I really just want to be able to check "don't show this error again" on the window. Otherwise when breaking a design apart into multiple artboards for exporting elements, I have to clear this error many times.

Streamline the Fresco To Illustrator Export Process
Like many I use Illustrator for its Vector properties in order to animate within After Effects, with the agility to scale up assets infinitely when clients change their minds about shots & movements.
iPads Adobe Draw, meant my assets could become so much more detailed. Which was great! While the push to desktop feature was glitchy for me at best it still mostly resulted with having a neat AI file version of the Draw one. That I could Import into AE with ease. Update with ease. etc.
It's also useful that I can bring in AI assets to PS as smart objects & add textures etc. while still retaining some agility to scale the asset up if need be.
So when Fresco came along with the ability to have vector & bitmap layers in one document, all on my iPad i was so excited.
However I'm disappointed that it only comes up as an option for me to open within PS. Even when the layers are saved as smart objects, I have just wasted my morning trying to understand how changing the colour of my smart object in AI, then moves it's anchor point within PS. Moving all my colour work out of sync with my line work & shade work etc.
I was excited to tell a client that his colour change requests wouldn't take very long and am now so genuinely shocked at how clunky this process has become.
The suggested option of saving the Fresco file as a PDF to open in Illustrator is not sufficient.
Even when not using just bitmaps it flattens my layers and makes unnecessary clipping masks, which make even slight alterations in AI a nightmare.
Furthermore, all my layers are now named - clipping mask.
Would much prefer an option to save to AI & have my bitmaps be smart objects & retain my layer hierarchy etc.
Please & Thank you.

Bring back right-click Opacity Mask
Remember when you could right click and select 'Opacity Mask'?
Yeah, those were the days. The process is twice as long now unless you have the 'transparency' window as a permanent fixture in your workspace.

spark icons in illustrator
With the icons in Adobe Spark being free to use, and especially now that we have the ability to save files from Spark as a PDF, I've found myself utilizing the iconset from Spark in Illustrator (across Adobe CC really) by creating a blank document, inserting icons, saving as PDF, opening in Illustrator.
It would be awesome if this process could be streamlined with the icons from Spark possibly being added to Illustrator, Photoshop, etc. Possibly from an addon, or by adding a new live and constantly updated set of symbols similar to how Adobe Fonts has been incorporated into the CC suite.

fix the Layers palette; modernize it.
The layers Palette in Illustrator Predates most Design apps out there. Because of that, many of its behaviors are critically out dated and in great need of a top - bottom update.
some critical things to fix:
1. Selection tracking should be unified. Selecting in the Layers palette should ALSO select the elements in the document. Throw away the confusing 2nd step there.naming. make it more flexible. IE: add built in options for the renaming that occurs when you copy a Layer. Add the ability to rename selected layers with one text entry. Add to that, a simple Scripting system that allows a search and replace, append/prepend command. You could invoke that when multiple layers are selected and then double clicked in the layer palette.
stop blocking the user from performing actions on layers that are hidden. We're not stupid, and YES, we want to do that.

Same Place shortcut key as in After Effects
Why not use the same shortcut key as After Effects for 'placing' images i.e.. Apple or CTRL 'i'. Using the 'Shift' CTRL P is awkward. Photoshop should also have the same shortcut key. Different shortcuts for different Adobe programs slow downs users.

When entering colour values Illustrator searches your currently open swatch book for the same values.
So for example if you are doing a CMYK colour, once you've put in the values it comes up with a "suggested swatch" option that has the same values or even suggests swatches with similar/close values.

Export for Screens: Option to include file- and artboard-name automatically.
Ok the "Export for Screen" option is kind of nice, however it takes far too long to set everything up....
- The areas to type in are far too small.
- Automation is week a. where can define that all images will get the file name of the original *.AI file. b. why does it keep the old folder location? Set an option to export is where the original *.AI-file is located. c. Where are some presets? Wouldn't it be awesome to have some user-defined presets? It would be.
- The images are to small
- There are to many clicks, like when I want to change the transparency of an *.png-file: 1st click -> seetings 2nd-click -> choosing png 3rd-click -> Background color 4th-click -> Transparent 5th-click -> Save Settings That are 4 clicks too much.
- How do I export one png-version as transparent and one with white background?
Contact me if you like.

Text moves when adjusting an applied Text Effect...
When you apply Arc (or any other text effect) to text, then adjust the percentage of Arc, the text moves up. You have to reposition the text to where it was... Inconvenient when you're trying to warp the text around an existing object. Would be ideal if the text would stay in place when the effect is adjusted.

Allow dragging multiple selected layers from one file to another
Allow dragging multiple selected layers from one Illustrator file to another (as in Photoshop) w/o exporting them or needing to depend on Paste Remember Layers, but let the drag behavior drop the layered artwork into the other file with a Paste in Place feature.

Uniform Transform in AI as in Ps
Why do you have to hold Shift in Illustrator but not in Photoshop to do a uniform transform? Why did you guys have to switch that in 2020? Do you know how much you are messing with my head? I regret upgrading so bad (yes I just upgraded this week).

Don't snap to where I'm dragging from.
Even when I turn on snapping, if I drag an object away from it's location, I want the object to not end up in it's old location. Otherwise I would not have started dragging it.
Therefore, stop making the original location available a snap target. As a movement / cardinal direction target, sure. Not as a "return to where you're from" target, this makes no sense.

Double-click of text should not select trailing space on macOS
On macOS, When using double-click to select a word in a text object, Illustrator is also selecting any trailing space. That is a common Windows behavior, but shouldn't be that way on macOS. Double-click should just select a the word (no surrounding whitespace).

Fix synch with Google Drive
Fix the software to be able to save files to Google Drive. Currently if I save over an existing file hosted on Google Drive the new version does not save (if I quit the software, then try and open the file, only the original save/creation file loads, not the most recent version, which results in the loss of work).

Shut the blue survey pop up!
We paid so much for monthly subscription, and this is what we get? I searched all over the web, and there's no way to shut this thing off? Are you kidding me? The adobe softwares are getting more ******. What are the engineers doing anyway? CS6 works a hundred times better than this.

Creative Cloud Documents - File Management
I think one of the most important facilities for making good use of Cloud Docs will be document management. I have been extremely frustrated by the total lack of such features in the recent Document Open interface, which just lists some very small number of recent docs, without any consideration of folders, projects, clients, or other important organizational features. The OS provides us with hierarchical folders that can do a fairly good job of organizing the dozens (sometimes hundreds) of files on a project or for a client, but without some facilities for that purpose, I can see the proliferation of dozens (hundreds?) of cloud docs, now encompassing multiple Adobe applications, turning into a nightmare of disorganization.
The basis of any file management system has to be the provision and support of metadata. This probably will require sidecar files, or at least a central Adobe db of filenames and attributes. The simplest facility would be allowing users to create open-ended KEY WORDS for individual files, since that doesn't have to involve a hierarchical database. Files can be tagged by project, by in-house creator, by client contact name, by client company, or anything else that helps.
Here's an example I deal with every day -- (admittedly from InDesign, not Ai)
For one client, I an designing a book interior: graphics, layout, typesetting, etc. Since it's a 500-page volume, I use separate InDesign files for each of its 55 chapters. After performing an operation on the "book" (metadata managed in InDesign), every chapter file is modified. So from then on, all I ever see in the Document Open interface is the last 30 chapter titles. This is absolutely useless! What I need to see is the files I'm working on for other clients, other projects for this client, the chapters I'm currently most concerned with, and so on.
Please consider these issues as you develop further facilities in support of Adobe Cloud Documents.
