Freeform gradient live update option
While live update is a nice thing to have (we still wait until you make all draggable art live updated), it's still not very fast.
Please make an option to turn off live update for freeform gradients, so a fill would update only when you release fill points.3 votes -

Auto convert from ft. to in. missing from cc2019
I added my forum to make sure it wasn't a setting.
There was a feature in cc2019 that allowed me to convert ft. to in. automatically in illustrator. This made my workflow a lot easier because I didn't have to think about the conversion it just did it for me automatically.
I'm not sure why this was removed in cc2020, but can we get it back please???

Anchor point lasso tool and manipulation suite.
click to create a selection area on a selected object(s). Scale, translate and rotate selected anchor points.
This would save lots of time when working with pre-existing artwork or if you draw something and notice afterword a certain part in too small, to big or a little out of position. Some of this is already available but require manual selection or the selection in question to be a square.

Turn Off Typographers Quotes - Always Off & Stay Off - Forever Off
Hello I use Illustrator for about 85% of my work.
Primarily I'm doing UI Design and Planning Documents - this work is 100% online there is no print work.Typographers Quotes are a terrible thing for this workflow. The quotes are always messed up, it's always a ton of clicking to get rid of them and you have to do it a million times over every time you make a new document.
Also Typographers quotes means you can't rough out ideas around code in Illustrator because it a copy/paste mess.
The request is to have a setting as part of your creative cloud identity which means you do no print work and never want to see typographers quotes.
Sounds like a small thing but it is a major deal and time sync from producing quality work quickly in Illustrator...
Thanks for the help.

Add scale and mirror to Transform window
In the Transform window (Windows > Transform), I see rotate and shear, but not scale or mirror. I want those for several reasons:
— I want a single place for doing all transform operations, without having to go to the menu
— I don't want to have to remember different key codes for scale, rotate, mirror, etc
— I want to be able to percentage scale from the bottom right corner (for example), using the 9-square selector3 votes -
Update links manually
Illustrator is constantly reading linked files, checking for changes. This is normally not a problem, but when the network is slow for any reason (like if you're working remotely over VPN) AI becomes unusable. Simple text changes become an ordeal as every time you switch tools or click anywhere, you have to wait for a minute or two as the links do... whatever they're doing. A simple panel-level option to turn off automatic link updates would make working remotely (which some say is the way of the future) much less painful.

multicore useage
I'm surprised to see that AI doesn't take advantage of multiple-cores. Can we do something about this? Even viewing in wireframe mode doesn't seem to speed things up by much. Or perhaps AI can take better advantage of the GPU??

Gray hash marks and numbers against a black background for rulers
Gray hashmarks against a black ruler may be fashionable, but they are hard to see when aligning text and objects, or even measuring objects. How about a white ruler with black hashmarks, and a black curser?

improve the 'this file is currently being saved' pop up window
The way this was implemented is stupid.
That pop up window you get when you try to close the window while it's still saving. Why doesn't it automatically go away when the file has finished saving, instead of being persistent for no reason.
Just make it work the same way as indesign with just a cancel button.

Stroke [Round Cap - corner radius settings] for individual corner options per corner
Stroke Round Cap corner radius settings for individual corner options per corner.
Similar to the rounded rectangle corner radius options, each dash on a dashed stroke line looks like an obvious candidate for corner radius options.

When I go to resize a vector, it rotates it. Bug with latest update.
I think the new update did this. If I work very carefully I can eventually get it to resize.

Set Default File/Place Folder Location
Right now, AI doesn't offer the ability to change what folder opens up when you File/Place. It always go to the last used. Could we have an option to change it to where the opened file is? (I think PS offers this already).

Allow Panels to have user-defined background colors
For all adobe products: there are many many panels all the same gray color background. If the panels had colors, one could work faster. I could always use blue as my Type-panel background for all my adobe applications. When I need to work with type, I could find the type panel more quickly if it was blue instead of one of the 10 gray panels on the monitor.
Would let designers work faster and more efficiently (time is money)

Make Limited color palette in Image Trace allow more than 30 colors
Why is "Limited" Color Palette restricted to 30 colors? I often need a few hundred but not as many as Automatic gives. And Automatic would be great if the Color Slider actually worked proportionally but it randomly goes from over 1000 colors to less than 30 or some unsatisfying number, not the smooth curve one would expect. Therefore I have to use the superior Live Trace feature on my old Mac with CS on it. Either lift the restriction on Limited or make Automatic perform according to the slider.

Align two points
The "Align" tool works on lines with 3 or more points. Sometimes, when working with two-point line segments, the end-points get vertically or horizontally out of line. Can you make the "Align" tool work on two-point lines, as well?

Support for Radeon VII (eGPU) in mac OS Catalina
Allow illustrator GPU performance to support the AMD Radeon VII graphics card in an eGPU enclosure. I use the GPU to accelerate my performance on a larger 5k 32" monitor and it would be really useful if Illustrator could make use of the GPU.
I have attached my current system info. This request follows from a community support request https://community.adobe.com/t5/Illustrator/Adobe-Illustrator-CC-2019-slow-amp-not-using-eGPU-radeon-VII-in/m-p/10658436#M147405

Shift key to draw lines by understanding the direction I want it to go
I have used AI for 20+ years and a lot of little things could use improving.
One of them is the shift-line coding that makes a straight line when you hold the shift key down. More times than not, the line is drawn in a direction I did not intend and I have to keep redoing. I am assuming that the software registers the first micro millimeters of a direction I am going in instead of understanding that 99.9999% of the momentum of my cursor is in a DIFFERENT direction.
