Add Artboard option for Create Sub-Folders in Export for Screens, next to existing Scale and Format
When exporting something like logos, it might make sense to keep all formats exported from one artboard together in a sub-folder.
So if we make a primary logo, it can be put into a folder called 'Primary Logo', to have all the formats exported from an artboard. One design — multiple file formats. Currently that needs to be done manually. So an 'Artboard' sub-folder option would be nice.
Thanks to Jon from Crusoe Design Co. for the idea

Adding the [null] 'swatch' to the Recent Colors quick use panel
Adding the [null] 'swatch' to the Recent Colors quick use panel would make for efficient color swapping. Yes, the null option is always on the tools panel; intuitively a recent selection even of null/no color should sit in the recently used Recent Colors area.

AI Design Merge for Symbols: Apply Structural Changes While Preserving Style
In symbol-based workflows (common in apparel and accessories), designers often create multiple variations of the same base illustration.
Typically: One version introduces a design change (e.g., updated shape or component)
Another introduces a style change (e.g., color or material)There is currently no efficient way to merge these selectively across symbols.
Proposed Feature:
An AI-assisted “Design Merge” tool that compares two objects or symbols and allows users to selectively merge:
Structural changes (geometry, proportions, components)
Appearance attributes (color, stroke, effects)Example:
Symbol A: square pocket, black
Symbol B: rectangular pocket, pink
Desired result:
→ square pocket, pink2 votes -
Allow user to name assets being exported when using the Assets Export feature
After dragging an element to the Asset Export panel, and clicking "Export" then "Chose", a "Replace Files" warning message will pop-up if the user has previously exported assets from that panel into the same folder.
This is a blocking occurence, where the UI doesn't offer alternatives besides canceling the whole operation and going backwards in the process.
A simple "Naming" dialog box or automatic incrementation of a number suffix at the end of the folder's name would prevent wasting time, as well as be in line with widely-accepted file export naming workflows.

Enable right-clicks in the "New Document" window
When I open Illustrator and click "New File", the "New Document" window opens.
Several recent items populate the "Recent" tab, some of which I would love to select and remove from this window to avoid opening them by mistake when I'm trying to put down some ideas on a canvas or create an object to quickly place it in another app, regardless of the canvas size.
Unfortunately, this window is quite bare-bones, not customizable and right-clicking doesn't allow to delete previous document formats.
Enabling right-click on this window would allow users to do other things, such as:
-Save as template (Move to "Saved" tab)
-Name
-Pin to top
-Duplicate
-Delete
-Add short description/notes (for example: "the two art boards overlap")
-Open corresponding documents(Naming would imply that the "Search" field at the bottom expands its range to user-0created templates, not only Adobe ones)
In the "Mobile" or "Web" tabs of the "New Document" window, a right-click could enable users to "Pin" their favorite default templates to the top of the window for easier and faster workflows (or hide the lease used ones, with a "restore all default presets" option to unhide the hidden ones).

Make "Create Outlines" not greyed out when text is selected
If I am creating a text element for the sole purpose of converting it to outline, it is confusing that the "Type > Create Outlines" option is greyed out when the text is selected.
"Create Outlines" should not be greyed out, and when the user clicks there could potentially be a warning the first time saying:
"Creating Outlines will make it impossible
to edit the text box, would you like to proceed?[ ] Do not show this message again"
Although one could assume that the user knows what they are doing, and that the warning message might be annoying rather than helpful.
At the present moment, it is annoying to not be able to access the feature, and adds extra steps to have to deselect the very object that the user wants to modify to be able to enable this modification.
It makes it feel like the user made a mistake, and could confuse them into thinking that one of their actions disabled the feature.Additionally, it would make sense for a user to be able to select only a selection of text from a text block, and then proceed to Create Outlines for only this selection (for example to create decorated initials for print).
In this scenario, Illustrator would divide the text block into two elements upon clicking the menu, one with the outlined text and one where the remaining part of the text block remains editable.

Suggestion for Faster Clipping Mask Editing Workflow in Adobe Illustrator
I would like to suggest a small workflow improvement for Clipping Mask editing in Illustrator.
Currently, when an image inside a clipping mask becomes stretched or distorted, users need to go through multiple steps such as:
Isolate Selected Clipping Mask
Edit Contents
Resize or reposition the image
Exit isolation modeThis process can feel slow during fast-paced design work.
It would be extremely helpful if Illustrator had:
A dedicated shortcut for “Edit Clipping Mask Contents”
A quick toggle button directly on the control bar
Or an easier one-click option to switch between editing the mask and the content inside itThis could significantly improve workflow speed for graphic designers and make clipping mask editing more intuitive.

Image trace options
I like the 'ignore color' function. I want to have an option where I can select i.e. four colors, and image trace the divides the image into those four categories. This could save so much time in tracing maps/drawings/scans.

Provide angle / rotation in Info panel, for text and other parametric objects
For Parametric objects, like text objects, Ai knows the rotation, if applied. Please give the user that information in the Info panel, when a rotated parametric object is selected.

Fast Skew Option in Illustrator
I’d love to see a faster skew workflow in Illustrator.
Currently, skewing objects requires extra steps, and it feels slower than it should be for frequent transformations.
Suggested behavior:
- When an object is selected, the normal bounding box appears.
- When the cursor moves near the left, right, top, or bottom edges of the bounding box, the cursor automatically changes to a skew icon (two opposite arrows).
- Click and drag from those edges to quickly skew the object.
- This would work similarly to how "rotating or scaling" works near corners, but specifically for skew transformations.

Why are PDFs from illustrator so much larger than from INDD?
I could have the same layout in illustrator and in INDD, use the same export settings, and illustrator PDFs are always super big. Maybe it's because they hold data from artboards that weren't included in export. I've tried opening the PDFs back into Illustrator to delete unnecessary artboards, and random stuff on pasteboard. I've tried deleting all hidden layers. Rasterizing masked photos doesn't work either. I could have a 4meg pdf from INDD, or one from AI would be 80megs. Thanks for considering.

Allow customized names for exported artboards
Allow me to customize the name of artboards that are exported or saved as.
OR, change the automatic naming to include the artboard number at the front of the file name so they will be in the same order as they are in the document when sorted alphabetically.
Here is how I would use this feature:
We use Illustrator to create client presentations. Artboards are named according to their content. Often saving/exporting as a PDF from Ai results in a file that's too large to email.
So I export each artboard as a PNG. The naming convention for these files is FileName_ArtboardName.png.
Then I import the PNGs to Acrobat. Then rearrange the pages in Acrobat to the correct order.
My workaround is to rename the artboards before export with the artboard number at the beginning of the artboard name, then the PNGs are in the correct order in Finder, and when imported into Acrobat.
Adding the artboard to the artboard name has to be done manually, which if you have more than a few artboards gets tedious. And if you change the order of the artboards, you have to manually change the number in the artboard names.
I envision it as a preference pane, similar to how Lightroom Classic handles file names for export. Or it could be an option when exporting.

Export for screens with subfolders organized by artboard
Often I am having to export multiple file formats for all artboards in a single working file. E.g. when sending a group of signs to a printer, they will want an individual native .AI file, a PNG full-res preview, and a JPG thumbnail. Currently, you can create subfolders based on Scale or Filetype, but it would be immensely helpful if there was the ability to create subfolders based off of Artboard Name, since it is often the specific design that someone is looking for.

Please rework the Gradient Annotator: stop the scale gizmo from vanishing and correct the icon for the Aspect Ratio
When trying to scale a gradient, the Scale gizmo's disappear all the time. Trying numerically is a pain, with a dropdown list of percentages, in stead of a slider, nudge buttons and input field.
Also, it is unclear why 'Aspect Ratio' is set in %. Turns out to be the scale of the width. But the icon shows arrows for the height. I think a UI-expert should rework this, accompanied by a user.2 votes -
Show the consistent color picker dialog both when editing a fill and a swatch
For some reason AI uses different color pickers in similar occasions. I would like to see a unified color picker that has all the best from the other color pickers: HSB and Grayscale and RGB/Hex or CMYK (depending on document color mode).
In the current version double clicking a swatch brings up a completely different interface than double clicking a fill color for example.
I would like to see a color picker that shows all I can possibly need, without having to change systems all the time via a menu. (most of the time, I use HSB and RGB to modify colors, but AI does not offer both in one view.)
Take a look at Cinema 4d's color picker as a starting point, and improve it more to create the Adobe version (and then... put it in all CC apps! :-)
