2. Editable text in dimensions

   Please let designer edit the text inside the dimensions. Sometimes for mockup purpose is not possible to set a proper scale and if you place a dimension obviously the size has to be changed. Now you need to expand the aspect to let the text be editable. It would be great if the text can be editable by default.
   There is no worries for people with right scales since the value will be correct, but it will be a smart edit for others who have to change it.

3. Allow Illustrator documents to re-link to its shared-for-review Creative Cloud document if the link becomes broken

   Sometimes a document that's been shared for review through the Creative Cloud will lose its connection to the local file. Sometimes because you've tried to create a new iteration, renamed the file, or sometimes it just happens for unknown reasons. When this occurs, it would be helpful to be able to reconnect them so that the review process continues with the same link to the end of the project. This would keep the entire history of markups and not cause confusion by sending out a new link in which they cannot access the resolved markups when reviewing the updates. Yes, we can issue a new link, and that works, but it's an unwanted interruption in the flow.

4. Thumbnails in Layers always show full previews even when outline mode for the layer is toggled

   This is relatively new within recent Ai upgrades.

   Can we please revert back to preview mode ONLY for layer thumbnails regardless of how we view the layer on the artboard. This was changed recently. Why? If you choose to make changes like this, please make it an optional preference, as long time users probably don't like these changes.

5. Preview Only Text Features

   Can we get additional features to handle Preview Only Text?

   • A Highlight Preview Only text feature similar to the Highlight Substituted Fonts Preference?

   Illustrator 2025 is now using embedded fonts instead of demanding they be substituted. You can not add text or paste it into a different document however you can adjust the tracking and the scale. When you paste it into a new document it just defaults and goes missing. This can be a major problem if unnoticed by an operator. This is a love / hate feature that I would love no matter what if it just had some additional features/options.

6. Dedicated Persian Language Engine for Illustrator

   Persian-speaking users form a large and growing part of Illustrator’s user base. However, Persian text support still relies on the Arabic engine, which leads to issues in text rendering, alignment, and typography.
   Persian has unique typographic rules that differ from Arabic, and a dedicated engine is essential for proper layout and display.
   We request the development of a Persian-specific text engine to improve support and usability for millions of Persian-language users. I’m happy to provide examples if needed.

7. Issue with Hidden Layers Exporting in PNG Format

   Hello. I am experiencing an issue with Illustrator when exporting my files to PNG format using artboards. Specifically, the exported PNG includes layers that are hidden and not displayed on the screen at the time of export. This issue does not occur when I export all the artwork or only selected artworks.

   Here are the details:

   Software Version: 29.3.1
   Operating System: Windows 11 24H2
   Steps to Reproduce:
   Open the Illustrator file.
   Hide certain layers.
   Export the file to PNG format using artboard and have transparent background.
   Check the exported PNG file.
   Despite hiding the layers before exporting, they still appear in the final PNG. This issue is affecting my workflow and the accuracy of my exported files.

8. Add Image Trace presets for QR codes and other barcodes

   One of the most common issues I have is receiving QR codes or barcodes from a customer as low-resolution JPEGs or PNGs. Asking customers to understand which formats from online generators are vector formats is always an issue.

   While I know I can technically regenerate the QR code with an online generator, it feels like a natural extension of the existing Image Trace function to be able to recognise QR codes or barcodes and to snap the vector artwork to a proper grid.

   This could be implemented with something like "snap points to 90° angles" or something, but I think the better outcome would be built-in support for recognising the QR code or UPC codes and re-rendering it nicely as part of the operation.

9. Allow to cut path with a drag rather than a click when using Scissors

   I want the Scissors tool to be able to cut paths like the Knife does, with a click-and-drag, splitting a path at an intersection of straight/freeform (straight by default) drawn line with a path (ideally prioritizing selected ones over others, like requested here: http://illustrator.uservoice.com/forums/333657/suggestions/36111436)

   I’m rather tired of seeing this loud modal dialog when I don’t have Smart Guides enabled and miss a line (because the tool doesn’t have enough feedback by modern times’ standards: http://illustrator.uservoice.com/forums/333657/suggestions/44725546)

   Take a look at the fake GIF I made to show how it should work.
   A single click should still work.
   This new option should have a tweakable tolerance, a minimal distance we need to drag to get it detected as a drag-cut.
   Probably it should allow to choose if it should make first cut only or detect all intersections with a cut line.

   No, Knife tool behaves differently, compare yourself.

    Using SVG in web development frequently requires manual editing of the svg code, to use currentColor instead of a fixed fill or stroke colour.

11. Add color to toolbar icons.

    The new 'Objects on a Path' tool has brought color to the toolbar. It now stands out a lot.

    I have a bunch of plugins that add tools to the toolbar, and have a bunch of cryptic monochromatic icons. Perhaps it is time for both Adobe and plugin developers to bring some color to the toolbar so we have one more thing to help us remember which extremely specialized tool we use once in a blue moon is which?

    (This also may require a switch in the prefs to revert to largely monochromatic icons for people who are colorblind and/or just hate change.)

12. Allow to set text format for CMYK values and other data in Swatch Info objects

    The data for CMYK values in cards inside of Swatch Info is formatted with commas.
    I’d like to have the ability to customize it: spaces, hyphens, as C100 M50 Y0 K0, etc.

13. Allow to use custom user templates for Swatch Info objects

    Swatch Info is OK (if completed!), but there is not enough customization currently.
    Take a look what an awesome ColorList script by Katja Bjerrum offers: https://productivista.com/make-a-list-of-colors-from-your-selection/ — we can set our own shapes before making a color legend.
    We could have done it semi-automatically after creating a Swatch Info, with Global Edit, to replace all chips with a custom shape... but for some reason these rectangles are immune to Global Edit (as it often happens, new features get loosely integrated with existing functions...)

    This actually also includes text parameters, but perhaps it’s a separate request... Sure, the font is the one defined by the [Normal Paragraph style], but text formatting is not only the font family...

14. Allow to quickly enable or disable all Text Options for cards in Swatch Info objects

    Text cards for Swatch Info objects can have a lot of items displayed.
    I found that I either need all of these or none often. The only way to choose between these two major modes is to patiently toggle each one manually.
    ...meanwhile in Asset Export we can easily choose to use All or No Artboards with dedicated buttons. Perhaps there should be a way to do the same thing here?
    It should be allowed both when creating and when editing a Swatch Info object.

17. Switch symbol shortcut

    I would love to have a way to quickly switch symbols with a shortcut (maybe using the keyboard numbers where each symbol corresponds to one symbol).
    I have a job where I have to manually insert many symbols of different sizes, and without a shortcut it takes much time.

18. Support all pie functions Ellipse offers for other live shapes

    There a few things circular pies need in Ai:

19. Allow targeting layers with no unlocked/visible paths in them.

    You can target a layer to apply an appearance by clicking on the circle to the right of its name in the Appearance palette.

    This is not possible, however, if the layer is empty.

    This is also not possible if the only thing the layer contains is empty layers.

    This is also not possible if all the children of the layer are locked. Or invisible.

    There must be at least one unlocked, visible non-layer object in a layer before you can target it.

    I am most often annoyed by trying and failing to target a layer with a bunch of locked child layers in it, but I would like to see all of these restrictions lifted, so that it's much easier to apply effects to nested layer structures.

20. Need Save As... in Edit Toolbar options

    I use saved toolbars, but they are tedious to create because when you click New toolbar... you get a blank toolbar and then have to add each tool one by one. I would like to open an existing toolbar (like Advanced) and have the option to Save As... under a new name - then, I can remove the tools I don't want and save it. Better to work from a starting point, than have to start from scratch.
