Font stack (like CSS)
As a user who frequently works with CJK texts, I often encounter challenges in managing fonts for multilingual documents. Currently, setting different fonts for mixed-texts is a cumbersome process.
When I work with mixed texts, it is common to set CJK texts in one typeface and English text in another, as it is usually the case for many brands. To do so, I have to set the fonts of the text twice (first English, then find all characters whose font is unchanged and set them to the CJK font). Sometimes, if the chosen CJK font has missing characters (“tofu”), I will have to set them to another CJK font that has the characters. In some cases, I have several fonts lined up, from one closest in style to one with the most comprehensive glyph set. As a result, I find myself often having to go over each text object to make sure the right font is used at the right places.
I propose a feature that allows users to define a prioritized list of fonts. When a character is missing in the first font, the next font on the list is automatically used, similar to the font-family mechanism in Cascading Style Sheets (CSS).

Paint an Image Map for Defining Complexity in Image Trace Function
Feature Request: Paint an Image Map for Defining Complexity in Image Trace Function
Description:
I would like to request a feature enhancement for Adobe Illustrator's Image Trace function. This enhancement involves the ability to paint an image map that defines the complexity of the vector result. This feature would allow users to have more control over the detail and precision of different areas within an image when using the Image Trace tool.Proposed Functionality:
Image Map Tool:Introduce a new tool that allows users to paint directly onto the image, creating a map that indicates areas of different complexity.
Users can select different levels of complexity (e.g., high detail, medium detail, low detail) and paint these onto the image.
Complexity Settings:Provide options to adjust the complexity levels, allowing users to fine-tune the trace results for specific areas.
Include a preview option to see how the painted map affects the vectorization before finalizing the trace.
Integration with Image Trace:Integrate the painted image map with the existing Image Trace function, so the complexity map guides the tracing process.
Ensure the Image Trace function respects the defined complexity areas, resulting in a vector output that matches the user's desired detail levels.
User Interface:Create an intuitive and user-friendly interface for painting the complexity map, with clear visual indicators of the different complexity levels.
Allow for easy editing and refinement of the painted map.
Benefits:
Enhanced Control: Provides users with granular control over the detail and precision of the traced vector, improving the quality and relevance of the results.
Efficiency: Reduces the need for extensive post-trace editing by allowing users to define areas of high and low detail during the trace process.
Customization: Offers a more customizable and versatile Image Trace experience, catering to diverse artistic and design needs.
Use Case:
Designers working on complex images can use the painted image map to specify high-detail areas (e.g., faces, text) and low-detail areas (e.g., background, shadows). This ensures the vector result is optimized for their specific requirements, enhancing the overall workflow and output quality.Thank you for considering this feature request. I believe it will significantly enhance the functionality and user experience of Adobe Illustrator's Image Trace tool.

Selective Vectorize: Vectorize specific parts of an image with Image Trace
Vectorize specific parts of an image using this Selective Vectorize tool. It allows users to explicitly ignore certain parts of the image by marking only the required parts.
3 votesDear Users,
Introducing Selective Vectorization in Image Trace: Introducing the capability to selectively trace objects from a Raster Image. To use this capability:
- Select the selective vectorization tool from Image Trace Panel
- Hover over the Embedded Image, it will annotate the selected regions
- Use Up/Down arrow key to adjust the selected regions
- Clicking will select that part of image
- Use Shift key user can add to selection
- Use Option/Alt key to remove a selection
- Trace the Image
Note: Selective Vectorization only works on embedded images.
Known Issue: Annotation might appear incorrect when Image is scaled after place and embed.
Is this technology useful in your workflow?
Please try it out in BETA and let us know your feedback.

Hide/Show all text appearances in the Appearance panel
Have the option to hide/show all appearances in the appearance panel, not just individual ones.
When working with text, having the computer constantly redraw appearances — slows the workflow. The ability to hide all would drastically improve performance, especially on text with multiple strokes/complex fills.3 votes -
Make rendering of 3D happen in background
Ideally pushing the rendering tasks to a background process would help with using this tool. It's a bit of a pain to have to click and unclick cpu-intensive modes just to make adjustments or wait for 10+ seconds when I could be working on another part of the artwork.

Linked copies / instances
I need linked copies / instances - copies that follow the transformation of the original object (or vice versa).
A lot of times I do copy paths, groups or other objects in place, and just change the stroke width, apply an effect, or change the colour. Afterwards a change the size or position just slightly, AND THAN THE HASSLE STARTS. From there on I need to do the exact same change to the "original" path too. Too much work, too much time lost.Do you want to program that, or should I start a plugin.

Smart objects (opened from Photoshop) should have the same name as their Photoshop layer
I'm working on a complicated digital twinning pipeline which involves a lot of nested smart objects within Photoshop files.
Oftentimes these smart objects are merely white text and it's difficult to distinguish between them when several are open at the same time.
The problem is compounded because illustrator simply refers to each object that I open as "Vector smart object". Having several open at the same time quickly becomes difficult to manage. I believe, too, that Photoshop is sometimes unable to launch a particular smart object in illustrator because of a clashing "Vector smart object" 'file name' instance.
It would help greatly if the Smart Object's filename - when opened in illustrator - mirrored the Photoshop layer name from which it was launched.

Smart Guide object edges (on mouse hover) should be easier to distinguish from actual selected object edge
With smart guides on, a selected object's edge outlines look the same as a rolled-over / mouse-over / hover-over object.
With complex art, it's often difficult to distinguish if you have an item selected or not. Bounding box handles help, but It would be better if there was some additional attribute related to the actual outline. Perhaps a lower tint of the same guide color?

Magic Wand: Remember default values, restrict to active artboard, fine tune values, ...
The magic wand seems to got old. It is missing so much functions.
- Remember settings from previous sessions
- Restrict selection to active artboards
- Restrict selection to view
Restrict to main active layer
Add all the possibilities you can find under "select > same"
fine tune the values
explain the tolerance value (e.g. for fill colour)
add selections by tint, by hue, ...

When pasting into photoshop, masked objects should be defined by / constrain mask size. Objects / pixels outside the mask should be ignored.
When pasting a masked object from AI to Photoshop, the size of the object is determined by everything inside and outside of the mask. It should be determined by the size of the mask only. Photoshop interprets the clipboard size based on the entire object size rather than the masked size. The result is that the desired final cropped artwork is pasted pasted too small.
I believe this is a bug or design error. I am pretty sure much (much!) older versions of AI didnt do this.
I dont know of a scenario where the current action would be desirable. Variable Width point distribution advanced controls
The standard distribution of the width points and number of width points needs a toggle to advanced controls where the width points can be locked to (or between specified) anchor points on the path.
I hypothesize that this would fix the glitch where the movement, addition or subtraction of anchor points throws the width distribution out of wack.• Would also like to see more pronounced the location of all width points when the path is selected instead of fumbling along the path; perhaps secondary color to standard layer color.
• Within the "Width Point Edit" dialogue, buttons to advance to next width point or previous.
• Ability to lock/unlock the anchor point and width point, and if they are overlapping, add additional embellishment to the anchor point icon, like an outline for the addition of a width point or a diagonal strike if it is locked.
• Numeric control over number of width points at start, perhaps some occasion to reduce number of width points later, especially if the path was created the old (current) way.
• Curve control over ins and outs
• And for complex bends maybe toggle a way to fill in the holes created by the overlaps in the generated boundary.
• I surely missed some good suggestions in previously posted requests, the advanced control dialog would be a good place for that stuff too.
Would love if this could transfer over to After Effects shape layers, or on mask paths convert this data to feathered mask points
I love using the width point control to layout character storyboards, its good for adding the muscle contour between anchor points (joints). It could be faster than sketching, but it needs to be better, the shift and the unnecessary points that are added for reasons unknown to me are very frustrating, I've played with saving the width profiles to toggle between characters on the same pose, shows promise.

Symbol visibility in Bridge
What about having Bridge to manage Symbols? Edit parameters, meta data and other things that could be good for such a feature.

Batch Generation on Gen Ai (text-to-vector) Features
Do you know something that would be cool?
Some script only for testing purposes, or maybe this could be a feature. The script could generate all the 5 levels of Detail of Text-to-Vector
(and/or all levels of any feature that have or will have intensity control)I mean generating 5 copies, each one with the one of the 5 levels of the detail. and keep the other settings as the same for all the generations.
(the same for other gen ai features)I do this manually, but I will be very happy with a feature that does this for me.
I know this will spend a lot of credits. But we can compare faster, instead do it manually.
What do you think people? Is this possible?I know that I will use it.

Ability to shift and organize projects on the Home screen
Sometimes I want organize projects not based on time I worked on it or name, but just what I would like to be at the top, so I would like the freedom to move them around freely rather than having them restricted to those two choices.

Modern 3D effects need more control over mapping
Map art lacks of control. I can't find a right way to place my art along the shape I've created. Previous versions let us place graphics, symbols, along the created shape and play around to find the desired way to make the art. Please add more graphic placement controls for symbols or graphics in 3D shapes.

Embed as attachment a DXF version of the illustration in the Export as PDF option
Most often when designing files for logo or marquing tools we need to export a viewable PDF version and e CAD file as DXF.
In order to keep them synced, it's convenient to attach the DXF as an attachment in the PDF.Could it be possible to impement this workflow in Illustrator? either in the "Export PDF" option or via a script/action command?
Many Thanks

Hide Numbers Option for Dimension Tool
Hello,
I'd like to add the hide option for the numbers. I'm actually doing a floor plan, I want people to input by hand the numbers they see on the design by measuring with the real dimensions and have to hide the numbers by adding a shape over the numbers so people won't get confused with the numbers.
I think it can come handy also for maths teachers for example, when they want to edit their drawing with a version for students and one for solutions. they can also edit with flying text with X, Y, Z or else for their subjects without having to cover the numbers artificially with a with rectangle.
Thanks a lot

Need for Precise Axis Constraint for 3D objects when repositioning Graphics with Shift
When repositioning a graphic as a material, I can't constrain the position to x/y axis by holding shift, e.g., the graphic always gets off axis or rotates. Please provide more precise control over position of graphic

Tool to identify the size of each asset that is added to a document
sometimes I save a project file and it is HUGE... because some asset I added is also HUGE, but I didn't realize it...
I would like to see a feature where I could open a panel (maybe integrated into a LINKS panel?) and it shows each asset added and the size...that way I can make the decision to manually edit that asset to a smaller size so that my files aren't so huge

Make more improvements to Dimensions
Some add'l improvements that would be greatly appreciated:
• Higher precision settings. At least to 1/8" but 1/16" would be great as well.
• More formatting options for foot inch/ e.g. 7" instead of 0'-7"
• Dimension text centered with the dimensions line as option, with a break in the line to accommodate the text.
• Scale options (custom as well) in architectural format in addition to engineering format (e.g. 1/2" = 1'-0" in addition to 1:24)
• Options to show dimension text rotated 90° - separate options for vertical, vs horizontal dimensions.
• For "Line Type", give us all the standard stroke options.
• Add an option to dimension a center line - centerline line style - maybe as an option key when pulling the dimension to turn it on/off for one or both of the extension lines.Thank you for finally adding this as an alternative to expensive plugins! It is greatly appreciated!
