Set "Registration" (and/or other library color) to Dimension tool
I would like the ability to set the size color in "Registration" on the lines and text. Unfortunately currently (version 28.1) it is possible to freely set the colors but it is not possible to set the Registration color or other colors present in the document samples. This would be very useful for me when printing color separations for different uses.

Please add auto optical size for variable fonts with opsz axes similar to Adobe InDesign automapping:

Progress bar for the new Smooth tool
I love the new smooth tool! When it comes to contour lines in a map, It perform so much better than the simplify tool. The only problem is that when I smooth lines in large documents, Illustrator freezes but the cpu is on fire so I'm not sure if it's working or if Illustrator needs to be force quitted.
Therefore I propose a progress bar for that tool which appears after one has moved the Smoothing slider.

I would like to see the output of the subject created by the generated AI with each part layered by part.
I would like the subject created by the generated AI to be output with parts divided into layers by part (right eye) (left eye) (outline) (eyebrows), etc.

Share for Review Proof Approval
Adding functionality for "Proof Approval" would be huge! And would allow the process to remain within Adobe as opposed to having to go outside Adobe products. Turning on this functionality when needed, allowing for proof to be sent that can be officially approved within AI that:
a. Doesn't allow the user the ability to download the PDF and steal the artwork.
b. Sends confirmation that the Proof was Approved or Not Approved with feedback. This can help streamline the approval process ensuring everyone is aware when a proof is sent, and status changes (Pending, Approved, Not Approved, etc.).
c. Saves the history of approval status and changes, so that the proof approval date, time, and by whom can be seen and referenced. This is for records and potential disputes.
d. Possibly a "Compress and Convert Images to Raster" option that could allow the person approving the proof to download the proof marked "Approved" for their records. This again protects from clients stealing artwork.

Batch convert to AI format
I would appreciate a way to batch convert multiple vector files (eps, svg, etc.) to .ai format.
I get a lot of eps files, and I would like to convert them to Illustrator files all at once without having to open them individually and saving them one at a time. I thought this used to be possible in Bridge, but I can't find anyone else who remembers this.

Disable Layer Search in Layers Window

Please allow for disabling the layer search function. The Layers window search field randomly activates, especially when opening new files from a template and when opening exitisting files to make revisions. This is incredibly frustrating. For example; when I open a file and try to select the type tool by hitting the T key, I just end up typing a line of T's in the layer search bar. When the search function is active it appears as if there are layers missing in the file, making it difficult to find layers and objects. It is making too much extra time and work just clicking around to navigate my own files. Please remedy this with the option to remove/disable this feature from the Layers window. Thanks, Adobe

3D & Materials: separate colour/material for extrusion
Please introduce the ability to apply separate colour and material to the extruded part of a 3D shape. There are multiple examples where such a feature would immensely help recreating real world objects. For example: laser cut plywood (burned edges, parallel to the surface), slice of bread, etc. Basically, any cut object which interior is different to its surface.

Scale strokes and effects, hotkey while dragging.
When using the scale tool, and clicking and dragging, there should be a hotkey that toggles 'scale strokes and effects'. It would be helpful to show this hotkey option as a tooltip that appears near the mouse cursor while dragging.
All too often I will have to undo, then go into the transform panel or the preferences to check or uncheck the box, then go back and scale the object again.

Filtering font selection by source / vendor
(This is a feature request for Ai, Ps, Id etc. as well)
Filtering from source such as Fontbook, Monotype, Adobe Fonts, Google Fonts etc.
I've noticed its common to only be allowed to use fonts from specific sources with some clients. It's been a headache to have to go into another app and cross reference which fonts are from what source. For example, a client I'm contracted full time under I can only use Monotype due to their commercial subscription status.
Or even to be able to create our own folders / font collections to view those only.

Make the type on a path tool smarter
I would like an option to make a text follow a path in a more smooth way. For example, look at the PSG logo where you see how the A and R follow the circular shape, without distorting the shape of the letter.

Share for Review with watermark
While I like the Share for review feature, I would appreciate if there was an option to activate watermark.
The benefits of watermarks are too numerous to list, but the most important is:

Allow to save changes into the locked Arrowheads.ai file
So you are a smart one and figured out how to make your own arrowheads...
The help article tells how to do it (https://helpx.adobe.com/illustrator/using/stroke-object.html) and then the file itself has some instructions.But then you try to save the changes, and get an error message. You can't overwrite the file, because it’s locked by Ai, because it uses it to display arrowheads in their dropdown...
Currently you have to save the file someplace else, close Ai, wait a bit, replace the fil, launch Ai back. Very cool...
Then you realize you made a tiny mistake probably, and you have to repeat the process, opening a saved copy (if you left a copy) and relaunch Ai again.This is a wonderful and encouraging process to update presets! It’s like making pasta from the scratch each time you feel you need some more spices.
How about making the process of making custom arrowheads somewhat more humane?

Width Tool Changes When Adding New Points or Mirroring and Joining Objects
This issue really affects me, especially when I create an entire path, but then gets destroyed due to more points. Could you consider getting rid of width profiles or make an option to disable it? I want the width point to stay at the exact same place all the time just like anchor points! Also the width tool points can be very inaccurate, as shown in the picture below.

Crop Image to Artboard Option
When creating multiple graphics with high-quality images, it would be great if there was an option to select when cropping an image that automatically cropped the image to the size of the artboard.

Right Click In General (notably context menus)
Illustrator is seriously deficient in its rightclickability. I want to rightclick on a link in the links panel and relink it. I want to rightclick on a swatch and delete it. I want to rightclick on a paragraph style and apply it. Or redefine it.
In short, bring right-click capabilities up to speed with Photoshop and InDesign.

Object > Repeat > Mirror needs options for Flipping
Currently the only assignable option for "Repeat > Mirror," is the angle of symmetry. The option to flip the mirrored object (similar to the "Reflect," tool) would be useful for Mirror. Example: Illustrating the letter "S," or "Z," for asymmetrical designs. Similar options are already implemented in the "Repeat > Grid," function, but aren't present for "Repeat > Mirror".

Allow to change default settings for 3D and Materials effect
Can we please change the default settings on 3D effect to not apply anything or allow us to change the default. It takes forever to load on every project just to open it up for a simple bevel to be applied. Many times my app just crashes just opening up the window just from applying whatever the default setting is doing to the text I selected. My computer is far beyond the specs that it says the program requires until I need to open this tool on anything.
