Importing: An unknown error has occurred.
Attempting to import a file that has multiple artboards, I get an error that states "An Unknown Error has Occurred" and after that I can no longer place any artwork what so ever without first quitting Illustrator.
- I am on Mac OS10.14.6 and AI 24.0
- File import, select file, checking import options, selecting which page/artboard and the place.
- It should place the art but
- instead deadlocks you from importing any files of any type after that without a hard reboot.

Unable to Merge swatches, screen freezes
In latest version of Illustrator 2020, I am running the script that brings Swatch Conflict Dialog, which is ok but it does not allow me to merge swatches. I cannot select or change radio button selection. I have attached the screenshot of the dialog.
1 voteYou can disable alerts during script execution with below method
app.userInteractionLevel = UserInteractionLevel.DONTDISPLAYALERTS;
This assumes the default option selected in the dialog and proceed with further script execution.

Outlines of shapes under top shape showing through fill of top shape
Outlines of shapes underneath top shape are showing through though there is no transparency or opacity settings effected. Top shape is brought forward but it's acting like its transparent to outlines. (images showing problem and transparency settings attached)

Simplify preview problem
When I choose Path > Simplify… and have the preview button checked, the simplification happens as many times as I adjust the percentage. ie it will simply to 99% and the 97% of 99%.
Whether I click OK or Cancel, all of the actions have been performed and I have to press undo until it is back to normal.
This problem arrived at the same time as the scale/rotate/reflect etc preview issue (which have now been fixed thank god).1 voteHi,

Cannot process the 3D effect, the message says the object has too many spot colors
I've been getting an error message (see attached file), followed by a complete lockup. The thing is, the object only has 2 colors.

Transform Each for groups
Transform Each currently rotates multiple groups around a common center point, counter intuitive to what the name implies. Does what the name says when used on vectors.

SVG export : XML code anomaly
Hi there,
(my specs don't matter for this issue)
I'm using Ai to make .svg files I'll animate live (making it react to midi and sound) using PureData and Processing.
So I have vectorized a picture of stained glasses and it gives me 3655 different path I have to export twice : once in only one .svg file for all paths [globalsvg] and once in one .svg file per path [pathssvg].I'll then use Processing to analyse height, width, viewbox and d-commands in [globalsvg] to finally recreate the entire pattern by placing [pathssvg] on another plan…

Crash while setting up Action
Illustrator crashes every-time I try to set up a new action. I am trying to create a shade effect of a "sticker" but doing the following:
- Take outline vector (which is white path)
- Duplicate
- Switch to fill
- Change color to black
- Apply Shear at 20 degrees
- Edit opacity to 20%
- CrashJust curious as to why this happening. Possibly due to my file size? 162.5 MB

Workspace window falls off the page
The newest update does not fix the issue I am having with the workspace window falling off the page when I try to drag the bottom right corner to better fit my art/desktop as needed. Does not respond to the position of my mouse, I have to over exaggerate where I want it while I click and drag my mouse.

So if you are still having this problem, please provide a proper screenshot or maybe a video even, if necessary. Either way, please comment back on this.

Illustrator doesn't open
I simply can't open Illustrator anymore. The screenshot below shows how Illustrator appears when it's open. I can only see the top bar, none of the actual interface. I'm working on MacOS Mojave Version 10c.14.1 Illustrator version 23.01
I even tried uninstalling and installing it again but nothing changed.

Layers panel doesn’t immediately update previews
When adding new elements the layer stack indicator does not retain the color of the previously added layer - it switches to the color of the current element. In the attached image, I am using yellow rectangles to evenly space blue rectangles. The elements in the stack were added in sequence using copy/paste keyboard shortcuts. As you can see in the attached image, the current element is colored yellow but shows up as blue in the layer stack.

Uniform resizing behaves differently
In Illustrator 2019, when resizing an object using the W value and the H value it does not resize symmetrically keeping it centered on the xy axis like all previous versions. This is something I have relied on to keep everything centered within that shape or object. Why did this change or is it a preference that I need to select?

the letter "i" is sometimes not exported to SVG
the letter "i" is sometimes not exported to SVG..
For example: i tried to export the following paragraph to SVG:
"Synchronization job is designed to perform file transfer between multiple agents back and forth, or perform one-way file transfer. Files in the shares can be modified, new file added and some deleted, and these changes synced to other agents in real time."the word "file" always gets exported as "fle"

Saving as PDF includes Illustrator layers when "Create Acrobat Layers from Top-Level Layers" is turned off
I often iterate ideas on multiple layers, then use the "Save as PDF" option to export a clean version with inactive/hidden layers omitted using "Create Acrobat Layers from Top-Level Layers" de-activated.
However, I have noticed recently that when I re-open PDF files saved in this manner, the hidden Illustrator layers are still present, when the hidden data should have been omitted from the PDF.
Please correct this, as it's causing Illustrator to generate PDF files that are larger than they need to be, with the inclusion of hidden layers, which may also include reference images and templates not needed in…

Offset Path Bug
OS: Windows 10
Illustrator CC 2018 Build 22.1 (64-bit)
When working with Outlined Letters 9 times out of 10 it works.
However 1:10 when I do Object > Path > Offset Path - one of the Anchor Points does not move. When this happens it always seems to occur within the plug of the letter and it appears to be an Anchor point that would have been straight down from its original position.In the Attached Image I show the original Path and Offset Path as outlines and the Anchor Points are illustrated by Cyan Circles.

Devanagari scripts
The use of devanagari scripts in most Creative Suite is really laborious. It took me a long time before finding the way to have a correct display of simple copy/paste from Word or any other source of hindi or sanskrit texts by adjusting, in TWO différents dialog boxes the appropriate settings. Text stroke misaligned in Illustrator and when placed in Photoshop as smart object
Strokes seem to be misaligned when working on live small text and cannot be placed into Photoshop correctly to apply FX. Adobe CC

File Error When Opening
I have been having these messages pop up for the past 2 months.
When I try to open a file the message pops up, when you hit OK it opens the file but with missing elements. I then exit out of the file and re open it. Sometimes this solves the problem and other times I have to re open that file 3 other times.
Not sure whats going on.1 voteIf this happens, please share a test file, for the team to study it.. Resaving a file sometimes can help.
