1. "Verifying access to ://...."

   I have some problem with a file that has linked images pointing to a drive that I don't have access, nor will.

   Illustrator will open that file, prompt that there is linked files with broken links buy will show the thumbnail data from linked files, and then will show every 2 minutes a annoying popup trying to connect to this remote address.

   There is NO WAY to prevent this from preferences, or from the link panel.

   The popup is really annoying, you need to way a couple of minutes, Illustrator will block everything until you can stop the search.

   Sadly I cannot share some file, because there is some NDA involving it, but I can share what I think are the steps to reproduce de case

   1 - create a file,
   2 - link some images from a remote network server folder,
   save the file
   3 - share the file to someone that no longer has access to that IP address

   (the images are not embedded they are just linked images)

2. Document won't save

   Hi there.
   I have been working in a new file I created, and I am unable to save the file. I have tried exporting, and quitting such that illustrator asks if I want to save. Nothing happens. I am stuck here, as I will otherwise loose the work I have done. Any suggestions???

   The problem got solved by resaving the original document and no longer can be reproduced.

   If you have a similar issue, try to search for a similar bug report which matches yours exactly or log another one, providing as many details as possible to help the team to investigate it.

3. Textframe bugs out, and won't change color. Had to make new text boxes

   Found a bug where a specific text box will NOT ovewrite the color of the text. I tried deleting paragraph styles, making new paragraph styles with different color, character styles and eyedropper tool. I can change weight, italics etc but the color would NOT change, despite the changes appearing in the appearance panels and other areas. Fixed by making new text boxes and moving the copy to those, but an annoying bug for sure.

4. Unable to highlight values in Properties panel > Transform

   I am unable to hightlight any values with the mouse cursor that are contained in the textbox fields within the Properties Panel > Transform e.g. Width or Height.

   Using latest version of Windows 10 and Illustrator 2021 (Desktop).

5. Hide edges not working

   When choosing to hide edges of selected objects, 1 or more objects still have edges visible. I have resorted to back saving my documents as this feature is crucial for layouts.

   As far as I know, the auto-keying an object in a selection was a bug introduced in one of versions, not caught in time and slipped into the release, later fixed.

   Since no object is forced as a key right now, I assume there is no need in having its bold outline to be hidden when Hide Edges is active, since these two factors rarely meet... However, if you have a workflow that requires to have both — I encourage you to file it as a feature request with some examples.

6. Rectangle tool draws slightly rotated rectangle

   Update 24.2 - When drawing a rectangle (by selecting the rectangle tool, clicking on the artboard, and entering desired dimensions), the resulting rectangle is slightly rotated, skewed or tilted. It's not noticeable until it's viewed in outline mode.
   To confirm this, I create a 1" x 1" square with the rectangle tool. Then drag the ruler origin to the top left anchor point. The transform palette confirms this anchor point is at x=0, y=0 (as expected). Then I select the top right anchor point and see that its coordinates are x=1, y=-.0022. The y-value should be 0.

   As per the comment, the solution might be to check the Constrain Angle value in Preferences > General (Cmd/Ctrl + K) — it should be 0.

   If you still have this issue when it’s set to 0, please comment.

7. Can't select multiple anchor points with direct selection tool

   The Direct Selection Tool does not select anchor points. When the DS tool hovers over object, the outline appears, but no anchor points appear. Neither can be selected and activated. When DS tool hovers over an anchor point, I can move that one point only. DS tool behaves exactly same as Anchor Point Tool. I cannot select several anchor points at once, and move / align / delete / distribute / join them. Win 10.1903 AI 24.0

   As per the comment, this can happen due to the accidentally hiding the edges with Cmd/Ctrl + H hotkey (View > Show/Hide Edges).

   Please check if this helps and comment back if it does not.

8. Properties panel auto select field contents

   Illustrator v24.0
   Mac OS Mojave 10.14.6

   Since the Properties panel was introduced in Illustrator, it won't allow selecting an item, then click once on a field name, such as W for the width field, and automatically select the contents of the field so you can then just enter a new value or use the arrow keys to change the value.

   It works fine in the Control bar and other panels, just not in Properties.
   It works in the Properties panels of InDesign and Photoshop, as well.
   Was hoping it would be fixed in Illustrator 2020, but still not.

   Seems to be fixed in recent version of Illustrator.

   Clicking a caption of a filed in Properties (if the caption exists for a value) does select the whole value, like it does in other panels.

   Please verify and reply back.

9. Text copied from Illustrator and pasted into Word, Keynote and other editors appears as image and not editable text

   Copy text from illustrator (Command C) and paste it into Word (Command V) using shortcuts on keyboard the text does not come in to word as editable text but as a picture that I cannot edit.

   I copy text from illustrator and past it into Word for editing and then past it back into Illustrator when I am done with the word editing. I do this for technical drawings, sketchbooks and any other 2D design and presentation work.
   Since 2011 until 2018 I was able to use my keyboard shortcuts to copy text from Illustrator and paste it into Word for editing and refining. This is a proses I do numerus times a day (sometimes hundreds) as this is part of my main workload. Like I said this used to work fine for many years. Since 2018 I have not been able to paste text into Word using the Command V shortcut. Since then the text gets pasted into Word as a picture that I cannot edit.
   I know it is possible to past the text into word by using the “paste” drop down menu and select Keep text only, but this is cumbersome and disrupts my workflow. I would like to use the keyboard shortcut (Command V) to past into word.
   Copying from word and pasting it back to Illustrator is no problem.

   Idea: make it possible to use shortcuts on keyboard to paste into word and it pastes as editable tex (Like I was Able to do before for many years)

   Illustrator CC 22.1.

   If you right click in word you should get a paste as text option.
   Can you please contact Microsoft support. Like most applications we do promise text in clipboard along with other formats like svg, metafile etc…
   It is for word to pick any of these clipboard formats and consume.

10. Both Basic and Advanced toolbars are displayed at once

    Suddenly I have two toolbars?
    I have no clue what might have let to this. Photoshop and InDesign are open too.

11. Pixel number inconsistency

    Windows 10? (most recent and just updated yesterday)
    Illustrator 22.1 (64bit)

    When I told Illustrator to create an artboard of 350x350 pixels, I thought it could actually do so. That was the template image size that our web designer propogated across our entire website.

    Then I exported 11 images from Illustrator to .png format to re-build one of our webpages. They came out as 1459x1459. Now I will resize them in Microsoft Paint. They'll pixelate and probably look like trash. All because Illustrator can't understand "350 pixels x 350 pixels" on the Create New prompt window.

    Flaming dumpster fire. I am inexpressibly frustrated that I have to pay you over $400 annually for a flaming dumpster fire of a product.

    The intended way to ensure your pixel-sized document stays the same size after export is to use the default screen resolution — 72 PPI.

    If you set anything else, Illustrator will scale the image accordingly (as if the 'Resample' option in Photoshop is ticked when you resize an image).

    There is no way to write a custom resolution AND maintain the desired size at the same time.

    The reasoning behind this behaviour is that the resolution value is supposed irrelevant when an image’s intent is Screen or Web. An image can have no resolution value stored in it at all, it’s just an optional coefficient, and then different viewers and editors suppose a value on their own — usually 72 PPI (Mac-style) or 96 PPI (Windows-style).

    Unlike other editors, Illustrator has a continuous range for all measurements units. One pixel is considered to be equal one point, and a point is 1/72 of an inch (in PostScript tradition), and inch is exactly 2.54 mm. This continuity allows to mix digital and print media assets.

    TLDR

    If you design in pixels and export images for screen intent — use 72 PPI.

    If you design for print and export images in inches or millimeters or other real-world units — use any other resolution.

    However, comments about this are welcome. World changes constantly, and the once obvious solution might not be clear for new generations. Please share your thoughts.

12. Text always shows as black

    Sometimes, when I apply color to a text box (using the swatches or the eyedropper) the color shown on screen is black even though in the Appearance panel the Fill is the one I applied.

    Hi,

    The attached screenshot displays the FILL color underneath the CHARACTERS in the APPEARANCE panel therefore any change applied to the FILL will not be displayed, to display it correctly please move the FILL color row on top of the CHARACTER row (Click & Drag) in the Appearance panel.

    Hope this helps to resolve this issue.

14. Film and Video presets have an unnecessary Artboard 2

    Every new document created has 2 artboards (At least when creating from the 1920x1080 HD video template) Every time I go to export a jpg or png via save for web, it slows to a crawl because of a huge unnecessary artboard. I only want to export the size artboard I created, the HD size. But I have to wait for it to catch up and then cancel, delete the useless artboard, then go back to exporting. The whole process takes several minutes and is infuriating.

    This artboard has a purpose.

    As mentioned here in comments and in several discussions (here or here), this artboard is needed when importing the file as a composition into After Effects.

    Quoting Ton Frederiks (thanks):

    With a single artboard, After Effects clips the content outside the artboard even when Retain Layer Sizes is selected.

    With the second large artboard, AE will show the contents of layers when Retain Layer Sizes is selected.

    Another way to solve it is to create a single large artboard that has the size of all the artwork.

15. Failed SVG 1.1 Import/Export in Illustrator CC 21.1.0 (Win)

    1. Isolate Blending sets to default mode on all fonts when importing SVG-files to Illustrator and cause ”bitmap fonts” on printed paper in web browsers for Windows with embedded fonts from exported PDF-files from Illustrator.

    2. Transform lines ignored in SVG-Import in Illustrator from scaled Graphic/Movie Clip from Animate CC 16.5.1.104 (Win).

    Enabling Show Tool Tips in Preferences > General helped to have the names for swatches on hover back

17. Hitting Tab key after changing artboard name in Artboard palette

    If I rename an artboard in the Artboards palette and press tab (e.g. to rename the next artboard), the new name only changes in the Artboards palette.

    The artboard name visible on the canvas, and the one used when exporting files, is still the old name.

    If I press the Return key after making a name change in Artboards palette it works as expected.

    Would like to be able to Tab through the list and make changes.

20. Illustrator最新版で A-OTF フォントが使用できない件について

    お世話になっております。

    現在、以下の環境で A-OTF フォントが Illustrator で使用できない 不具合が発生しております。

    環境

    macOS：15.6.1（Sequoia）

    Adobe Illustrator：最新版（28.x）

    Morisawa Fonts アプリ：最新版を使用

    フォント例：A-OTF ゴシックMB101 Pr5

    症状

    Illustrator のフォント一覧には A-OTF フォントが表示されるが、選択すると代替フォントに置き換わり使用できない。

    Photoshop など他の Adobe アプリ（Photoshop、InDesign）では同じフォントを正常に使用可能。

    Morisawa Fonts アプリ上では該当フォントはアクティブ化されている。

    実施済み対策

    Illustrator のアンインストール／クリーンインストール

    環境設定・キャッシュの削除

    Morisawa Fonts アプリの再インストール、ログイン／再アクティブ化

    macOS 再起動

    上記すべてを実施しても改善せず

    特記事項

    Illustratorを一つ古いバージョン（27.x）に戻したところ、問題なくフォントを使用できた。

    よって、最新版 Illustrator（28.x）と macOS 15.6.1 環境における A-OTF フォントの不具合である可能性が高いと考えられる。
