Both Basic and Advanced toolbars are displayed at once
Suddenly I have two toolbars?
I have no clue what might have let to this. Photoshop and InDesign are open too.

Click Window > Toolbars and make sure you only have one selected. For example, just Advanced or just Basic.

Check 'Window > Toolbars > Manage toolbars'.
If you have nothing listed in opened window, than it's a bug. Otherwise delete extra toolbar. -

My current build of Adobe Illustrator is displaying two toolbars, side by side, one minimized and one expanded. I'm assuming this is a bug. I reset the essentials tool bar and re-installed illustrator but the problem persists. See the left side of the attached screenshot

Yes, I have the same thing. Rather funny actually.
Closing and reopening the toolbar is the solution.
