PDF export without color conversion converts RGB images to CMYK
This is a bug that occurs in Illustrator 2025 (29.2.1) and later.
When an RGB image is placed as a linked file in a CMYK document, it gets converted to CMYK upon PDF export, even if "No Color Conversion" is selected. In Illustrator 2025 (29.2.0) and earlier, the image remained in RGB.
This bug affects only PNG and JPG files. Other formats, such as PSD, remain in RGB.
Steps to Reproduce
- Create a new CMYK document.
- Place an RGB image (PNG or JPG) as a linked file (do not embed).
- Export the document as a PDF with "No Color Conversion"…

Asset export does not include appearance outside bounding box area of text objects (preview bounds are ignored)
In Illustrator 2025 (using version 29.3.1), when exporting assets, appearance elements outside the bounding box area are cut off.
In 2024 (28.7.5) and 2023 (27.9.6), all elements are exported without cutting.Reproduction Procedure
1. create a text object
2. add a bold stroke color to the text
3. add as an asset export item
4. export the assetExpected result
Designs with stroke color should be exported as in previous versions without problems.Appendix.
If a fill is added instead of a line and “path offset” is applied instead, this problem can be avoided because the bounding box is extended.…

Can't Save multiple artboards as a Single File PDF from Export for Screens in 29.6
Even though the single file option is checked, multiple artboards will not be saved in a single file, but as separate PDFs.
This worked in previous versions.

Export for Screens won’t export artboards as a single file
When a document has multiple artboards and is exported as PDF using Export for Screens, although all artboards are selected and a Single File option is checked, it will still be exported as multiple files.

Export As does not respect Large Canvas scale (Illustrator 29.2.1)
If you are in a "large canvas" document, when using the "Export As" menu to export PNG(s), the resulting files are 1/10th the dimensions they should be. For example, if I have 100" x 100" artboards and export them at 72dpi, the resulting images should be 7200x7200 pixels, but they are only 720x720 (but still at 72dpi). This happens with "Use Artboards" checked or unchecked, and only seems to affect PNG export and not other file types.
I'm not sure what version this first appeared in, but I know that previous versions of Illustrator behaved correctly.

Stop remembering my last save as file type!!!
I've used Illustrator for decades, and the only file type that a new document should be saved as is an .AI file. For the love of God, please go back to .AI or allow me to choose .AI as my default file type!!!
1 voteWe have fixed this issue in latest version of Illustrator - v29.8.1
Please update your Adobe Illustrator and let us know your observations.

Incorrect object size when exported to SVG - Illustrator v 28.4.1
The latest Illustrator v28.4.1 generates slightly different SVG code compared to its precursors.
Attached is the code generated by 28.3 and 28.4.1 of the same design.
Then the latest version of the SVG file is loaded to my laser software (Glowforge) the design ends up being much smaller than it is supposed to be, for comparison a 12 cm square will only end up being 9 cm square. The issue disappeared once Illustrator was reversed to version 28.3 and files were re-opened and re-saved.3 votesThe problem seems to be solved with Beta 28.6.
If you experience this problem still — please comment back.

Name artboard is not added to the file name when exporting (JPG or PNG, etc.)
When executing the command "File > Export As" and exporting, for example, to JPG, the name artboard 3 "preview" is not automatically added to the file name. Everything was fine in the previous version (26.3.1) of Illustrator.
96 votesThis is fixed in 27.1.0 build 2.
The suffix checkbox was added into the Export As dialog to toggle on/off the functionality.
If it doesn’t work for you today in the latest build — please make a comment.

Smart Object from Illustrator to PS not working after Mac Ventura 13.2.1 update
Copy and pasting a vector file from Illustrator into Photoshop as a smart object no longer saves the way it used to. In Photoshop, when I wanted to make a change to the smart object, I would double click on it in the layers panel, it opens in Illustrator, make a change, cmd + s to save, back to Photoshop and the smart object would update. Now after updating to Ventura 13.2.1, the process is the same, but after saving and returning to Photoshop, my fonts show up differently. Screenshots included.

2 - Making…1 voteThe problem got resolved when fonts got activated for Photoshop in the font manager app.
It seems that for some reason Photoshop does not warn users about missing fonts in smarts, although it should not be relevant, since Ps reads the PDF content from a smart to render it...
Needs further investigation. If you have updates on this — please comment.

Illustrator not saving properly
Saving our work is a MAJOR issue! Since updating, I'm having different ones. Sometimes when I command/save, then reopen that file, the last change I made is gone. Now, when I do a save as, Illustrator only saves part of the file name I typed in..
Attached are screen shots showing the file name I try to save it as, and the incorrect file name it saves as.
WTF is up with this stuff? I'm no programmer, but how is it that major bugs like this come up with every new version? I am spending more time working around Adobe…
1 voteA slash can’t be used in a file name. since it’s an OS reserved symbol.
There are other symbols like this: < > : " / \ | ? *

Compound paths not saving
When I make an object a compound path and then save as an SVG, when I go to open the file again, all of the compound paths have reverted to paths. I've uninstalled and reinstalled, I've tried an earlier version, I've done everything I can think of and still my SVG files will not retain compound paths. I'm using an M1 MacBook Pro, AI v27.2
1 voteIn SVG 'compound paths' are required to have at least two sub-paths (https://www.w3.org/TR/SVG/paths.html). If a shape doesn’t have any holes, it gets saved as an ordinary single path, according the specification, since no sub-paths are presented, ands gets read back as a non-compound paths. Shapes with proper holes are kept as compound paths.

Export for Screens via ExtendScript is slow and appears to have stopped
Description:
When I run Export for Screens via ExtendScript, it slows down and looks frozen. The rainbow cursor will appear. It actually works, and will finish if I wait long enough. It seems to take about 10 times longer than running it manually from the GUI.
This is especially noticeable when exporting JPEGs. If the image to be exported is large to some extent, it will hardly progress after the progress bar reaches about 99%. CPU usage will be around 100%.
Example: When exporting 8 1700x1000px artboards at 300ppi, it takes 157.636 seconds (the weight of each JPEG is 2.9MB).…

Can't Access a Saved File from a folder in Google Drive
The Issue:
I saved an illustrator file then closed the program. After some days, I reopened the program. I could see the preview thumbnail showing my latest edit but when I clicked on it to open, it went back to a much earlier version of the file. This has now happened twice. Please help if you have solved this successfully.Details:
Illustrator 26.2.1 (64-bit)
OS: Windows 10
RAM: 12GB
Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-6600U CPU @ 2.60GHz 2.81 GHz1 voteIt turns out the folder is managed by Google Drive, and it restored a previous version for some reason.
If you had problems like this too — please comment.

Document won't save
Hi there.
I have been working in a new file I created, and I am unable to save the file. I have tried exporting, and quitting such that illustrator asks if I want to save. Nothing happens. I am stuck here, as I will otherwise loose the work I have done. Any suggestions???4 votesThe problem got solved by resaving the original document and no longer can be reproduced.

Cannot open AI or EPS files just exported from AI
I'm trying to export some vector files from AI, which I've done countless times before and had no problems...
Right now when I save the file as AI and EPS, it shows up in my saved folder as a blank file. When I open the properties from it's saved folder it still shows as AI, however I'm not able to open it with AI or any other applications.
I'm stumped and don't know what I can do next.
