When kerning other than 0 is used (and it is probably set to Auto or Optical in your original file), Illustrator has to split lines into sections to retain those custom letter spaces while exporting to EMF/WMF (both formats do not support kerning).

That is when you read the file back, they stay split. That is expected,
It gets that bad because the font set is different. The original file uses Myriad it seems, while the imported one has Arial — change it back to fix the letter-spacing.

Why it gets changed though is a mystery...
Does Ai show you any messages on import?

Amir, unfortunately, it seem like this device can’t run desktop Ai :(

    As it says at
    https://community.adobe.com/t5/illustrator-discussions/run-adobe-illustrator-on-surface-pro-x/td-p/10702098
    :
Surface Pro X include ARM CPU, not Intel CPU.
Surface Pro X can only emulate x86 applications.
Illustrator 2020 (and higher I believe) cannot be used because it becomes a 64-bit application.

    But!
There is a workaround, which basically requires running Ai on a different machine:
    https://www.reddit.com/r/Surface/comments/ei5amq/use_64bit_adobe_cc_apps_on_surface_pro_x_details/

Alas, it feels like this is it. The tablet hardware is not there yet to hold big desktop Ai. IPAd have a special version of Ai though.

Clarence, please be a tiny bit more specific.
Step by step, what do you try to do, with what exactly, what happens...
Share a file, record a video.

Also, does it help if you launch the previous version? Does it behave OK?

The previous way of creating 3D is still there and will stay there, no worries!

Go Effect > 3D and Materials > 3D (Classic) to access the tools you need.

Also you can enable Render as Vector in 3D and Materials panel, but it’s not that powerful yet as the older method. This will be better in next releases.

Nah, it's OK to report thing like this :)
This means that the solution chosen is not perfect and maybe there can be better ways to make vector mode accessible. Thank you!

Yeah, now I can confirm that.
Despite SVG export settings are the same for both export methods, Export for screens provides a different code and break words in places where kerning pairs get applied (you can check it by setting the kerning to 0, which gives whole words with Export for Screens method).

The alignment gets shifted because lines get aligned from the left, and when a font gets changed, the width of a line does not match the more condensed one from the narrow font you used. Why the alignment changes though... Needs reviewing.

Finally, you have some garbage left inside of clipping masks — check with Outline mode and Layers panel. It does not influence the result visually, but not great in other senses.

I will try to bring attention to this problem.
Meanwhile, please Export As as a workaround.
Thank you for reporting this and your help with that little investigation.

    Aha, thanks for the file!

The text though stays whole for me when I use Save As > SVG, default profile (1.1):
    <text transform="matrix(1 0 0 1 19.746 48.8883)"><tspan x="0" y="0" class="st14 st15 st16">society for </tspan><tspan x="0" y="11" class="st14 st15 st16">organizational learning</tspan></text>
    <text transform="matrix(1 0 0 1 18.5309 69.8383)"><tspan x="0" y="0" class="st17 st18 st19 st20">GLOBAL ASSOCIATION</tspan><tspan x="0.3" y="6" class="st17 st18 st19 st20">OF SOL COMMUNITIES</tspan></text>
    <text transform="matrix(1 0 0 1 26.6038 84.7563)" class="st21 st22 st19">the SoL Global Network</text>

Again, what your method for saving an SVG? Save As, Export, Export for Screens? These give different results. Please provide more details.

Luca, can you check the kerning in the file? Optical or auto?
And can you attach both the original and resaved file and list settings you used when saving the original into SVG?

Yeah. Like AstuteBuddy for Astute Graphics tools, but better — show modifiers before the mouse key is pressed and not after. And maybe make the helper float near a cursor and not as a panel (which is tough to remember to open). Or you can expand the 'Show' field in the bottom that you have. See how your competitors do it, CorelDraw and Affinity Designer.

A linked image now has a link icon, 'a chain in a circle', unified across all Adobe apps (the bottom link in the list of Links).

An embedded image now has no icon (the upper link). Used to be quite opposite, a linked image had no icons, and embedded images had a 'picture' icon.

Kost, this is an intended change :(
Most of users who had the ability to rate it, were against it, exactly because it can be considered an error, as if embedded images are now linked, but were ignored.
I'm glad you raised it her. Maybe we'll be able to force a reconsideration if enough votes are made.
Unfortunately this change is made beyond Ai team, at CC level, so it should be large enough.

Kost, is this an image, an actual raster data?
The option works only for images and not vector artwork.
If this is just a black rectangle path, then it won’t be dimmed.
As far as I know — it never worked like you think it should.

Carolina, RGB and CMYK have difference color gamuts, so they should be looking different, no wonder.
Can you provide the vector file itself? It's hard to judge what is the problem by one image only (it looks fine to me, because I have no idea what were the original colors).
Also, what method of exporting the raster image are you using? (there are several of these in Ai, and some use different rasterization methods)

Kris, can you provide a file that has a text that gets converted into black?
I understand that it will be black... Does this get reproduced if you recolor it back to white and resave? If yes — please share.

I am a bit confused by it.
The screenshot obviously demonstrate the results of Object > Create Object Mosaic command, but form the text it feels more like a dynamic approach that exists in some online tools like various triangulators (https://www.behance.net/gallery/10543937/Image-Triangulator-App for example) and Mondrian-like splitters (https://www.picturetopeople.org/image_effects/photo_mosaic/artistic_mosaic_photo_effect.html for example).

Can you tell more or provide an example if you mean something else?

    Interesting.
First of all, you can use hotkeys, Ctrl+Shift+>, Ctrl+Shift+> and Ctrl+Alt+Shift+>, Ctrl+Alt+Shift+> (for larger steps) — by default they size up/down all selected text objects.

Also you can try a script that uses relative scaling instead:
    https://graphicdesign.stackexchange.com/questions/63103/scale-text-in-illustrator

Do these method work for you, Tyler?
