An error occurred while saving the comment For some reason you are missing the Blank Document Preset section in this tab.
But I agree, modern New File is ridiculous. I never use it.
Good that it can be turned off, in Preferences > General > Use legacy 'File New' interface — tick it on.
Moving the entry to bug reports. -

An error occurred while saving the comment I feel the problem! I am a metric myself, and have all units as 'mm'. Points are practically useless.
But I afraid this will bring so much confusion...
At least we have Font Height options now, to see true (almost!) x-height and cap height. Do you use them? -

An error occurred while saving the comment Indeed! Ctrl+Tab now cycles tabs, and there is no way to switch Selection and Direct Selection tools on the fly, when Ctrl modifier is used to temporarily switch into Selection!
For obvious reasons Ctrl+Tab is longer available for that. What other approach do you think can work for this switch?AdminEgor Chistyakov

An error occurred while saving the comment In this particular case you might want to try Convert to Straight Lines option it Simplify Dialog.
Also please try using Pathfinder’s Add operation with Remove Redundant Points option on (in panel’s options via panel’s menu).
And also please provide the file for testing (I understand you probably did not stored it, but I can’t reproduce it). -

Can be changed in Preferences > General > Use Precise cursors.
Also it can be easily switched on the fly with a press of Caps Lock — and this is the common reason for it to change.An error occurred while saving the comment Try Preferences > General > Use Precise cursors (or just press Caps Lock). Does it suffice?

Ai and Ps and other apps have slightly different paradigms for layers.
In Ps everything is a layer. In Ai 'layers' are usually 'root groups', and all objects, while being layered, are not called layers. So Delete does delete the selected objects, but the layer that does contain these, is always selected.... thus making Delete work for Layers will delete all objects on it, which is not suitable for a lot of users. We could have targeted a Layer... but there is no hotkey for that too! I believe having it would have solved the problem, and this is what I vote for.
