Technically, gradient swatches in Illustrator are secretly global, and if you modify manually one fill of one objects using the swatch, the linkage breaks... but it seems like it does not in your case. I’d love to know more. Please reply.AdminEgor Chistyakov

Pretty annoying.An error occurred while saving the comment Lance, I think I know what Ankit meant.
You won't be able to catch this manually, but it hits hard when you start using scripts that deal with gradients.

An error occurred while saving the comment Kate, I know you found a workaround, but is this still a problem with you Advance toolbar? Can you expand the subtools? If it does happen — does it happen only for this button, or other combined tools as well?

Also, there are [ and ] keys (that sadly work only with English keyboard layout properly — a note to international users).Some other tools with tips we can control with holding Opt/Alt and moving the cursor (without clicking), but these two (Eraser and Blob Brush) indeed don't share this behavior, Opt/Alt make them use rectangular mode and Smooth mode respectively...

An error occurred while saving the comment Susan, what if a user don’t need these to be auto-traced? What if I need an image to stay raster?
Alos, what do you mean by 'sending'? Is it copy-paste? or drag-n-drop a selection? or drag-n-drop a file?
What in the currently assumed workflow (place and hit Image Trace) you find inconvenient? Why do you need it to be automated, and how exactly? Please tell more. -

An error occurred while saving the comment Kürşad, do you mean that when Ai displays proxy images (when links are missing), the performance is OK, but with them present, it goes slow?
The current Beta does provide a WIP solution to this, which you can test. It sacrifices displaying annotations while panning and zooming (that is guides and grids), but it allows to stream the contents of the document much faster than it happens now.
Please, take a look at Beta (you can install it from you CCD app) and compare the performance.Also — InDesign has dedicated controls over the proxy display of images. What are your thoughts on this functionality?

Can you please open Preferences > Smart Guides and tell me it you have Transform Tools option checked?
If it does — can you try to disable it and compare the behavior?

An error occurred while saving the comment So I assume you are referring to a situation when you are isolated one or more levels deep into a nested design, and want to see how it all changes in general, but illustrator won’t update upper levels until you leave the current scope?
Then I see what you mean and would like to have it myself.
At first I thought that using Window > New Window might be a solution, but no — the second window synchronizes the current scope.The only workaround I know so far is not using symbols directly, but using temp symbols created with Global Edit.
You can create nested groups, multiply, transform, and then use Group Selection Tool to select the one you want to edit and call the mode. But — don’t isolate. Isolating makes these easier to edit, but disables the live update of your 'symbols'. And yes, 'live' here still means Ai will update copies only after you release the mouse, not while you are dragging it — which is still good enough.The other downside of the method is that Global Edit uses a tolerance we have no control over. And if after numerous edits Ai decides this particular copy is not similar enough to the original, there is no way to persuade it into adapting it back with a tolerance tweak — you’d have to manually replace the flawed duplicate.
Alos remember that some other settings for the mode we can tweak in Global Edit Options (available both in Properties and Control, under a small triangle button).Does it make any sense or do you need a demo?

An error occurred while saving the comment Although I know now why it happens — 'Highlight anchors on mouse over' in Selection & Anchor Display section of the Preferences — I still think that it is a problem. This function, being useful, overrides snapping in a way that acts like it.
An error occurred while saving the comment I have 'Snap to point' turned off in AI22.
But when I draw using Pen tool, it still snaps to point. -
