The solution is pushed into Global Availability build 28.6.
PDF is now available as type in File > Export > Export As dialog.
However, File > Adobe PDF Presets menu, similar to one InDesign has, to allow even quicker export, is absent still.
If you want to have it, please upvote this new request here: http://illustrator.uservoice.com/forums/333657/suggestions/48670088

The PDF export options would be sticky, so the filename, destination directory, PDF preset, and any overrides would be remembered. Next time you export a PDF you wouldn’t need to enter all that from scratch.
I am not expecting this feature anytime soon. I’m not the only one who’s been asking for this for years. Adobe is either unable to add the feature or unwilling to.
An error occurred while saving the comment Scott Falkner commentedHow the heck does this keep getting left out of every update? What more can we do to get someone at Adobe to hear how absolutely necessary this feature is?

An error occurred while saving the comment Scott Falkner commentedThis is yet another baffling example of Adobe’s incompetence. See also most of Illustrator. This is a suite of programs and there is no way to retain formatting when copying something as simple as text between applications. This is a disgrace.

An error occurred while saving the comment Scott Falkner commentedIn the Transform panel entering only a width or a height then pressing Command Enter (on a Macintosh) will enter the new value (either width or height) and scale the selection proportionally. For example, take an object that is 1 cm wide and 3 cm tall. Type 2 cm in the width field, press Command Enter, and you will find the object scaled to 2 cm wide and 6 cm tall.
Do this in the Properties panel and nothing happens. Command Enter is ignored and the new measurement is not applied (because you didn’t press Enter as far as the application is concerned).

An error occurred while saving the comment Scott Falkner commentedYou should post questions to https://community.adobe.com/t5/illustrator/bd-p/illustrator
This can easily be fixed by turning on Paste Remembers Layers in the Layers panel.

An error occurred while saving the comment Scott Falkner commentedWhen you duplicate objects using Object > Transform commands the duplicate is arranged above the original object. If you use Effect > Distort & Transform > Transform to make multiple copies of an object the copies are arranged below the original object. This is wrong. The original should be the rearmost object and each copy should be arranged above.
I realize that correcting this behaviour (and there can be no doubt the current behaviour is wrong) can break the appearance of some files. So instead of just switching the behaviour add an option in the dialogue to place each copy either above or below the original. The default should be above.

The latest 2022 release has the Discover window that you can quickly call using F1 by default, which searches most if the commands available.
Have you tried it? Please tell us how it differs from what you expect from the global search you have in mind? What is missing or can be improved?Scott Falkner supported this idea ·An error occurred while saving the comment Scott Falkner commentedThis sound a lot like InDesign’s Quick Apply, which is Command-Enter on Macintosh. Press the shortcut then start typing. The first hit is highlighted, but you can keep typing to fine tune the results. For example pressing just P might highlight Paste, but if you add R you might find Print highlighted. You can also scroll through results to select the desired command. Also, you’re not limited to menu commands; style names can also be selected. If is a much missed feature whenever I switch between both programs

The solution has already been proposed. Add PDF as a format for export.
