Need to Install Windows 2012 R2 Server
We need to be able to install and run Illustrator on Windows 2012 R2 server, and the latest version throws an error after checking windows os version, is there a way to modify this script.

Make the Initial Welcome screen have a link to Templates in addition to, being able to see a thumbnail as with .ai files
I create custom templates for many of my production designs using them from everything to robots to screen printing production.

I request that the print tiling tool be as easily accessible as it was in previous versions, it is currently too well hidden :)
it used to be an option nested with the #HandTool in your toolbar.

Live preview of gradient (while dragging)
Whenever I'm using the gradient tool I wonder why I can never see the appearance of the gradient while dragging it. resulting in having to tweak it at least a couple of times before I'm content.
17 votesIllustrator now displays the appearance of the gradient interactively when you drag it, but only when GPU preview is on.
Make sure it is on in Preferences > Performance > GPU Performance, that you View > Preview on CPU / GPU Preview is correctly toggled, and that you are not using Overprint Preview.
If the issue still persists with all these checked — please comment back.

I cannot see my file when I open it into Illustrator. The app opens but the file is hidden.
I cannot open my files into Illustrator. I try to open it but the app launches but no file is visible. I try to "Open file…" and it says that it is already opened. I cannot see it. I can only see it if I go to "Arrange" and "Float windows". This is a new issue.

Complaint
Illustrator 2019 23.0.1. sucks. I have been using adobe tools for over 20 years and this is the worst update you have ever released. Not only does it take forever to open any app including InDesign, PS, ILL and acrobat, but then it constantly freezes. I can't get any work done. You keep raising the price of the subscription, but your updates cost me more in time troubleshooting than anything else. The very basic grouping and selecting a group doesn't work in the new illustrator, I am using the most up to date OS on a 2 year old iMac.…

Export for Screen Quality of export
Not sure if it has been asked or discussed (spent way to much time searching for it and not finding it) but the "export for screens" exports terrible quality - mostly for jpg.
The quality is jagged and blurry when exporting a large graphic with text that has been outlined. Yet, when I use the legacy export for the same width and size I want, the quality is far superior whilst still having a small footprint in size.
Why is the legacy export, in any format, so much better than the "export for screens" that you have made default?

Rotate in Portrait Mode on Surface Pro
When rotating the Surface Pro from landscape to portrait, Illustrator will not stay in portrait mode. It reverts back to landscape.
Adobe Photoshop works in portrait mode.

Circles in Illustrator are not accurate
The circles in Illustrator are flawed and here's why.
I discovered a major bug in Illustrator CC. The circles in Illustrator are not accurate. This is the case regardless of whether you use the ellipse tool or the arc tool. Make a circle. Check the dimensions to make sure it's accurate. Draw a radius line at 0º. Copy it 3 times and rotate the copies 90º,180º and 270º. Save Illustrator pattern swatches to palettes in Creative Cloud libraries
It would be great to be able to save pattern fill swatches and pattern brushes, as patterns and brushes. Currently it works fine if you save a graphic that uses pattern fills and brushes. But for me it would be useful to save and organize them in their native Illustrator format.

113 votesWe have released the support for Pattern swatches in CC Library with our latest release - v29.3
You can select the swatch in swatches panel and add it to CC Library through the button on the bottom bar in the panel. You can also select any object which has pattern applied and add that pattern to CC Library through Add Elements (+ button at the bottom) from the Libraries panel and choose Fill Pattern from the drop-down menu.
Update to this version from your Creative Cloud Desktop application and let us know your feedback.

Make ImageTrace Like CS5 LiveTrace
ImageTrace may use less points but it completely gets rid of any ink bleed when tracing inked line art. The ink bleed was achievable with CS5 Live Trace but once ImageTrace was introduced it's not possible to achieve with any setting.
Please make ImageTrace great again, it was great as CS5 LiveTrace. Unbeatable. At least make CS5 available through Adobe CC subscription if nothing else.
I know I'm not the only one, please upvote if you feel the same way and miss the accuracy of CS5 LiveTrace.

hola! les escribo para dar una breve sugerencia la cual quizás ya fue propuesta por otra persona impaciente igual que yo... Si alguna vez jugaron al age of empires y fueron atacados podrán haberse dado cuenta que si configuraron sus ejércitos con anterioridad podrán defenderse mejor o incluso realizar un ataque mas efectivo. Esto se podría hacer seleccionando primero el objeto/texto y después apretando (control) mas un numero. De esta manera se podría hacer cambios de las distintas profundidades de diseño mas rápido, sin tener que mover todo para los costados si se quisiese cambiar algo el z-index 1.

We can access these the old way, via Select > Save Selection (and also Edit / Update Selection commands), or via a more modern way, with a small button at the bottom of the Layers panel.
Alas, there is no way to assign a keyboard shortcuts to quickly select them back, similar to what games offer, we are now forced to click this menus... On Windows we can press something like Alt+S, Up arrow, to quickly focus the bottom of the Select menu, followed by choosing a saved selection we need, followed by Enter — but it needs high APM :)
So I will treat this as 'Allow to ahve hotkeys for saving and loading Saved Selections'

File Specific "Export For Screen" Settings (mainly location)
As a designer with multiple files,
I want the ability to set the export for screens folder per file,
So that I don't have to constantly relocate the location of the output for each file I open up. It would be helpful to get **** done.- When exporting a file the location identified for the first time is saved for subsequent times I access to export.

Move close button away from save in File menu
Moving the Close button away from the Save button, maybe to just below Revert
Sounds like a sad fix but having the Save button right below the Close has caused me to lose original works due to accidentally pressing Save instead of close when i don't to save the changes made.
This has happened when my mouse has had a sudden glitch and not moved the .5mm needed to press the correct button. worse when you can't undo due to hitting the maximum number of undos
Not a major issue but anyone that has done this would know the pain…

Layer Panel Rename + tab
This one is (or sounds) easy and would mimick Photoshop’s function :
I need to be able to rename layers in a row without scripting, by simply typing tab to go to the next visible layer’s name.- it would really help with Character Animator's process.
Step by step :
I’m in the Layers panel.
Those are badly named (layer 1, layer 2, layer 7…)
I double click on the top layer (1) name to change it.
I type « item A »
Then i press Tab once.

Release to Layers should inherit custom names from original objects
When I Release to Layers, all of the objects within that layer are renamed to "Layer 1, Layer 2, Layer 3" etc. and I'd love to be able to have the new layers be named the same as when they were objects.

Ability to use separate graphic styles on strokes versus fills
the title basically says it all.
i would like to apply a graphic style to an object's stroke, and apply a separate graphic style, or more likely no style to that object's fill. this way i can alter the stroke of many objects at once, without altering their fill color.
typically i have illustrations with 100s of groups each consisting of 100s of faces with the same stroke style, but different fill colors. in the course of design, i need to tweak the stroke color and weight to get the right look, but it's extremely tedious to have to click…

Place multiple files in a grid like InDesign (Gridify)
InDesign has a very nifty feature that I would like to see in Illustrator; if you press the arrow keys while placing multiple files at once, you can create a "grid" of said files. Depending on the job I'm working on, I have to place hundreds of files at once... Having this feature would streamline a lot of my projects.
