1. Angular Smart Guides for everything, similar to those Snap to Glyph has

   There is a lesser known Snap to Glyph command in context menu, which allow you to snap to any live glyph under cursor. It requires Smart Guides and Snap tp Glyph commands enabled (and Snap to Grid disabled).

   Once you enter the mode, the chosen glyph is highlighted with a rectangle, and you are able to construct new art relative to points of this live glyph, as if it was outlined.
   These guides are green, similar to normal Glyph Guides, but some guides are unique to this mode, like the 'angular' one — which allows us to build on a continuation of an existing straight line — similar to what 'Line Extension' smart guide does (when not broken).

   This guide is missing in a non-glyph world, and it’s rather cool, and we’d benefit from having it for everything else, for all other tools: Pen, Selection, Scale... Please make it happen and add it as a n option in Preferences > Smart Guides.

2. Show build number on splash screen

   Ai is evergreen, sure, SaaS and things...

   But it’s extremely important to know what exact build we are using all the time since features and bugs differ.
   Help > About shows the build number, but why not show it directly on the splash screen as well?

3. Always call guides as 'guides'

   Open Layers and Control panels.

   Enable rulers and drag a guide from one.
   Take a look at how the selected guide is called:
   — <Guide> in Layers
   — Path in Control

   Now create a rectangle and a line, and also draw a path with the Pencil.
   Convert all three to guides with View > Guides > Make Guides (Cmd/Ctrl + 5).
   Compare the names:
   — <Rectangle> and <Line> but <Guide> in Layers
   — Rectangle and Line but Path in Control

   Sure, these first two are technically live shapes (and have dedicated controls in Control)... but also are guides. Why Ai is inconsistent with it? Why aren’t some guides thus named as 'guides'?

   I can’t say a guide dragged from the ruler is NOT a path, it is, and it has its length limited to the canvas, and can be dragged sideways or converted into a simple path, or a live line (that’s why this request about making guides to behave more like in InDesign exists: http://illustrator.uservoice.com/forums/333657/suggestions/37211029).

   But again, why are these called guides (while being paths), but manually converted paths change their names in Layers only when aren’t live shapes?

4. Add Fresco Vector Brush technology into Illustrator

   Not sure why this still hasn't happened yet, but the vector brush in Fresco is superior to any of the vector brushes Illustrator currently provides for traditional style drawing/inking. Be great to have it for desktop vector drawing. Especially if there aren't' any intentions of bringing Fresco into OSX...

5. Add "Embed Images" to Menu/Actions

   Working with multiple print files requires manual embedding of each linked image, which is time-consuming. Please add "Embed Images" to either:

   • The Actions panel for batch processing, or
   • The menu system to allow keyboard shortcut assignment

   This would significantly improve workflow efficiency in print production environments.

6. Remember if Artboard or Asset Tab Last Used in Asset Export dialog

   Please remember the last tab in the Asset Export window I was on. It defaults to Assets when I usually use Artboards due to the naming convention I build across artboards. GUI for it is still a bit rough and could use some enhancements. Thx

7. Make Document Info Panel show Objects by default

9. Allow targeting layers with no unlocked/visible paths in them.

   You can target a layer to apply an appearance by clicking on the circle to the right of its name in the Appearance palette.

   This is not possible, however, if the layer is empty.

   This is also not possible if the only thing the layer contains is empty layers.

   This is also not possible if all the children of the layer are locked. Or invisible.

   There must be at least one unlocked, visible non-layer object in a layer before you can target it.

   I am most often annoyed by trying and failing to target a layer with a bunch of locked child layers in it, but I would like to see all of these restrictions lifted, so that it's much easier to apply effects to nested layer structures.

10. Uniform dashes at end of paths

    It would be great to have uniform dashes at the end of paths when
    "Aligns dashes to corners and path ends, adjusting lengths to fit" is on.

    Currently we seem to get half sized dashes with this option on

11. Scrollable tabs

    I would like if the Ai interface was less "cluttered" and "manual" to use.

    Specifically, as in the case of having many tabs open than they fit in the viewport, I have to click on the double chevrons (>>) to only be able to open one file at a time. Rather, would you guys consider making it scrollable?

    Dans les montages graphiques, sa serais beaucoup plus pratique d'utiliser les mesures Fraction que de chercher les mesure en décimal qui est difficile à certain moment.

    C'est un outils et messure très essentiel dans la zone Américain/Canadienne ( Amérique du Nord ).

    In the "Properties" box, in the L: & H: section, added Fractional measurements and allowed the conversion of decimals to fractions. Fractions are, for example: 1/4, 1/2, 3/4, 1/8, 1/16, etc.

    Be able to manually enter, as shown, 1/4, which automatically converts to decimal, 0.25in (inch), and so on.

    In graphical layouts, it would be much more convenient to use Fractional measurements than to search for decimal measurements, which is sometimes difficult.

    This is a very essential tool and measurement in the American/Canadian (North American) region.

15. Puppet Warp and Free Transform should respect existing layer structures.

    I love Puppet Warp but I hate having to ungroup my paths and put them back in the layer structure that works for me when I'm done using Puppet Warp.

    Please do whatever needs to be done so that I can grab a bunch of paths about multiple layers, Puppet Warp them, and have them stay in the same place they were before I did this. I'm fine if it's a switch in the tool's settings because some people love this behavior.

16. Make color choosing UI consistent

    I never like it when the big color chooser with the square color gradient and numeric fields pop up.
    Why does it exist?
    Would like to have a user preference to choose the color picker in stead of having Illustrator to popup with several different color mixers.

    When double clicking the stroke or fill color, the big unusefull (imho) thing pops up, when clicking a swatch, a compact mixer pops up.

    For me, it would be nice to construct my own combination of color mixers: RGB and HSB in 1 view, with sliders, without the big picking gradient, without cmyk, without hex. And with a context sensitive button 'Add to Swatches'.

17. Allow to set a linear guide by 2 points and an arc guide by 3 points

    I would like to suggest the addition of 2-point guides, the ability to rotate guides, and 3-point guides for circular guides. This would allow for dynamic guides that can be adapted to any type of design.

18. Make Split Into Grid applied to a path to respect the path’s outline

    Did some playing around with Split Into Grid and got an unexpected result. I had hoped a shape would split into a grid but each shape is converted to a square!

    Is this what's meant to happen?

19. Automatically pick a key object from a selection as a target path when using Object > Object on Path > Attach command

    Illustrator allows us to set a key object by clicking one of selected objects, to perform align and distribute operations (sadly, a very underutilized method!)

    But Objects on Path doesn’t use this method at all, technically being an align & distribute operation.

    If I have a selection and marked one object as a key one already, after calling Object > Object on Path > Attach command I STILL have to click a target path! I already made my choice before running the command, why does it force me to make a choice twice and precisely click again?

    A clear miss. Please integrate existing workflows better.

20. Add a quick way to toggle the alignment of a stoke (Center, Inside, Outside): with Opt/Alt-click and/or a hotkey

    There are many modes, states, values in Ai that require precise clicking in a tiny button or a field to toggle or change. We need faster ways to access these.

    A keyboard shortcut to quickly toggle how the current stroke is aligned would be nice to have... for those who prefer clicking, Opt/Alt could be added to avoid precise aiming, just to loop through the modes.
