  1. Expand selection

    when I have something selected, I can shift+option click the art board somewhere else to expand my selection box and select everything between.

  2. Lamé / Squircle rounded corners

    It would be great to add a way to create Lamé curved corners with rounded corners. (See the section "Optical corner rounding" in https://medium.muz.li/optical-effects-9fca82b4cd9a for an example of this.) Right now, one can make geometric round corners in Adobe Illustrator (and InDesign), but it would add greater flexibility to designs to use Lamé curves to create these more nuanced curves.

  3. More desciptive warning

    When switching to CMYK in the New Document panel, a yellop triangle with an exclamation mark appears.
    Why? No further info is given.

  4. .DXF compound shape support

    Illustrator doesn't seem to support exporting compound shapes in a .DXF file. Corel does so it must be possible. This lack of support means that you cannot have text in a DXF file.

  5. Close tabs to the right

    Internet browsers have this option to "close tabs to the right" when right clicking on an open tab. I feel like this could be a nice extra to all of the Adobe programs, where one can work with tabs.

  6. Please Warn when saving working file to PDF without AI edibility

    I was working on a file for half the day - making layers, groups and text styles. I had it all the way I wanted it, ready to add some translated text tomorrow. I saved and closed, not realizing that the original file I opened was a PDF that had be saved without Illustrator editing.
    The result was that everything was collected into one layer with nested clipping paths, and all my carefully formatted text was broken apart. (a few random lines were even converted to outlines)

  7. Allow drag and drop of cropped images like InDesign does

    It will be great time saving if i can quickly replace an image just by dragging and dropping an image into a frame of a cropped image like i can do in InDesign. I too slow to have to look for the new link of the image open finder search thumbnails, etc. Could that be possible?

  8. Make the hex code box visible for all color modes on the color panel. Not just RGB modes.

    I only ever use HSB to dial in my color and it slows me down to double click on the color to only have to copy the hex code in a different window. The only modes that currently have a box that displays the hex code are RGB or WebsafeRGB. This is missing for all other modes such as HSB, CMYK and Grayscale. Make the hex code box visible for all color modes on the color panel, please.

  9. Define the Start and Stop of a Variable Width Profile on a closed path

    When using a Variable Width Profile on a closed path the starting and end points are arbitrarily chosen. It would be nice to have an additional option to move the starting point around a path and not necessarily on a anchor point, instead of being forced to cut the path to reset the start.

  10. Join Separate paths

    If you have lots of separate, exploded lines (say from DWG/DXF import, then you should be able to use an alternative of Ctrl+J to join them back together without them trying to join end to end.

    That is to say, if paths are adjacent to each other they are joined. But the ends of non adjacent paths aren't then closed up as well. Really basic idea, but somehow overlooked.

    Sure, it's easy to Ctrl+J a few disparate, exploded paths. But for 20+, 50+, it's a joke.

  11. File Management

    Hi, it would be a great feature in Illustrator if you could see at a glance where the illustrator file is linked eg Indesign or Framemaker.

    This would help massively and save considerable time when updating files that use the same linked Illustrator file.

  13. Make Limited color palette in Image Trace allow more than 30 colors

    Why is "Limited" Color Palette restricted to 30 colors? I often need a few hundred but not as many as Automatic gives. And Automatic would be great if the Color Slider actually worked proportionally but it randomly goes from over 1000 colors to less than 30 or some unsatisfying number, not the smooth curve one would expect. Therefore I have to use the superior Live Trace feature on my old Mac with CS on it. Either lift the restriction on Limited or make Automatic perform according to the slider.

  14. Draw/brush selection

    I work with pixel art. When I select I need to click on every single pixel to change color, if it's not simple shapes like a rectangle that I can marquee and select. If I draw, I just drag the pixels around accidentally. I would like to draw a selection with a brush (any brush I like), and that whatever is covered beneath what I draw by the brush gets selected. And it shall be in a mode that no pixels or objects or anything is dragged around.

  15. Clip to Artboard selection before rendering Preview

    When I have a large project with many artboards and I want to export just one, I always have to wait for the entire project to render before I can select Clip to Artboard. If however, there was a dialog box asking clip to the artboard or not before rendering the preview, it would save the time of rendering a preview that isn't always necessary.

  17. Make international monetary symbols work with fonts already!! Its almost 2020!

    Many of the international monetary symbols will not work in adobe illustrator without work arounds, but ℳ this symbol wont work in illustrator no matter what I do. What gives?

  19. Do not change the order of characters in the Glyphs panel

    Problem Description:
    If I've highlighted a character, and choose a different variation of that character in the Glyphs panel, the newly chosen variation moves to the left of the glyphs, changing the order of all the glyphs. This is really annoying. If, instead of the order of the glyphs changing, the blue highlight just moved on to the selected glyph, that would be far less confusing.

    Steps to Reproduce:
    1. Select a character in some text
    2. Open the Glyphs panel to see the variations of that character
    3. Select a different variation

    Actual Result:
    The ordering of the variations…

  20. export past 2400 pixels

    print on demand vendors take files up to and beyond 6500 pixels, for blankets and curtains and such. illustrator isn't just for web/mobile devices.
