2. Allow to hold Shift to force Aligned (orthogonal) Dimensions

   Ai now tries to smartly detect a relative position of the cursor to a dimension being created and choose if it should be parallel or oblique.

   This sound like a smart solution, but in practice is SUCKS.

   Take a look at this small GIF.
   1. The dimension between two objects is live, and responds to the object being moved up and down fine
   2. But if I choose to move it to the right, it says 'hey, I am a dimension between two points, I’m switching to be slanted'
   3. OK, I delete it and try to create anew. STRUGGLING, because the space is tight, and if I move the mouse too much, it thinks I try to create a horizontal one. Finally I am able to catch the sweet (sour) spot, and caaaarefully move it back holding my breath.
   4. Now it’s an orthogonal (aligned) dimension and I can realign my object back or move without a risk of loosing the status.

   But we can’t covert 'manual' dimensions into 'aligned' one!
   We can’t hold Shift to FORCE it to be aligned!
   WTF?!

3. Warn about text elements in a document

   Greetings, team. I have a suggestion to enhance your fantastic design software. I frequently work with tiny text elements in my vector art designs for textile sublimation. The challenge lies in the sheer volume of items I create daily, each with various sizes and variations. Sometimes, I inadvertently include text within the art, only to notice it after printing. To address this, I propose the creation of a 'guide text' feature. This text could be visible during the design process but excluded from the final print. 4. 透明分割を分割統合すると、レイヤーの位置が変わる

   あるレイヤーを、添付画像の設定で「透明分割を分割統合」すると、レイヤーウインドウの中のレイヤーの位置が、一番上に来てしまうエラーがあります。

5. Add Cmd/Ctrl+Shift+X as a text modal keyboard shortcut for strikethrough text

   Recently Ai finally added hotkeys slots for text formatting (following this request: http://illustrator.uservoice.com/forums/333657/suggestions/33679330) — for bold, Underline, Italics.

   We need more.
   Even though Strikethrough (as well as Underline) in Ai is very basic and does not allow customization (here is a request about both: http://illustrator.uservoice.com/forums/333657/suggestions/48103976), we need at least an empty hotkey slot for it. Most apps support Cmd/Ctrl+Shift+X for this, so I suggest the same combination.

6. Images with the file name underneath.

   Would be great if you could place images on to an artboard and have the option to display the files name underneath the image.
   This would be great when designing images for Etsy showing the customer the choice of images they can choose and then tell you the file name of their chosen image.

7. Allow to make menus and dropdowns more compact on smaller screens

   Anything under 1920x1080 does not allow for UI scaling. I use the drop down menus a lot. When I have to also scroll on each drop down menu it causes a lot of time loss. If I could scale the menu lists to remove the need to scroll it would be very helpful.

   I see that the tab/menu for Effect is still an older style menu list. It's much more compact.

   Maybe there is a way to revert all the menu lists to that older style?

9. Improve Assigning Color Profile

   I’ve been running into some challenges with color profiles in Adobe Illustrator that I think could use improvement. Every time I open a document, I’m asked to either assign or discard a color profile. The issue is, even when I choose and save the file, Illustrator asks me again when I reopen it. Is there a reason it’s not saving my choice?

   Another thing that could help a lot is when working with multiple images, like 20 or more. Instead of getting prompted one by one for each image, it would be much faster if I could see a list and just check which images I want to assign a color profile to. Right now, it feels tedious, and it doesn’t seem to remember my selections.

   I know I can turn off the prompts, but since I still need to convert the images, having a faster method would be great.

   It might also be really helpful if Adobe created a simple course or video that explains how to handle color profiles. There doesn’t seem to be much clear guidance available for this.

   I’ve been running into some challenges with color profiles in Adobe Illustrator that I think could use improvement. 10. Dimensions layer should stay locked

    Since you decided to force the creation of a specialized Dimensions layer on us when a dimensions is created (and here is a feature request to make this optional: http://illustrator.uservoice.com/forums/333657/suggestions/48236954), we now have a problem with accidental creation of art directly in this dedicated layer, since every time a dimension is selected, this layer gets active and unlocked (reported here: http://illustrator.uservoice.com/forums/939477/suggestions/47570813)

    Since you probably don’t really care, and won’t solve both issues, perhaps you should keep this layer locked and not unlock until we choose to.
    Perhaps you should make the Dimension tool lock-agnostic then, and allow it to edit and created dimensions in this locked layer (which will prevent every other tool accessing it).

    Do something already.

11. Allow Live Paint selection to have complex appearance

    Using Live Paint Selection Tool, we can choose sections of the Live Paint objects, areas and segments of contours, assigning fills and color to them.

    But what we can assign is rather basic (the same as for live characters, and the related request about the same deal is here: http://illustrator.uservoice.com/forums/333657/suggestions/46545787)
    We can’t assign a brush, change order of appearance attributes, add a second fill and offset it, assign any effect to it, distort or roughen — only fill under stroke, no stroke alignment (even though the panel lies it can be done), no arrowheads... at least dash count as basic apperance.

    We need more control over it. We need to be able to control appearance for Lve Paint selections fully.

13. Display Move Locked and Hidden Artwork with Artboard option in Control panel and Properties while using Artboard tool / mode

    The Move Locked and Hidden Artwork with Artboard option should be displayed when the user is actually in the "Edit Artboard" mode, using the Artboard tool. It is common problem when you want to duplicate an artboard and you have locked background. In most cases, I want to move my artwork with the background.

14. Rename a document from its tab

    Illustrator allows to to set a name for a new document in File > New dialog (both modern and classic one). But once a document is created, you no longer can change the name until it’s saved.

    If a user want to set a name, but not ready to save, they have no other choice other then save. While it’s OK to have an unsaved document with a specified name, you are given the chance to name it once until then. Not fair.

    Perhaps you should allow users to rename any document for it’s tab?
    Probably not with a single click, since it will greatly distract users with false recognition (I don’t even doubt this), but maybe a context menu command? a double-click?

    Then, it’s another related, about renaming opened files in general:

    In Libraries:
    .AI files are editable with a ctrl-click > Edit
    .PDF are not.

    Please allow PDF files to be open in Adobe Illustrator.

17. Clip to key object

    Illustrator allows to set a key object in a selection with a click. The object gets thick edge and can be used for aligning and distributing operation, to stay in place.

    This simple way of marking an object is used only for these, and it’s a waste.
    We need to be able to use key objects for other operations as well.

    For example, why not allow users to clip into the key object, if it’s set? Currently we would have to move it above other objects in a selection, reselect them together, and hope we didn’t mess it up... or cut the objects we need to clip, select the one to be a mask, toggle Draw Inside mode, Paste in Place (works if we need to save the appearance of the clipping path).

    Why just not
    1. Select objects
    2. Click one to make it a key
    3. Run Object > Clipping Mask > Make command (Cmd/Ctrl+7)?
    Zero extra steps. No problems with 'should it be at top or bottom'.

    However, when you have objects unnamed, this list doesn’t really help, and Ai does nothing to highlight the object in focus and help to distinguish from other locked ones.

    Ai should make the edge of the object to be unlocked with a thick line, similar to one we see on key objects, or a somewhat similar look it is used for Objects on Path picking mode (now in Beta).

    Look how Figma highlights objects (see the attached video).
