Please make Mirror easier to use
The Mirror tool is such a hassle to use and get it working. People, can you please make it an easy toggle to turn off and on, that you can use right away, similar to programs like Procreate and Clip Studio Paint?

Scaling is messed up for the effect tab and font tab
The effects tab won’t scale to a larger size like 200% when on a small drawing display, the font tab also has problem with not shrinking down and stays too large clipping into the secondary screen. Can you please fix these two things?

Adjust colors to Black/White with a Threshold
I am missing an easy way to convert illustrator selections to pure black and white (not grayscale).
Comes in handy especially with Gen AI, since that does not understand how to create pure black and white results.2 votes -
Allow export file name to be customized
Currently, if I try to export all artboards separately, the export function automatically adds "{ArtBoardName}". For example, if the filename is ABC, and the artboards are 01 and 02, then I get two files: ABC01 and ABC_02. As far as I know, we cannot customize how the file name output format is. So if I want to have the filename to be using "ABC - 01" and "ABC - 02", t hen I would have export everything and then rename them. I think it would be useful to have a way to customize how the name should be constructed.

Swap values in Transform / Move
Surprised this software still doesn't have a simple toggle arrow button in it's Transform menus.
Like, swiping values between the Horizontal and Vertical planes with the Move tool.
Seems like an easy addition!

Add a Delayed Render toggle and Render button to reduce re-renders
Performance suggestion: as a panel, every adjustment causes the object to re-render, so fine-tuning the settings takes a long time. Maybe put a Render button on bottom with an on/off toggle switch labeled something like Delayed Render. Kind of like how Excel does it with Pivot Table updates.

Illustrator should respect path direction when creating a compound path
When creating a Compound Path from a selection, Illustrator does some things to the path directions to make it work for simple situations. But for more advanced artwork, the user should be able to set the path direction (by drawing, scripting or invoking the reverse path direction function) before applying the Make Compound Path command. This command should then not change any path direction, but apply the fill according to the path direction scheme.
We can correct path direction of compound paths in the Attributes panel, but for complex situations (e.g. hundreds of concentric circles) this feels rather stupid.
Please make the command work for any amount of paths with the same path direction, and let it respect path directions, if the path directions differ.
In the current version, it only works for the maximum of 3 concentric paths (see image).

Make the Illustrator Home Screen Responsive
Problem:
Right now, the Home screen is center-justified and fixed-width. On wide monitors, this creates huge blank space between the left sidebar and the file previews. Even worse, recent projects are hidden off-screen until the app window is stretched far enough. They don’t wrap, resize, or scroll, they just vanish. Why this sucks:
Users with wide displays waste massive amounts of screen real estate.
Important files appear to be “missing” unless you manually widen the window.
The layout looks like an old webpage centered in a box, not professional software.Screenshots attached:
Welcome screen: can’t see all projects unless window is widened.
Expanded window: giant blank void in the middle, wasted space.Request:
Left-align the project thumbnails with the sidebar.
Allow thumbnails to wrap or scale to fit the window.
Add scrollbars if content exceeds the viewport, instead of hiding files.
(Optional) Give users the ability to choose how the grid is anchored: left, center, or responsive. This would make Illustrator feel modern and stop punishing users with large/wide monitors.

Support compressing images with WebP when exporting via Adobe PDF Presets
When exporting a PDF, there are several options to compress images: JPEG, JPEG 2000, ZIP. And we can choose the image quality, from Min to Max. To a degree, PDF file sizes can be reduced with these settings, but at a certain point the image quality is too poor for anything meaningful. WebP has incredibly high quality for a low file size, plus it supports an alpha channel.
This feature would automatically benefit Photoshop and InDesign as well, as they share these presets.

Right side docked panels overlap document tabs & ruler
When the dock is placed at the top, opening palettes (like Swatches) overlaps and blocks:
• Document tabs (when many are open)
• The double arrow used to access hidden tabs
• The rightmost part of the rulerWhen the dock is placed at the bottom, palettes don’t block the document tabs, but they still cover part of the ruler.
The palettes should dynamically adjust so they never block tabs, the tab overflow control, or the ruler—regardless of dock position.

2 votes -
Persistant "Try Now" and "Learn More" toast/nags should time out
These grey feature nag alerts now appear for various features with calls-to-action like "Try Now" and "Learn More" eg. rearrange artboards, pasting to multiple artboards, ungrouping multiple/nested groups
Unexpected behaviour: These alerts only close when the user clicks the little X on the right.
Preferred behaviour:
– These alerts should close after a certain time (say 10 seconds) or after a number of interactions on the artboard (say 10 clicks)
– There should be an option to disable these alertsReason: Some users don't want ANY interruptions or distractions while working.
While I understand the benefit/opportunity to coach/educate about new features in the moment, this is feeling more like a pop-up ad than a helpful nudge.

Better Interface for Document Setup / Artboard properties
When working with only one Artboard (in my case: 99% of my projects), it feels very uncomfortable to change the size via Document Setup - this shows a button 'Edit Artboards'. Clicking that button doesn't give any feedback to the user. We still have to find and click 'Properties'. Three clicks for such a fundamentals task. My requests:
1. Please integrate the Artboard size of a single Artboard document directly in the Document Setup panel.
2. When clicking 'Edit Artboards', open or bring to front the Properties panel.

Groups Created from Outlined Text Should Inherit Text Object Names
When converting a text object to outlines, the resulting group is automatically given the default group name, which I find inappropriate. It would be better if the group inherited the original text object’s name.
In cases where the user has not assigned a custom name to the text object, and Illustrator displays the actual text content as the object’s name in the UI, that same text content should also be used as the name of the new group after outlining.

Smoothing options for drawing tools like in Photoshop
Please add a customizable “tension delay” or “string tension” feature to the Pencil, Paintbrush, and other drawing tools — similar to Photoshop Painter’s input lag option — so that strokes mimic smooth, flowing tension, as if a string or spring is gently guiding the cursor.
Additionally, include the ability to adjust stroke width dynamically within the Pencil and Paintbrush tools, allowing for more expressive and controlled line variation.
Why this is valuable:
- Enables smoother, more controlled freehand strokes — ideal for illustrators seeking precise, fluid lines.
- Adjustable tension slider lets users fine-tune responsiveness to match their drawing style.
- Dynamic stroke width adjustment provides greater versatility and expression.
- Improves accuracy, reduces jitter, and enhances the quality of digital freehand drawing. Please add a customizable “tension delay” or “string tension” feature to the Pencil, Paintbrush, and other drawing tools — similar to Photoshop Painter’s input lag option — so that strokes mimic smooth, flowing tension, as if a string or spring is gently guiding the cursor.

Add an option to hide the color spectrum bar at the bottom of the Color panel
I would like to request an option to hide the color spectrum bar located at the bottom of the Color panel.
For users who input colors using CMYK or RGB percentages, the color spectrum bar becomes an obstruction. This is particularly problematic when switching to a smaller panel docked below the Color panel, as the spectrum can display with an excessively tall vertical height. Having to manually resize the Color panel every time just to make the color spectrum smaller is cumbersome.
Please consider implementing this feature.

Always Scale Proportionally when Shift Constraint is held using the Scale tool
Holding SHIFT to constrain scaling proportionally should always constrain as long as shift is held.
Using the Scale tool (s) if you hold shift and scale, you need to stay close to a 45 degree path when dragging in order to keep the proportions locked. Illustrator EASILY unlocks the proportionate scaling when the users deviates a small amount from 45 degrees. It's very easy to do as a user and the amounts can be small depending on the degree the user moves. So it's very very easy to accidentally scale something to almost proportional size such as w:100% h: 92% while the SHIFT key is being held.
I wish holding SHIFT would simple lock proportions regardless of the angle I choose to drag. If I wanted freeform then I should be able to release SHIFT or not use at all.Holding SHIFT to constrain scaling proportionally should always constrain as long as shift is held.
