Simulate "Crown-Shyness"
Crown-shyness is a phenomenon in which the crowns of trees do not touch each other, forming a canopy with channel-like gaps.
The idea for the effect is that when multiple objects are overlapped, the effect will deform the objects so a gap is created (with a user-defined width). Alternatively, when a group of objects near to one another are bloated, or the path is offset (to a positive degree), the objects will not overlap but instead leave a gap.
An additional setting could allow the user to decide whether the effect will apply to path overlaps within a single object; so for example, if a cloverleaf shape was offset, the individual leaves would overlap... but with the effect applied, the leaves would expand outward but leave a gap between them.Crown-shyness is a phenomenon in which the crowns of trees do not touch each other, forming a canopy with channel-like gaps.

Snap to guide at one zoom level is perfect at all zoom levels.
After setting up guides, I want to be able to snap an object to that guide and have it be perfectly aligned to that guide at all zoom levels. So if I align an object to that guide at 50% zoom, I want it to be perfectly snapped when I zoom in at 640000% zoom (or whatever). I’ve wasted so much time over the years and many versions of AI aligning at one zoom level and then zooming in as much as it will go to readjust to a perfect alignment because it didn’t work at the prior zoom level. This is a basic function that should prioritized over dropping in bloated extra stuff into the software.

Window of "Save for web" > could you first load a small image?
Window of "Save for web" >could you first load a small image (like 1000 X 1000) and then allow US to make it bigger if necessary? Load time is so long. It can take up to 2 minutes (with a good 2021 computer), if the software doesn't crash.
Thank you!

Add separation preview toggle to Share for Review
When SHARE FOR REVIEW with a stake holder
Since it is basically a PDF, it would be nice if there was a way to toggle of the separations, especially if it is a spot color only set up and separations are important? or process and a spot color? Is this possible2 votes -
Rotating objects difficult with 5K monitor
On smallish objects, I have to zoom in way too far before the rotate handles show up on an object. It was annoying on the 4k monitor. On the 5k monitor it is more than annoying – it's a disruption. (200% zoom on and 1920px artboard) for a 10px object.

Control panel like that of Indesign
I've always liked Indesign, especially its control panel top bar.
I was wondering but is it not possible to have a control bar in Illustrator like the one in Indesign?
- bigger
- With More controls
- Dynamics
- By inserting quick links to many features that Illustrator makes available to us but every time you have to go and get them from the menus / submenus and you never remember where to go.
guy:
- object / path / path path
- object / path / offset
- object / path / add points
- object / weave
- object / repeat
- object / merger
- object / artboard / ....
- text / uppercase, lowercase ....
- ..... and many other itemsI've always liked Indesign, especially its control panel top bar.

Font unit change Adobe Illustrator
Unfortunately, you have to laboriously change the font unit from e.g. pt to mm and vice versa in the presets.
A switch in the character panel would be desirable.
You can also change the letter height there. Here, however, the mm specification is required in most cases.
However, we use this function to quickly check the font height in mm.
We would welcome a feature expansion.2 votes -
New layer ordering
Would LOVE a "preference" option to choose whether your new layers/artboards appear above the existing layers/artboards or below them.

Type in stroke width value instead of pull down menu in Character styles
In Character Styles the stroke width only provides a pull down menu to choose from. It would be better if we could type in an exact value.
The stroke width of texts needs to be very precise in my work, but the pull down menu is too limited to provide an accurate enough value. (The gaps between available options in the menu are too big.)When I create a new character style by selecting text and adding a new style, the style contains the correct stroke width. But when I need to adjust the width afterwards I can only pick from the pull down menu, and those values differ too much from the original value.
The normal stroke palette works better - it allows to add a random value and unit.

Split color chips in Swatches diagonally, to simplify color picking
Instead of the fill/stroke toggle, split each swatch diagonally. Top left is stroke, bottom right is fill. One click instead of (so frequently) two, and no more unintentionally filling when you meant to stroke..

Preview of artboard before project starts
Please allow for us to see a preview of the new project we are starting. When we set the dimensions or pick a preset dimensions, we can only see those grey outlined pictures. With this new feature, we would be able to see a "sample" of what our artboard is going to look like as a blank white canvas. It's basically a preview of the artboard before we officially start the project. Especially if we are typing in custom dimensions rather than choosing the set dimensions Adobe has already. Thank you guys :)

Preview brushes like I can in Photoshop
In Photoshop, when I open brushes, I can see a preview of all my brushes. In Illustrator, if I want to use any brushes, I have to first load a library based on the name of the library. I have dozens of libraries, and often they all have similar-sounding names. Not only is it frustrating to open the same couple of libraries EVERY TIME I open Illustrator, but I have tons of brushes I probably never use because I don't want to individually load 50 different libraries just so I can find a brush that looks like what I need.
Also can we open all brushes in one panel/tab please? I don't need to have six different panels/tabs open to use multiple brushes.
I feel like I need to emphasize that I have tons of brushes, and I'm at the point where I needed to draw a quick liquid-looking smear. It was faster to go to a royalty-free site and download a vector of a liquid-looking smear than it was to find the right brush in my library. For something that would have taken me about ten seconds to draw if I could find the brush quickly.

Make the spellcheck dictionary global.
Words saved to the dictionary so not persist across multiple document. Please change this behavior or add a preference to save the word to a global dictionary that also survives restarts.

Could you please allow to move the color control pop up menu, when adjusting the gradient point?
Have the option to move the pop up menu to different location. Not right on top of the artwork you're trying to fix?

SVG scalable vector export option for use in Microsoft applications
Please include an .svg format without code or mobile device use that will hold clipping, gradients, etc. to use as scalable vector artwork to be placed in MSO applications. This was not an issue in previous versions of Illustrator.
I provide scalable vector artwork from my projects for my clients who work in Microsoft applications by placing "Picture from File" in a PowerPoint Catalog.
When exporting, I get an error message: "Clipping will be lost on roundtrip to Tiny" when opening them back up and the artwork is distorted.
I got better results with "Save a copy" however, I still get the error message: "Clipping will be lost on roundtrip to Tiny" and I must open each asset to clean up clipping errors.
It would be nice to be able to export an SVG version without code etc. (though accessible description option would be nice :-)
(FYI: I use to be able to place vector PDFs but they end up rasterizing so I switched to .svg)

Double tap keyboard shortcut key to open dialogue box.
This should speed up workflow for advanced users and help students learn tools & access dialogue windows faster.
For example: ‘W’ brings up the blend tool.
‘W+W’ brings up the blend options dialogue‘R’ brings up the rotate tool. ‘R+R’ brings up the rotate dialogue.
I understand you can double click the blend toolbar icon to bring up the dialogue, or go to properties to adjust rotation. Why not double tap to stream line the entire process.
As a lecturer it would help students immensely. Learners usually look for (hover over) the icon and click, then navigate the menu to find the dialogue. This way they would learn the shortcut and then simultaneously know how to access the dialogue.

Ability to warp more precisely
I work in the label industry and we have to warp artwork for tapered containers.
We find that we need to be between whole numbers of a percent.
Is it possible to have the ability to warp 1.3% without it just rounding down or up to the nearest whole number?

Highlight last used field
Best feature in Indesign is to jump back to last used field using a keyboard shortcut. I think this should definitely be part of every application, including Adobe Illustrator. That is, similar to Indesign:
Activate last-used field in panel --- Default: Opt+Cmd+`
This should be a great addition to all the Adobe Applications.

Square ZIG-ZAG effect
I'm surprised that a zig-zag feature is missing a "square" effect (see photo). It seems pretty basic thing since you have other types of vawy lines. Shouldn't be that much harder to implement compared to other effects.
