Menu and Tool UI text, sliders, buttons and fields should be easier to click. larger clickable area around each tool options.
The clickable area of many UI elements are smaller than they appear making the process tedious an needlessly taxing.
In my pic my cursor is clearly inside the opacity field but I cannot yet activate it. As it is currently design, I need to be unnecessarily precise. Makes no sense.
The entire UI could stay the same size but clickable areas should become larger.
Text based buttons like opacity should be treaded like buttons with a large clickable area (opacity in a box with ample padding). There would only be improvements to the UX, no downsides.
If anyone has suggestions on how to better articulate or title, I'm open. The clickable area of many UI elements are smaller than they appear making the process tedious an needlessly taxing.

Actual Status Bar instead of Spinning Beach Ball
When working with larger images or complex art I can imagine that Illustrator or macOS need caching or need to write temp files somewhere.
I work in the sign business so we work with very large images frequently, for car wraps or large wall art for instance.
Often the infamous Spinning Beach Ball appears when moving or copying fairly large images. This can take several minutes.
It would be nice to have an actual status bar instead of the Spinng Beach Ball so that we can see what Illustrator is actually doing and how long it would take to finish its tasks.
In the enclosed screen recording the cursor is a Spinning Beach Ball — this doesn't show however and I don't know how to record it.
The length of this screen recording (about a minute) is representative of how long this process takes; often it takes longer to waait until it is finished.
There's no clue of what Illustrator actually is doing. I just have to wait until it is ready so I can continue working, until the Spinnng Beach Ball starts again.
As a sidenote, we don't see the spinning macOS beach ball when doing some light work. Mostly, it happens when working with large images — I understand that Illustrator is not a dedicated image editor.

Add metric units in 3D
When generating 3D, even if 2D path could be very precise in dimension, the 3D volume is most often expressed in proportion (from 0 to 100%)
When you try to export for 3D printing it could be more usable to be able to express in metric units...
Like it has been done in Photoshop some times (years) ago ;-)4 votes -
Callout Tool
I'm sure a simple callout tool with some callout styles will help a lot. Sometimes I need to export as a pdf just to use callouts in acrobat. Can you manage it?

Copy and paste formatting to text
Please add a very important abbreviation
It is paste formatting
(And copy the same text)
I suggest its shortcut is ctrl + shift + V
and
ctrl + shift + C copy shortcut
As in MS Word
It's an important shortcut and makes it much easier at work. Please let me know when it's activated4 votes -
Can we have nicer gradient when we use spot color to gradient?
Look like the tone was mixed with desaturated tone at the middle part when we use pantone / spot colour we created.
When we output to print, the desaturated tone is still visible.
Attached the screenshot for your reference. Thank you!4 votes -

Locked Object as Key Object
It would be very helpful to have the option to enable a locked object to be selected as a key object. I would make aligning object workflows to be slightly more efficient.

Rename Unembed to Unembed All when several images are selected
A command in the Links panel’s flyout menu allows us to Unembed an image, when it’s selected.
It’d be great if the name of the command change into 'Unembed All...' when several embedded images are selected. Also mentioned here: https://x.com/DTP_Transit/status/1742338384302149796?s=20

Non-Destructive Path Trim
It would save me incredible amounts of time if I could simply--and non-destructively--trim a path.
Example:
I create a character's arm using a tapered stroke. I then duplicate that tapered stroke so that it can function as a shirt sleeve.
<Here is where the issue comes in...>
There's not a good way to trim that duplicated stroke to function as a sleeve. I can add points and delete the stroke, but the width won't match anymore. I can create a clipping mask, but it's a pain and makes adjusting the characters pose needlessly laborious.Being able to trim the path would make something like this MUCH less painful as there are fewer layers and points you need to mess with.
Second example:
I want the upper arm behind the character and the forearm in front. A trim paths would make this easy. You'd just duplicate the stroke, place one below the body and one above the body. Then you'd trim each to meet at the elbow.I hope that makes sense. If not, I can elaborate. Sometimes it's difficult for me to put words into a coherent sentence. :p

An ability to create custom bevel profiles for 3D and Materials Extrude
We can create our own profiles for now Classic Extrude, by modifying the Bevels.ai — located here:
Mac: /Applications/Adobe Illustrator [version]/Support Files/Resources/[locale]
Win: C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Illustrator [version]\Support Files\Required\Resources[locale]But changing the file does nothing to customize bevels for the modern 3D!
They seem to be hardcoded.
Please, make the same file to be recognized by the modern 3D, or perhaps come up with some better way, that does not require to modify a red-only file and restarting Ai — for both 3D methods.4 votes -

Move Contextual Task Bar
The initial placement of the Contextual Task Bar is the worst UI I've seen from Adobe in a decade or more. It. is. always. in. the. way.

Option to disable centre point on text box
With Area Type, if I use the text tool to highlight a word (for example, if I want to embolden the word), if I catch the centre point of the text box in the wrong way, Illustrator will assume that I want to create a new text box, which I don't. I know I can manually disable the centre point via the Attributes panel, but I need to set the centre point to OFF by default, and to my knowledge there is no way of doing this.

Multilingual Spell check needed for multilingual package design.
I am a package designer. Our company fully committed away from English only packaging to "3L," using English, French and Spanish. Sometimes, we do 8L for emerging markets. When we review our packaging, and before film release, we use Spell Check in our routine. However, it is cumbersome to find English misspellings, when Spell Check spends so much time identifying French and Spanish as misspelled English words. Plus, it would be nice to catch a misspelled French or Spanish word, just in case our translation service team made a mistake. We'd not know because we are not native speakers. With all the AI language models out there, and Adobe use of AI, is there not a smart way to make Spell Check more robust and help us less likely to make a spelling mistake? Currently, it kind of defeats the point of what Spell Check is intended to be. It is not currently helpful in that regard.

Change the scale of the document's rulers
As you've just done for the dimensioning of objects, I'd like to be able to change the scale at which I draw my document by right-clicking in the ruler. I work in technical illustration and draw images of very large machines (20 to 150 m). I have to use CorelDraw (which has always had this function) and copy them into Illustrator to rework them.

Image Trace like Vectorizer.AI does
Adobe, love all the new A.I. features but what I would really love in Illustration would be what Vectorizer.AI does. Forget live trace, give one click vectorizing, please! Like what Vectorizer.AI does but in Illustrator.

Progress bar for the new Smooth tool
I love the new smooth tool! When it comes to contour lines in a map, It perform so much better than the simplify tool. The only problem is that when I smooth lines in large documents, Illustrator freezes but the cpu is on fire so I'm not sure if it's working or if Illustrator needs to be force quitted.
Therefore I propose a progress bar for that tool which appears after one has moved the Smoothing slider.
