Shortcut to toggle visibility of Contextual Task Bar
It would be useful for this tool to allow the user to hide/show this Contextual Task Bar using a single keyboard shortcut.

Allow to make sharp transitions using Width Tool
Width Tool allows us to set width markers on a path, to make its stroke’s outline blend between set cross-sections. We have some limited controls over these markers, we can make each side have its own width, we can snap them to points, but that’s it.
What we also need is way to make this transitions sharp, rather than smooth.
Look at the image attached. The path on the top is a stroke with a variable stroke profile.
The path on the bottom is a demonstration of what we want (an art brush actually).Sure, we can fake this behavior duplicating an existing marker close the the original (fighting the Ai’s urge to merge them). But if we expand these, this fake sharp transition generates a ton of points we don’t need, and it’s not actually a sharp point at all.
At the meantime, Ai has the Curvature tool, that allows to quickly toggle sharp/smooth for points with a double-click or Ot/Alt-click. Double click for Width tool opens Width Point Edit dialog, but Opt/Alt does nothing — make it toggle the transition type.
At the moment we have to build strokes like this with art brushes, which can’t be edited interactively on canvas, it’s a trial and error process. Adding sharp transitions to the Width Tool will make it much easier.

Share for Review Notifications: comments and updates
It would be amazing if a "notification" could be added to the "Share for Review" feature. I am having to update the link and also send an update email to my clients and collabs. Thank you!!

Can't undo Auto bullets
If I undo the bullets (which came automatic after space bar) the letter disappear.
For example: I can't use (-) at front of text with 1 spacebar.

Buttons in Pathfinder panel should be disabled when nothing is selected
If you have nothing selected, Pathfinder still have all buttons active, despite clicking one will give out an error message.
What’s a point? Why shout? Why not display a shallow message (like the one we get when a live shape gets expanded)?
Why not disable the buttons in the first place when a selection is empty?11 votes -
Sort menus alphabetically when Cmd+Opt+Shift / Ctrl+Alt+Shift, like in InDesign
Illustrator has a lot of things put in menus.
The sorting order in some (like View or Object) can be unobvious for new users (and surely some older ones as well).InDesign allows to sort menus temporarily by holding Cmd+Opt+Shift / Ctrl+Alt+Shift while clicking one — make Ai do the same!
An interesting thing is — helpx.adobe.com does not know about it at all. Another sacred technique :/ Terry White figured it out somewhere, but where did he get it from? ...accidentally?

Gradient tool on desktop similar to the iPad version!
Please make the Interactive Gradient Tool work as in the iPad version, where both end nodes behave similarly.
On the desktop version, when one end is dragged, it moves the whole gradient around.
On the iPad, both ends can be moved independently.
It makes the tool counter intuitive!11 votes -
Hitting Escape while creating a shape, an artboard, while using Rotate, Scale, etc., doesn't cancel the process
When we marquee a selection and hit Escape — it gets canceled.
When we hit Escape while dragging out a guide — it gets canceled.
Dragging out a brush on the canvas — works.
Dragging out a swatch to drop it on a gradient or the canvas — works.
Dragging the appearance form the Appearance panel — works.
...and many other casesEscape does NOT work for these cases:
1. Creating a shape, an artboard, an area text
2. Rotating, scaling, shearing, free transforming...
3. Setting up the width with the Width tool
4. Setting up the gradient with the Gradient tool
5. Building a shape with the Shape Builder tool
6. Using the Eyedropper
...and many other casesHitting Escape while moving an artboard commits it!
Can we get Escape to cancel anything we make/control/edit by dragging?

Disable smart guides to some specific object/layer
Hi there,
After using Illustrator for quite some time, I found there has one function I need the most.
Which is to disable smart guides to some specific object/layer.Smart guides are amazing but I found that they won't work well if I had a crazy vector texture background.
When I try to align to the main object I am working on, it will just try to align to background vector textures. Which is not ideal. So I have been thinking, could there have a feature, that disables smart guides to some specific object/layer, like we can lock anything that we want?
Might be we could add a "disable smart alignment" option here?
Thanks

11 votesThe latest Beta now has a dedicated option for this in Preferences > Smart Guides section, in Limit Snapping area. We can now choose if we want Snap within Entire Canvas (as it behaves normally) or the Active Artboard.
This is a WIP feature, and the team desperately needs your feedback on it. Please test it and comment if it works as expected (or not).

Absolute mode that always sets a fill a single click and stroke with the Alt+click/right click
Setting a color for fill and stroke depends on what is 'active' in the toolbox. This is a relative mode mode and it's unique for Adobe apps (and their imitators/imitators).
What about giving a direct way of setting fill/stroke, without remembering which is in focus now? somewhat like Corel Draw does?
Give us an option to be able to set a fill with a single click, and a stroke with the Alt+click (and additionally bringing it to focus), or right click.11 votes -

Save a Copy from Adobe Cloud Document.
I've noticed that when you use the new Save to Cloud Documents feature (which is very nice and convenient) the option to Save a Copy is disabled.
I'm working on a manual to be viewed as a PDF on mobile devices, so I have to constantly save a PDF copy of my .aic document in order to send it to myself via WhatsApp (which is the target) and review it.
Not having the Save a Copy option is quite inconvenient. Could you guys enable it?
Thanks a lot!

Export BMP on various artboards
When will it be possible to export more than one image of the same artwork on different artboards in the .bmp?

Generate .ico file from Illustrator (AND Photoshop)
I just used https://icoconvert.com/ to convert a 32x32 PNG to ICO.
This is something that, in 2020, Illustrator -- AND Photoshop! -- ought to be able to do natively. I mean, if a WEBSITE can do it....

Evenly space color stops within a gradient
Being able to distribute color stops inside the gradient panel.
E.g.: I want 32 stops on a single gradient bar.
Being able to evenly distribute them instead of picking a value on click and drag it (as it is really tedious or imprecise).11 votes -
Add an option to Outline pathfinder command to keep original strokes
Outline command is great when you need to cut your path on every intersection. But sadly, it also sets all strokes to None. Most of the times this is not I want. Every time when I see this function explained to somebody else, I see them adding "...but sadly it will make all your strokes vanish".
Please make an option to keep strokes.11 votes -
Highlight/Select values within box on panels on single click
I am unsure if this is OS specific or not, but it would be a welcome quality-of-life change. I use an Apple laptop and a Windows desktop.
Within Photoshop on Mac, if you click within the 'Character Size' box inside the Properties panel the entirety of the characters are highlighted to then be replaced. Unknown to me, this behavior is actually not consistent throughout every other Adobe program on Mac OS (as it should be).
It seems that on Windows, the behavior is set to only highlight on a double-click as well. This isn't the end of the world but there are times where it will not register a proper double-click and will not select but a portion or just move the cursor. Even more irritating is when I am not precise enough and accidentally highlight 'pt' and not the number values.
It is such a silly little thing, but it is an immense timesaver when you are not having to deal with this little quirk and varying behavior between programs/operating systems. Some may say "you shouldn't be handling text within Photoshop," sure...and others may point out I can just transform it using the handles...some people can be just a bit OCD at times with their values.
Yes, it could definitely be something I get accustomed to...yet if there is/was a solution please implement or inform me. Hopefully, this doesn't become a thing where they decide to change the behavior of the outlier to be "consistent" with everything else...

Switching between documents with shortcut CTRL + TAB on Macs
Switching between documents with shortcut CTRL + TAB like it is used in PS. When you, as I do, constantly work in both at the same time, it would be nice to have this functionality in both PS and AI.

Gradient Swatch includes angle and position, please!
Currently a Gradient swatch only includes color and transparency. PLEASE build Illustrator so Gradient Swatches include angle and position!
It's a pain to have to adjust the gradient angle, after a Gradient Swatch attribute has been applied to an object. If the angle were editable and save-able (in the swatch) it would be wonderful!
