    ...why only for Mac? :)
Windows sucks at showing thumbnails... and I bet it’s now Windows fault.

Please tell more. What are trying to do exactly? To move an artwork with a pattern applied to the iPad’s app? or the swatch itself? through a cloud doc or a library? What happens when you try?

Please tell more (as if the IllustratorSmartExport never existed for the team to look upon).
Share some screenshots and examples of the wildcards you’d like to have.
Speaking about cropping — I assume that artboards behind assets are smaller than objects themselves? and Ai gives no way to 'hug' the objects, but from chosen sides (like right and bottom only)? or do I get it wrong?

NOT fixed in Beta 29.9.0.6. The focused Search filed, however, is no more.

Doesn’t happen from me at Windows 10/11... If my global units (in Preferences) are set to pixels, the units stay in pixels when I change the Keyboard Increment value... Can you please tell what OS are you using?
Can you reproduce it anew? A clear chain of steps (preferably in a video, to follow it exactly) would help to investigate it.

Yeah, creating an artboard sized rectangle is a very common operation indeed.
There is script that does that, named after a removed Release Artboard command in CS4, when multiple artboards were introduced.
Rename the attached file to .jsx instead of .txt and make an action that runs it.

AdminEgor Chistyakov (Admin, Adobe Illustrator) commented  ·

Ryan, I had a script that does exactly this. If you remember, before CS4 we had only one artboard, and there was a command 'Release Artboard' that converted an artboard into a rectangle. So this is why the script is called like that :) (rename it to .jsx from .txt)

And sure, it should be a default function, both Scale to artboard and Create an Artboard Sized Rectangle.

    2. First of all, if this about creating artboard-sized rectangles only, I advise you to take a look at this free script by Sergey Osokin, DrawRectanglesByArtboards — https://github.com/creold/illustrator-scripts/blob/master/md/Draw.md#drawrectanglesbyartboards
Then, if it’s about crating backgrounds for artboards, please check the latest Beta build, because this is WIP and is ready for testing: Artboard background color needs to be user-assignable — http://illustrator.uservoice.com/forums/333657/suggestions/31386253
Finally, if this is about resizing any art to the active artboard, there is a script you can try, again by Sergey, FitSelectionToArtboards — https://github.com/creold/illustrator-scripts/blob/master/md/Item.md#fitselectiontoartboards
If you have feedback on scripts, please share them here, Sergey monitors the space.
If it’s something else you try to achieve altogether — please share some examples, record a video.

    5. Good! Restarting and resetting Preferences is often a solution to problems like this (I can’t san it’s an intended one)

    6. It behaves better for me in Beta... although I agree Ai should give more feedback. I think this needs to be a separate request. Please try to test Beta as well as disabling Smart Guides and let me know if there is a difference.

    8. Allow to resize my current tool with like in Photoshop, with Alt and right-dragging (Windows) / Ctrl + Opt (Mac) — http://illustrator.uservoice.com/forums/333657/suggestions/32143741
For now you can use bracket keys — [ and ]

One request per entry, please, Tommaso! :/
Some of these are already requested / reported, some others are decent enough to have their own entry... Piling these like this makes it harder for the team to track the interest of users and for the users to find and upvote.
Sadly, UserVoice allows to split an idea only into 2 entries.

    1. Eyedropper for text like in InDesign — do you mean this?
Loaded eyedropper just like in InDesign — https://illustrator.uservoice.com/forums/333657/suggestions/32194615
    or maybe this?
Switch to Eyedropper while editing text — http://illustrator.uservoice.com/forums/333657/suggestions/44084862

    2. If there are many clip masks on the artboard — how would Ai tell which one should it use to automatically resize to? Don’t reply 'this should work with only 1 clip group' :)

    3. Fitting option like in InDesign — http://illustrator.uservoice.com/forums/333657/suggestions/40607677

    4. Find and Replace Graphics — http://illustrator.uservoice.com/forums/333657/suggestions/34659661

    5. Trim View hotkey — http://illustrator.uservoice.com/forums/333657/suggestions/36785251
If you can’t assign it manually using Keyboard Shortcuts — please make a separate a bug report and tell more — what do you try and what happens.

    6. Concatenate text frames?
Not sure what you mean exactly. Please provide at least some screenshots, with before and after.

    7. As far as I know, this is handled by OS and the target apps themselves.
It’s WahtsApp who prefers to choose the graphics part of the clipboard multi-content, just because it can.
You’d have to 'Paste as text' inside of the WhatsApp page / app.
Another method would be to go to Preferences > Clipboard handling and disable Include SVG Code on Copy — but then you’ll loose the ability to paste graphics into apps who can handle SVG data better than WhatsApp, like Figma. It’s your choice, Ai can’t guess it.

    8. Increasing values with right mouse / pen button...
Do you mean something like scrubbing?
    http://illustrator.uservoice.com/forums/333657/suggestions/31977841
Why right though? Is this something that other apps use? Please tell more.

And please don’t use ALL CAPS, it’s rude (fixed)

Richard, I can open the file just fine and make changes with the text within, in both GA 29.7.1 and Beta builds...
Have you tested this particular file you shared? Perhaps moving the object into another file has fixed the problem?
Just in case — please share the full file with the team, using sharewithai@adobe.com (please put the report’s link in the email, for backtracking it here, http://illustrator.uservoice.com/forums/601447/suggestions/50308635)

Marc, there was a recent problem with selecting images, when this are scaled down beyond some threshold — but hardly in involved transparency, only the effective resolution... Can you test and confirm that a duplicate image, but flattened, with no alpha, behaves the same, please?

Lottie, you’d have to share this file with the team, so they can investigate this.
Please try to isolate the part of the document that matters (will it behave like this with other layers above removed?) and share the link to the .aic document or a local .ai doc here in comments (UserVoice being stubborn with .ai attachments lately, so it might not work) or send one directly to sharewithai@adobe.com.
    Thank you!

Janne, objects in Ai are layers (and there are debates on the terminology), but I presume now you mean 'top layers': Layer 1, 2...?
And you want to unlock a top layer by picking a dedicated command from a right-click menu when you are clicking on a child object within this layer, correct?
Please show a screenshot of you Layers panel, and give some annotations if I got this wrong again.

Another workaround that works for me — is to Save Aa instead, rewriting the existing file.

Francisco, please try to disable Optimize Save for Performance and / or its parent option, Save in Background, in Preferences > File Handling — and see how it goes.
Please drop a comment after some time passes. The team is aware of the problem, but they need more data.

Beta build now offers a way to have these two work together. This is still WIP and the team really needs your feedback on how it works.

Please try it — Beta builds are available for your Creative Cloud Desktop app and can be installed together with general builds (the only problem would be default file association — OS can’t tell Beta form GA apart).

Jorge, as mentioned by both Kurt and Ton in comments, this is how Ai always behaved since the introduction of Smart Guides: enabling "Snap to Grid" disables Smart Guides, including its Object Highlighting.
There is a request to allow this to work together:
Smart Guides and Snap To Grid mutually exclusive - please support both — http://illustrator.uservoice.com/forums/333657/suggestions/32421028
And the Beta build actually tries this today! Please try it (you can install it from your CCD) and share your feedback — the team really needs more to make it work the best way.
