An error occurred while saving the comment Stefan, can this solution help your team?
http://westonthayer.com/writing/2016/07/27/layout-experiments-in-adobe-illustrator/
This is not exactly what you want, but it’s free and it’s there.
Some report it doesn’t get launch on Macs... I suppose you can address the developer if the tool suits you.
Please comment back.An error occurred while saving the comment This feels like a job for a layout or web front-end app. Next step would be 'now gimme the code of it' and we get Frontpage :)
However, you ask for a thing like this and give no examples.

An error occurred while saving the comment I am curious what these things are, Steve?
I understand your frustration very vividly, but no doubt the team can’t tell which things are you talking about. Can you describe in details what is going on with Illustrator on your side? When does it change, what exactly, what do you do to restore it back? -

Hi,
Thanks for the information provided to the Illustrator team.
We are able to reproduce this issue at our end and the engineering team is currently isolating this issue further to get to the root cause.
With Best Regards,

An error occurred while saving the comment Matthew, yes, I am seeing and am able to reproduce this small dot of 'i' problem.
However, I have a workaround and an explanation of some sort, but they contradict each other in this particular case. Quite peculiar!A live text in Illustrator (and basically in any other software) is hinted. The generated outlines shifted a bit to fall precisely in the grid of the medium (paper or screen) to avoid blurriness. The more you zoom out, the more the difference between the background text and the clipped yellow blob looks prominent. That's because the clip mask uses the pure unhinted outline to render the content.
If you outline both, they will match exactly, and the black hair padding you see is only because of the stacking, it won't be printed or exported. To keep the text live, but to get the correct match still, you can apply Effect > Path > Outline Object to both of your texts. This will force Ai to ignore hinting and display pure outlines. The contradiction I mentioned is that usually it is required only for the bottom text and not the clipping group... but in this case they match only when applied to both! Perhaps it’s because this is not a mere font, but a variable one, and is basically sewn dynamically from the pieces.
Sure this has to be studies further. Thanks for bringing this up.
An error occurred while saving the comment Works fine for me with Hepta and using it as a clip mask.
Matthew, does it work for you now as well?
Please report back if it is fixed (or not).An error occurred while saving the comment The effects vanishes if you apply Outline Object effect to a text before clipping.

An error occurred while saving the comment When I set cap height of a text object to be exactly 10 mm, and then use it a clipping objects to clip an art, the height of the font gets smaller, although Ai still thinks it’s exact.
Please see the file and GIF attached.

An error occurred while saving the comment Sorry, do you mean Effect > Convert to Shape effects, Rectangle and Ellipse?
Sounds interesting.
More parametric shapes here will help to create more interesting graphic styles for sure.
If it allows to add a custom Symbol... should it be used it as it is? or United first? what will happen if a user deletes a symbol? -

An error occurred while saving the comment We need 5 different tools for basic operations for several reasons.
1. Legacy. If it works — do not change it. You can call it 'consistency' too, but with previous versions. You say it matters to you!
2. Simplicity. Having one tool that have only one dialog that is easy to navigate and enter values, using a keyboard, is much faster than tabbing through a dozen of fields (or even locate if you are using mouse/pen), which Transform Effect dialog has.
3. Learning and diversity aspects. Some users prefer using tools to learn the basic transformations, and some users prefer using separate operations instead of using bounding box’s markers. You are not forced to use these tools at all, you can remove them from the toolbox if you want (you don’t use Flare tool probably? some do)I understand you frustration though.
Changes are important. But you should always remember this situation — https://xkcd.com/1172/ :)
I like the idea of having a Transform-Each-like dialog that applies a range of transformation to a selection (rather than all items in selection, like Transform Each does). And I vote for idea of having sticky pivot controls. These are all valid points. An error occurred while saving the comment Hitting Enter should give a dialog or an options in the current paradigm. Free Transform has none, and it could have a merged version that allows to set a relative position of the pivot and allow to tweak transformation values... scale, rotate... also shear, distort, perspective! So instead of simplifying we get a more complex dialog instead. I'd still prefer one, but also keep separate tools: Scale, Rotate, Shear. Having simple dialogs is better than having only one complex, because the speed and muscle memory matter.

An error occurred while saving the comment Nidhal, while you can’t change the position of the pivot, using a Selection tool, with the Bounding Box controls, you can reposition one using Free Transform tool (E key by default)...
Still it's quite rudimentary! It does not snap to anything (with Smart Guides or Grid, whatever), it can’t be fixed (obviously).
So I vote for making it better.
An error occurred while saving the comment Ken, I have a solution for your problem with setting reference point with keyboard. It uses Autohotkey and works on Windows.

An error occurred while saving the comment Sorry for the late answer.
There are two possible solutions.1. Select the whole group ('Just Riding Around'), open Pathfinder panel and hit Outline button. This will eliminate duplicates (in this and similar cases), but also will remove the stroke. You can easily return it back hitting the '<' key (comma), which applies the last used color.
2. Another solution would be to use Remove Duplicates script by Wolfgang Reszel: http://illustrator.hilfdirselbst.ch/dokuwiki/en/skripte/javascript/wr-removeduplicates
However, it'd require to completely ungroup and uncompound your artwork before running. 58 duplicates! More than those 4 you circled!OK, three.
3. In your case, just select the group and hit Unite.
For operations like these using Pathfinder is way better than Shape Builder. Why the Shape Builder makes these empty paths in the first place, and does not have an option to kill them on creation automatically... -

An error occurred while saving the comment This is a great video, it explains it perfectly. Indeed, it worked before, in CS at least. Can’t remember the time it changed though. But I agree it must be fixed. Thank you for raising it up.
An error occurred while saving the comment This definitely requires a video. Please record one.
...because I have version 19 along with 12, and all of them seem to behave is the same way.
I just can’t reproduce the problem! But I really want to. -

The latest Beta build 29.6.27 now allows us to use Transform Again command (Cmd/Ctrl + D) for artboards. Please update, test it and write back about your experience with this.

An error occurred while saving the comment Perhaps you can use a free Batch Renamer script: https://github.com/creold/illustrator-scripts/blob/master/md/Artboard.md#batchrenamer
Sure the thing you are asking for should be available from the box though

An error occurred while saving the comment On the other hand, Proof Setup offers very little.
Protanopia and Deuteranopia are just basic variations, and some are still unavailable to us.Take a look at Figma:
Protanomaly, Deuteranomaly, Tritanomaly (when 2 there are 2 good cones, but 1 is not); Tritanopia (for no-blue dichromats); Achromatomaly and Achromatopsia (1 good cone only). This repository covers is better than Adobe: https://github.com/skratchdot/color-blind
Also, what about an ability to apply proof colors to the design, to 'bake' them? When proposing a design to client, decision to use this or that color scheme are also made with color anomalies in mind, and these CUD-designs should be presented somehow. Acrobat Reader can’t soft-proof, and decision makers often don’t have access to Acrobat Pro, and some do not even know how to set it up.

An error occurred while saving the comment Constantine, View > Proof Setup has what you want, except for the tritanopia and monochromatic (which is not as simple, actually, because there are several ways of sucking the color out). Voted for these.

An error occurred while saving the comment Addie, but the workspace is listed, right? You just can’t switch to it?
What about other workspaces?
What a weird bug. I suppose you already tried reinstalling the app or reset preferences?
