Dear users,
Can you please let us know what is that you cannot do with the existing 'save selection' functionality that you expect to do by grouping objects from different layers?
'Save selection' enables you to combine objects from different layers without having to bring them into one single layer.
To use 'save selection' just select your desired objects and save the selection from the select > save selection menu command or from the bottom of the layers panel.

There should be a shortcut key or right-click menu that can lock all objects except the selected one (regardless of whether they are on the same layer).

In fact, you have made the problem more complicated. Isolation mode should not be considered together with grouping, and we should break free from the current thinking constraint of AI that "only grouping can isolate".
Grouping can affect the order relationship of layers, and isolation mode should not affect the order relationship of layers.

In Figure 1, the newly added object should be between "Polygon" and "Group" because it does not belong to any group.
Figure 2 is even simpler, just follow the normal order of objects.
3. No matter how complex the structure is, as long as the isolated objects are not in the same group, the new objects can be added in the normal order.

Indeed, there are quite a few issues. In complex paths, with a lot of text or large files, moving objects, copying objects (whether holding down ALT or CTR+C), and opening font lists can be slow and laggy.

While Ai now allows to get this disabled in Preferences > General, with the "Show 'Print Bleed' generative AI button on Bleed", I personally don’t think it’s a full solution (and won’t close the request).
I think Ai should allow to disable this right there, from this icon, and should not force us to hunt the option in the closet.
I also suggest upvoting this request —
An ability to disable Text to Vector Graphic feature and any other generative options
