Move selected objects while "object selection only by paths" is on
When "object selection only by paths" is on in my preferences, I should be able to move a selected object while clicking on it's fill. At the moment, if I select an object, and then click left mouse button down and drag on it's fill to move, the program think I'm trying to do a drag selection, and that make no sense.

Folders in Symbols, Graphic Styles, Character/Paragraph Styles panels
Option to create and manage groups of multiple elements inside Symbol panel, Graphic Styles and Paragraph Styles panels, just like we already have in Swatches panel.

Copy and paste at pre selected place in group shape hierarchy
When did this change… I am 100% sure in the past when trying to paste a shape within the layered structure of a grouped set of objects.
Prior to pasting you could (A) Direct select, or maybe even double-click isolate a place in that layered grouping of shapes to specify where you want your newly pasted shape to go.
Before I could copy, hit (A), click an object with Direct Selection tool, and then when I hit Ctrl-F... or V… the pasted object/shape would sit on top of previously selected shape in that layered hierarchy.
Now, there’s no recognition... or…1 vote -

Making all functions recordable
Corel has had this feature for ever. Need to increase productivity by recording actions and applying quick keys to it. But we need to record extensions, and scripts that we run.

An ability to lock the order of layers, but not their content
On fixing the hierarchy of layers.
In data with a large number of layers, such as a map, the vertical relationship and stacking order of objects is very important. We are very careful not to make mistakes, but there are times when our hands slip and we end up moving them.
At the moment we can lock objects, but we can always manipulate the vertical relationship of objects.
If there is a lot of demand for the ability to lock the vertical relationship other than mine, I would like to see improvements.1 vote -
Allow us to customize/choose features/controls/order in Control panel
A Feature that can be used by any Tool or Panel which is most common (like Fill & Stroke), that should not be active in the both (Control Bar & Properties Panel )sides at a time.
When Text Object is selected by Arrows.
If you have selected Text by using Arrows/Selection Tools, you should have good options in the Right Click's menu, like Spell Checking which is logical according to selection.
It would be also better if these features will be added in Control Bar by replacing redundant Features Like Fill & Stroke which can be used by Panels and…22 votes -
Break apart blocks of text into separate text objects: by lines, words, characters, outlines
As done in Flash, I need to be able to paste in a block of text and "break apart" the single text object to several separate text objects. Ideally each time I click break apart, the action will break the text down further: by lines, then words, then characters, then to outlines. This action should be assigned a shortcut to quickly cut up text that has been pasted in from outside Illustrator.
I spend a lot of time pasting in label text for infographics and diagrams, and then cutting and pasting repeatedly to separate the labels out for positioning.

Distribute non-uniform objects equally
Would love to have a function that would arrange/distribute different non-uniform objects evenly within a prescribed area. This would be similar to how the current horizontal and vertical "distribute spacing" works but across a two dimensional area rather than just one dimension. The spacing should based on the edge of each object, not from the bounding box.
This function would be valuable for:
-creating unique patterns
-quickly arranging objects for a layout involving many individual objects
-maximizing space for printing/die cutting individual custom pieces such as stickersUser defined parameters could include:

A way to remove objects located outside of one or more artboards
While working in a file with many artboards and while exporting each artboard to a separate EPS, AI carries over all graphics from the original file even if the graphics from each EPS file is resumed to it's artboard.

Flip artboard dimensions/orientation
Many versions ago, there used to be a little arrow next to the artboard dimensions that would switch the width and height values. Meaning, if I had 8.5x11, I could hit the button to change the dimensions to 11x8.5. Where did it go?

allow text outline color to be placed "under" the fill color in Appearance palette
few years (and illustrator versions) ago it was possible to put text outline color "under" fill, so outline would not interference with typeface, and text stays readable.
Altough you can see "stroke" bar and "fill" bar, but they are unmovable.2 votes -
Mesh Smoothing tool
It would be great if the mesh tool had a smoothing option. Kind of like Maya has the control shift option to smooth out kinks in quads. Especially for photo-real projects. It would be so helpful and time-consuming.

同一アピアランス＋類似形状のものを一括選択をで選択状態になった場合、レイヤー分などのデータ編集のしやすさが向上すると考えます。
特に、添付のような総柄のデータを編集する際に、
個々のオブジェクトの整理がより簡便にできると考えております。現状、類似形状のオブジェクトを編集することはできるが、編集したのちにレイヤー分したり、コピーして貼り付けすることはできない仕様だと思いますので、ご検討のほど、よろしくお願いいたします。

Allow "Welcome to Illustrator" presets to be customized to actual user presets
When the landing or launch page for Illustrator CC2021 opens, there is a box of presets under the line "Welcome to Illustrator.
This system will not allow a drop or upload of either an AI nor JPG screenshot...the default presets are Postcard, Letter, Common, iPhone X, HDTV 1080p and "More Presets."
In my case, I never use any one of those presets, so I have to click "Create New" or "More Presets," which are the same outcomes, then click my way through the various options to get to "Web Large."
It would be nice if (a) the user could enhance…

One tab-over between Width and Height in New Document window
In New Document window, I am used to typing a numeric dimension for Width, then pressing tab once to enter a dimension for Height. In the current version, if you press tab after entering Width, it goes to the unit of measurement first instead of to the Height. It feels unintuitive.

Filter fonts by language
Please add a filter that allows to see only a selected language in the font list.
Thank you5 votesIllustrator’s font explorer (called from Character, Control, Properties panels) now allows to filter fonts by Languages & Writing System.
However, it won’t allow to pick English / Latin / Western European Roman, to hide all languages that don’t support Latin. Here’s a separate request about this — please upvote if it troubles you.

Add a keyboard shortcut for Relink
One of the features I use very heavily is the Relink button in the Link palette. It has major advantages over the Place function:
1) it automatically replaces selected linked images (Place requires you to check the Replace checkbox, which becomes unchecked once you do any other Place that isn't a replace)
But most importantly,
2) It allows you to relink multiple linked images (replacing them in order from topmost to bottommost).Since there is literally no other way to replace multiple linked images in a single action (Place grays out the Replace checkbox if you have more than one…
