1. Merge some features of Color window into Swatches window

   I've always wished the "Color" window and "Swatches" were sort of merged... I wont' bother explaining why its useful to keep the Swatches window open, as i have to assume everybody is constantly using this. I toggle over to the Color window when i'm viewing the color name and swapping the color/fill. In the latest update of Illustrator, they've updated Swatches to include a stroke and fill selector (as well as a list of recent colors, which is pretty cool). they've not however included the swapping arrow, display name of color, or that little default fill selection. can we please just add this little section to the top of swatches and i can pretty much be done with the Color window! I've attached a doctored example of what it might look like.

3. Issue with Hidden Layers Exporting in PNG Format

   Hello. I am experiencing an issue with Illustrator when exporting my files to PNG format using artboards. Specifically, the exported PNG includes layers that are hidden and not displayed on the screen at the time of export. This issue does not occur when I export all the artwork or only selected artworks.

   Here are the details:

   Software Version: 29.3.1
   Operating System: Windows 11 24H2
   Steps to Reproduce:
   Open the Illustrator file.
   Hide certain layers.
   Export the file to PNG format using artboard and have transparent background.
   Check the exported PNG file.
   Despite hiding the layers before exporting, they still appear in the final PNG. This issue is affecting my workflow and the accuracy of my exported files.

   Could you please investigate this issue and provide a solution or workaround? Your assistance would be greatly appreciated.

4. True vector blur / feather, similar to one Rive has

   Quite recently Rive introduced Vector Feathering: https://rive.app/blog/introducing-vector-feathering

   Illustrator uses raster-based Feather and Gaussian Blur, and — let’s admit it — we need them better: resolution-independent, infinitely scalable.
   Instead we got just 'faster blur'...

5. Center Pattern Command

   Draw a vector shape and fill with a pattern, notice this is not centered. To do this is a long meticulous process prone to error.

6. Default Sort

   Allow users to define what they want to see on the home page, and allow defaults to that definition to be saved. For example, in Version 29, when I open the program, it defaults to "Your Files" and they are sorted by "Name". Whenever I open the program, that's what shows. It's perfect for me. In Version 30, now that doesn't work. It opens to "Recent Files" and then I have to click "your Files" or "View All Files" for that to show. Then I have to click on the sort (because some genius changed the default to in the update) and then click on sort and sort it by name. My workflow is by name of file, and not by time or date modified. It used to work in every single version like this and now it doesn't. Please fix this.

8. Add a Color Picker button in the Recolor Artwork dialog

   I would request the team to consider it, kindly add a Color Picker button in the Recolor Artwork dialog, as it is essential — every time colors cannot be added into library. A color picker helps when designing with a self made color group.

9. Please allow us to assign F# keys to Tools

   I can assign the Function Keys to Panels, but not Tools in Illustrator, but I can in InDesign. I'm tired of accidentally typing a "v" when I want the Selection Tool in Illustrator. With InDesign, I've assigned the F1 key to the Selection Tool to avoid this, but I can't in Illustrator...why? Please allow!

10. Display fonts in a floating panel

    Requesting a feature where fonts can be displayed as a floating panel.

    And

    1- Show the preview of the fonts on the right side inside "Font Selector" panel.

    2- Ability to write the text inside "Font Selector" panel and display that text as a preview.

    3- Following #2, Ability to drag the "custom text" + "desired font" from "Font Selector" panel to the Illustrator artboard

11. Automatically reset the ruler to zero when clicking on a different artboard

    Sorry, this feature request should just be as standard.

    If I have 5 artboards and I click on artboard 4, I don't know why the ruler doesn't automatically default to zero. Instead I have to double click the corner of the ruler to reset it to that artboard.

    Surely working on separate artboards, require separate ruler zero placements.

    This should be the default, with an option to set the ruler to zero on the first artboard, in case each artboard is making up one big picture, then it makes sense for all artboards to share one ruler zero setting.

    I personally want to click on an artboard and the ruler defaultts to zero on THAT artboard. Then I click on another artboard and that defaults to zero. You could even have rulers for each board.

    Please add this. :-)

    This behavior can be toggled with Use View > Rulers > Change to Artboard Rulers command

12. Add Axis Constraints, to restrict transformations to a chosen axis

    Some 3D editors allow to limit moving to a chosen axis/axes.
    3DS Max has a dedicated floating panel with buttons, and Blender allows to hold a key to force it: https://docs.blender.org/manual/en/latest/scene_layout/object/editing/transform/control/axis_locking.html

    In Ai we can hold Shift, but the axis chosen depends on the position of the cursor, and it’s not the same.
    Please make it possible to use X/Y keys (similar to the recent E key for Enclosed selection Mode) to actually choose a preferred axis. Perhaps Z can be used for 45°? :)

13. Guides menu box

    I use guides on all projects, I open a new artboard, hit cmd+r for the rulers to appear and then draw a square that I want my margins to be, hit align left/top pull a guide line down for horizontal and vertical then align to right/bottom an do the same, this gives me my margins... can we get a popup window that just lets us type in values, like the bleeds but for margins, plus central horizontal and vertical guides tick boxes and columns/row margins etc. Would be great to save these as presets, so I can open a doc, click 10mm and it's all done from what I've saved. Cheers.

15. Our own custom new document templates

    It would be great if we could have our own folder in which to store our customized NEW DOCUMENT TEMPLATES and have it in the row where RECENT, SAVED, MOBILE, WEB, PRINT... are stored.

16. Improve Save a Copy as PDF workflow

    Description:
    When saving a copy as PDF, artboards must be chosen in the first step — before seeing any PDF settings. This is awkward and less flexible.

    Suggestion:
    • Allow artboard selection in the PDF settings step.
    • Add a preview (like in Print or artboards/screens in export) so users can easily see and pick the artboards they want.

    This would make saving PDFs faster, clearer, and more user-friendly.

17. File > Adobe PDF Presets menu, to have even faster PDF export options

    Starting with build 28.6, we can now Export As PDF (thanks to this request: http://illustrator.uservoice.com/forums/333657/suggestions/32841790)

    This works alongside with a pervious lesser known method: Save a Copy, as PDF.

    However, exporting a PDF copy to make a quick 'snapshot' still feels slow — we get a dialog and have to choose a preset we want to use.

    Meanwhile InDesign offers a handy configurable menu that allows to skip format options and go with a chosen preset, like the attached screenshot shows.

    Please make a similar menu.

18. Allow editing of text content in dynamic symbol instances

    When creating dynamic symbols, there can be some changes to individual instances, however, the text content is static. If you need multiple instances of the same symbol, but with different text content, the only way to achieve that is to break the symbol link before editing; future style updates to the symbol will not be inherited. Sometimes the intended behaviour can be achieved through Character or Paragraph Styles, but if the symbol also includes non-text objects, that is no longer an option.

    It would be great if text content for instances of dynamic symbols could be changed dynamically.

    Sample use cases might be illustrations of maps, board games, calendars, instruction manuals; anything that requires a lot of individual short text instances with consistent iconography or styling.

    印刷工程時において、入稿用のデータにアウトラインがかかっていないことで印刷事故や再入稿が頻発しています。これはオペレーターの作業ミスによるものですが、データの保存時に「アウトライン未完了のアラート」があればかなり減らせます。世界中の印刷工程で起こっている問題ですので是非早急に実装してください。

20. Thumbnails in Layers always show full previews even when outline mode for the layer is toggled

    This is relatively new within recent Ai upgrades.

    Can we please revert back to preview mode ONLY for layer thumbnails regardless of how we view the layer on the artboard. This was changed recently. Why? If you choose to make changes like this, please make it an optional preference, as long time users probably don't like these changes.
