Turn "Export for Screens..." into a processing powerhouse for screens and print alike
Why limit exporting to screens? Many graphic design workflows require assets for both screen and print. A user should be able to pick and choose (and save) all kinds of combinations of formats, dimensions, resolutions, and naming conventions for exporting.
PNGs, JPGs, EPSs (Please add), PDFs, TIFFs, GIFs, SVGs, etc.
This could be such a timesaver, and go a long way to help restore faith in Adobe CC.

Hide/Unhide an object or a layer should not require UNDO command
Undo command should not affect toggling object/layer visibility.
At least it would reduce the list of UNDOs... as most time I just toggle visibility to preview outcome.

Export screenshot of artboard to clipboard
A common part of my workflow is to take a screenshot of my work, which saves the screenshot to the clipboard, and then I paste it in an email or chat window for others to comment on. It's faster than exporting the document. However, it still takes a second to click and drag the screenshot area.
I would like a feature (with a keyboard shortcut) to make a low-res PNG of the artboard (about as big as the view on my screen, i.e a screenshot) and save it to the clipboard for easy sharing.

The new Adobe 2020 is very unstable !!!
The new Adobe 2020 is very unstable it can not handle graphics at all. Every time I save it hangs or crashes. Every time I even move an object on my page I get a wheel of death . this upgrade has been most frustrating. to the point where I have added a downgraded 2019 version

Bevel and Emboss effect
This is something i've waited for years and it's a feature that Photoshop had for decades, was introduced in InDesign 2.0. Even FreeHand MX featured it in 2001... but it never came to Illustrator.
When will we count with the Bevel and Emboss effect? Why not all the Effects InDesign has featured too on Illustrator?
It will add a great bang of options to AI...I let a screenshot of it on actual InDesign CC

Overprint simulation on image file exports (JPEG for example)
I think that it would add great value when Illustrator exports to image file the option to add overprint simulation, in the same way as InDesign easily does.
I would add great benefit to our jobs and would simplify some steps (not going to InDesign just to do that).10 votes -
Make the hex code box visible for all color modes on the color panel. Not just RGB modes.
I only ever use HSB to dial in my color and it slows me down to double click on the color to only have to copy the hex code in a different window. The only modes that currently have a box that displays the hex code are RGB or WebsafeRGB. This is missing for all other modes such as HSB, CMYK and Grayscale. Make the hex code box visible for all color modes on the color panel, please.
7 votesThis filed is now visible in Color panel for all the color modes, starting version 27.6.1.
There is no way to disable it though, so if you want to be able to turn it off — upvote the request: http://illustrator.uservoice.com/forums/333657/suggestions/47027617

Lock the document if its oppened on PC (like in InDesign)
To avoid, that two people or more work on the same document at the same time.

Object position should be able to be locked.
When aligning multiple objects to each other, all of them translates. There's no option to make one fixed (position locked) and then align all the other object to that fixed one. E.g. a content to a box object.

Rounded corners on crop tool
When crop tool is selected, add the live corners option to crop rounded corners or circles. Please and thank you.
1 voteThere is an intended way to do it.
Once your image is cropped, you can do Object > Clipping Mask > Make and Ai will create and select a rectangular clipping mask for your image.
Then you have to convert it to a live shape, with Object > Shape > Convert to Shape.
Then you can round its corners in Transform panel, typing in a value in one of the Corner Radius fields (if they are linked) in the Rectangle Properties section.
All of these can be recorded as an action and applied later with a click in Actions panel or a hotkey.
Please test how it works for you and comment back.

Distortions for Decurving warped art
You know what I would like Illustrator to have? A way to plugin our actual grid warp information like a wonderful plugin from a few decades ago, called "CurveIt" that was from PCC Packflow (which was acquired by Artwork Systems, which is now "Esko"). It allowed us to plug in a negative value to de-curve using these fields. This would be very helpful for the packaging world where we have to decurve artwork back into a straightened format for redesigning.

give users the option to copy layers, and NOT have them renamed.
currently, Character Animator REQUIRES multiple layer hierarchies that use the exact same naming convention.
When I duplicate a perfectly good Layer Hierarchy, every damned single layer in it, Gets renamed. This creates Hours of tedious work for me that is incredibly stupid.
I want a set of options in the preferences to dictate exactly how Illustrator behaves when it duplicates a Layer/Layer Hierarchy.
I want to be able to change the string used.
I want to be able to set it to use a numbering system (number, step, padding)
I want to be able to turn it the **** off.…

Paint mode like in Adobe Animate / Flash for Illustrator
- I used to work with Adobe Flash (now Animate) for years and loved how the vector tools work there. I would like to have exactly this "drawing mode" in Illustrator! I know there is already something quite close to it, but it still doesn't have the same features and you have to remove overlapping areas and so on .
- I think having the "quick n dirty" design tools like the flash/animate brush AND the sophisticated tools already available in illustrator in the same product, that would boost productivity!

We need, again, Custom Bevels in 3D-Extrude & Bevel, please!
Illustrator used to have the ability to create customer Bevel profiles ( in the Bevels.ai file in /Library/Application Support/Adobe/Adobe Illustrator 23/en_US/Symbols ). HOWEVER, the feature is now gone! Please give us the option to create custom Bevels, again! Thank you.
Last year, 2018, I created a object and gave it a 3D custom bevel, and now I can do nothing with that object. Whenever I try to do something with it Illustrator crashes. I couldn't figure out what was going on until I tried creating a custom Bevel again. There is no way to create a custom Bevel! When I…

Add data attributes to elements for SVG export
I'm using data attributes quite a bit these days, and have been experimenting with using them in SVG. They work very well, as a way of adding metadata or parameters to elements that can later be read by javascript/ES.
But (of course) no support in illustrator for this feature. Worse, if I add them with another tool, then open the SVG in Illustrator, they get stripped from the document entirely. This is just stupid.Best of all, a data-attributes panel, very similar to the variable panel, but without the redraw bugs. Workflow something like this:
Select an art object.

Let Typekit have a narrow and tall font
Typekit is missing a really basic, classic font:
If you look at posters for movies like THE GOOD, THE BAD AND THE UGLY, you'll notice that the fonts often are 30-35% taller than any font that's available in typekit.
So it would be super nice if Typekit could add something like that. It's really important if you're making movie posters...

Import PDF comments in Illustrator
The option to import PDF comments in InDesign is a great feature.
Adding this feature to Illustrator would be a great solution for people working in the packaging world.22 votes
