Need 'Allow Tool Recording ' feauture in Illustrator's Action Panel
I'm a graphic designer, digital artist, and traditional painter with over 20 years of experience. As a digital artist and painter, I would like to record my workflow within Illustrator with targeted layers, similar to how Rebelle records only top layers. I would greatly appreciate it if you could implement the tool recording and workflow recording options in Illustrator specifically for particular targeted layers or for all the layers in a project. This would be a great option for all digital artists, as it would save us time in recording and showcasing our work in video form. It's a very…

Padding and margin in Illustrator objects
It would be interesting to be able to place a margin or padding on objects such as shapes or text, in addition to a magnet system in which you can select what to stick this margin to, it could be vertex or edges.

Animated Zoom for Mouse wheel
Please add the Animated Zoom function for the mouse wheel, now this can only be done using the "Z" key and the mouse movement. It is very inconvenient to scroll using alt + mouse wheel when the percentage of increase jumps from 66% to 100% in one turn of the mouse wheel. The trackpad on the macbook zooms very well, but it is not convenient to use. Add a switch to the "General" settings next to the scroll wheel " Use Animated Zoom to scroll with the mouse.

Allow new Smooth command (not the tool) to be a live effect also
New Smooth is quite handy to deal with rugged shapes. But it is also introduces the new 'dialog-less' approach, when we are basically given a dialog that auto-commits on dropping a selection. Once it is dropped, the change is applied. We will get accustomed to that.
But imagine I smoothed something, then get distracted, and returned to the smoothed path a while after. To undo and reapply this I’d have to go back in History (at least we finally have it).
What if we can apply this as an effect to an object, rather than a immediate filter? It means…

Allow third-party developers to add dividers and custom sorting into Effect menus
Third-party developers can add custom items in menus.
Some create their own sub-menus, some add them in-between native commands... there are several practices they use and when they all get used together it feels somewhat chaotic. But it feels like this is because plugin devs can’t fully control the commands in menus. It turns out, they can’t control the order and sorting, add dividers in Effects (but seemingly can in every other menu)...
Effect menu is the most weird menu in Ai, it looks different from others. Maybe that’s why?
There is an existing UV post about it:

Type number of sides for polygon tool and star tool
Currently to get a number of points on a star you have to type the [up key] or [down key] But often I know what number of points or sides I want on the polygon or star.
I'd like the ability to type the number of sides/points.
This could be achieved in a number of ways:
- An option panel (could change it after the fact as long as it is selected as long as the points haven't been moved?)
- hold and drag and type the number (say 3, 6, 9, etc)
- double click on the polygon/star icon…2 votes -
Trim View - Isolate to one artboard only
I like the option of "Trim View" to temporarily hide artwork that outside of my artboard. But when I have overlapping artboards and I try to use trim view on one of them Illustrator combines the area of the overlapping artboards and trims everything outside of that "merged" artboard. This defeats the purpose of using trim view for me. I would like trim view to isolate the artboard I'm working on and only that artboard. It would also be nice if the black lines showing the other artboard extents would also disappear when entering trim view for a single artboard.…

Don't reset view rotation when pressing Escape
When you are in a rotated view, pressing Escape resets the rotation to zero degrees. This is frustrating when you're merely trying to exit Object Isolation or exit text editing.
There does not seem to be a Keyboard Shortcut for this operation, which I would expect to see.

It would be possible that within Adobe Illustrator you could configure web links associating them with certain areas of the screen, with cer
I edit assignments, quizzes and exams, with musical scores in Illustrator, and add YouTube link symbols to them. For these links to work I have to open the PDF in Acrobat and insert the web links there. But if I later want to edit some text, object, or image and I open it in Illustrator, I lose all the links configuration.

Add a "move/copy art with artboard" switch to the artboard options, or the main prefs.
Currently the only place the "move/copy art with artboard" switch exists is a button on the Control bar. I have never liked the Control bar and have hidden it since it was first added to Illustrator back in CS3.
In my workflow, I almost never want to move/copy art with artboard, and for some reason this switch constantly turns itself back on, so it's extra annoying to have to either lock all my layers, or dig around this part of the interface I never use.
If I hit return with the Artboard tool selected, I'll bring up the current artboard's…

Please bring back the ability to duplicate and move text with the Option + Arrow keys. It was an incredibly handy feature. I used it all the time and it has been sorely missed.

More Settings button is hidden in the New Document dialog window
Why 'More Settings' button is hidden in the New Document dialog window?
More Settings dialog should be a default window when creating a new document instead of random template presets that nobody are using.

Mark starting points and directions for paths
We know nothing about where a closed path starts and which direction it has.
We can cheat it and apply an arrowhead or a brush to see that, but perhaps you just should mark the first points of paths with something else than a square? Like a triangle?

Multilingual Spell check needed for multilingual package design.
I am a package designer. Our company fully committed away from English only packaging to "3L," using English, French and Spanish. Sometimes, we do 8L for emerging markets. When we review our packaging, and before film release, we use Spell Check in our routine. However, it is cumbersome to find English misspellings, when Spell Check spends so much time identifying French and Spanish as misspelled English words. Plus, it would be nice to catch a misspelled French or Spanish word, just in case our translation service team made a mistake. We'd not know because we are not native speakers. With…
