SDK access to add items to contextual menu
Can the SDK add an option for third-party plugins to add items to the contextual (right-click) menu the way it adds items to other menus? Of course, there needs to be some method to toggle when those items are automatically inserted or removed from the menu depending on the current context.3 votes
Select Compound Shapes by visible parts only
When working with Compound Shapes, I don't' want to 'feel' the original paths which in many cases cover paths beneath.
Make it work like a Clipping Mask.
Maybe af preference to select only visible parts is a solution.7 votes
Accurate placement of guides.
Dragging a Guide from the rulers is not very accurate. Please add a way to see the exact position of the guide (preferably as an overlay near the guide, but in the Ai ecosystem maybe in the Info panel). And please let it snap to exact values when pressing Shift.2 votes
Option to show only the actual missing fonts in missing fonts list
Please provide an option to show only the missing fonts in the top half of the missing fonts dialog box. If only the missing fonts were visible we wouldn't have to constantly scroll up and down the missing fonts list to find the yellow triangle.
Option only, because it is useful to see all the fonts that are used in a file...2 votes
Liquid Page Layout (Artboards)
I would love a "liquid Layout" feature like InDesign has for more easily converting artwork and pages sizes simultaneously.
There are many times I create posters on a 11x17 artboard and need to easily reduce the art and page sizes to 5x7 for flyers.
InDesign has had this feature for a long time and I feel it would definitely be useful to my workflow.7 votes
Select tools via the ' All Tools ' palette
I use a huge display, so I would like to show all tools at once.
But in the mean time, I would like to be able to choose a tool via the 'All Tools' palette.1 vote
Get rid of Tool Tips for known tools
Please add a X to the big distracting Tool Tips. Clicking the X should hide the tip for that specific tool.
This will keep the tips for less used tools, but gets rid of the annoying tips for tools that we are using for decades. It will personalize the help system.2 votes
Move 'Show The Home Screen...' and 'Use Legacy File New...' options to Preferences > User Interface section
These two options are not 'general', they relate to specific UI choices.2 votes
I DON'T WANT Cloud Files.
I am so sick and tired of having to wade through cloud ****, JUST TO OPEN, SAVE, or otherwise work with files.
I don't need, or want, to save every file on Adobe's servers. It may make lots of sense for some, but not me. Stop making us jump through hoops to deal with local storage.2 votes
Keep link when placing DXF/DWG file
Could it be possible to keep the link to the original file when placing a DXF or a DWG in Illustrator?
The goal is to be able to update the view if the external file change...
having the geometry active like it's done for text glyph in order to be able to snap to geometry could be the cherry on the cake.
Many thanks1 vote
Add Find/Replace Color feature from InDesign
I would love to use the Find/Replace feature for color just as it is now used in InDesign. Changing a color that isn't global is tedious when you have many fills, strokes, patterns and gradients using the same swatch. Thank you.2 votes
Better ExtendScript sockets
Please add socket support to ExtendScript's Illustrator engine. Also add support for HTTPS.2 votes
edit link in contextual menu
It would be a lot less clicks if one could right-click an image file and have "edit image" be in the contextual menu. Currently, click the object, go to links palette, click on the little pencil icon... photoshop launches... Kind of labor intensive...2 votes
Share for Review extra functions
I'm really thankful for this review function but there are a couple of things I would like to see in the future. Hopefully, some are already in progress!
Ability to select which artboards to share
Show the size of the artboard (I prepare 6 artboards at a go, clients do not know what size are they looking at)
Have a pretty URL that does not look like... https://assets.adobe.com/id/urn:aaid:sc:AP:46b3c72e-e17c-42b7-2da9-08fc21a30b91
A caption area for each artboard so that I can put down some notes directly on the Illustrator app.
Thank you!1 vote
include additional information in the XMP metadata to indicate image status (linked or embedded)
request to include additional information in XMP metadata that could give an indication of an image's status. Help designate if image is linked or embedded. Currently there is no distinction in the XMP metadata.1 vote
Allow us to export PNGs with Transparent and White Background at same time with Export for Screens
I often need to export PNG versions of the same asset with White Background and with Transparent Background.
The way the Export for Screens work, doesn't allow this. You can set multiple export scales, but they all will use the same PNG settings.
It should be able to select Different settings for all scales. Or at least different Backfgrounds ( white/tranparent)
But individual settings for all scales would be better, as then we could have much more control.4 votes
Save the Export Path to with Export for Screens Presets
Please, SAVE the "Export To:" path with the Export Preset.
I don't want to set my Export Path in Export for Screen every f*ing time I restart Illustrator.
I was hoping that Export Presets would have fixed this annoyance, but it didn't help at all.
It amazes me how impossible it seems for Adobe to get these simple things work like they should.3 votes
It would be great to have more control of the .jpg compression settings in "Export for Screens"
It would be great is more granular control of the .jpg compression settings. Right now we can only export at 100, 80, 50 and 20. We find that 60% compression is often the sweet spot between size and quality. Having a user adjustable slider or more presets would be great. It is another reason why we are still using the legacy export.3 votes
Separate the Icons for stroke and fill.
Why does the adobe illustrator swatch palette overlap the stroke and fill? Why would they not separate this so we dont have to pick so carefully to access the color we want? What is the point of this? Is there some option to change the appearance of the swatch palette? I find this cumbersome and unnecessary.1 vote
