Add the ability to see recently inserted glyphs.
Please add a way to see recently used glyphs in the glyphs panel. Something similar to the bottom row of Microsoft Office's "insert symbol" panel. It would be nice if there was a toggle to switch between those glyphs most recently inserted with the Illustrator app regardless of which .ai file they were inserted into and all of the glyphs that have been inserted into the current .ai file (ideally regardless of who inserted them to enable better collaboration).

recorte de Imagen - mejorar funcionalidad
Crop Image Function

Ignore Groups and Clipping Masks
I lost about a Year of My Life double-clicking on objects within a group, inside of clipping masks. A less repetitive and MUCH faster way would be an option to "Ignore Groups and Clipping Masks" (i.e holding some key while clicking).
The option would temporarily (select-wise) treat grouped and clipped objects as normal objects, allowing direct click on an object through a clipping mask and ignoring groups. An "If you can see it, you can click on it!" approach for instant color and other adjustments.
This alone would speed up the workflow and, combined with wireframe view, it would be lightning fast.
If you do consider this, also consider ignoring groups and clipping masks for "Select Similar Objects". I'm working on one object which is a part of a complex group with clipping masks etc, in 64 STATES!! Imagine having to double-click 384 TIMES just to make a single tweak.

Sell a 'pick your own 2 Adobe software bundle', like Photoshop + Illustrator Plan
I am Photoshop user and I would like to learn Illustrator. But it's a bit pricy, especially when you don't use it as professional. Could you create another plan like Photography Plan but with Illustrator instead of Lightroom?
Or maybe would it be possible to pay for example 1€ and get 10h per month to use one of any program ? I think it will be great chance for people to learn any of Adobe software who don't need it as professional.3 votes -
Add colors from toolbar to swatches in Illustrator
I would like to suggest that you should add a feature of "Add to swatches" from Indesign to Adobe Illustrator also. As you'd know in Indesign when we right click in ToolBar on froreground color or Outline we can simply add the color to swatches easily, but in illustrator we have to drag forcefully and drop it in Swatches panel.
Attached is a screenshot from Indesign and Illustrator Workspaces for your reference.3 votes -
Illustrator should be able to import any unicode character
I was trying to use Runic text in an image but illustrator wouldn't enter anything but boxes with X's in them. I contacted support and they told me it was because no language supports the runic symbols.
This strikes me as absurd, as even applications such as notepad or openoffice can handle it, I could even send the runic text through the chat client I used to communicate with the support (as well as in google translate).
This should really be fixed.

Freeform gradient live update option
While live update is a nice thing to have (we still wait until you make all draggable art live updated), it's still not very fast.
Please make an option to turn off live update for freeform gradients, so a fill would update only when you release fill points.3 votes -
Anchor point lasso tool and manipulation suite.
click to create a selection area on a selected object(s). Scale, translate and rotate selected anchor points.
This would save lots of time when working with pre-existing artwork or if you draw something and notice afterword a certain part in too small, to big or a little out of position. Some of this is already available but require manual selection or the selection in question to be a square.

Allowance to change the keyboard shortcuts for Previous Artboard and Next Artboard
I have all of my keyboard shortcuts set to the left side of the keyboard, since I draw right-handed and keep my left hand on that side of the keys. In my animation workflow, I like to scrub back and forth quickly between artboards, but I do not like the current LOCKED shortcuts for going back and forth through them:
Previous Artboard (Currently locked to Shift-PgUp)
Next Artboard (Currently locked to Shift-PgDn)
First Artboard (Currently locked to Ctrl-Shift-PgUp)
Last Artboard (Currently locked to Ctrl-Shift-PgDn)There is currently no listing for them in the keyboard shortcuts menu, so they cannot be changed.
If I could change them to something like SHIFT-A and SHIFT-Z this would make my workflow so much faster, and it just seems like there should already be changeable shortcuts for these functions under Preferences/KB Shortcuts anyway.

Add scale and mirror to Transform window
In the Transform window (Windows > Transform), I see rotate and shear, but not scale or mirror. I want those for several reasons:
— I want a single place for doing all transform operations, without having to go to the menu
— I don't want to have to remember different key codes for scale, rotate, mirror, etc
— I want to be able to percentage scale from the bottom right corner (for example), using the 9-square selector3 votes -
Update links manually
Illustrator is constantly reading linked files, checking for changes. This is normally not a problem, but when the network is slow for any reason (like if you're working remotely over VPN) AI becomes unusable. Simple text changes become an ordeal as every time you switch tools or click anywhere, you have to wait for a minute or two as the links do... whatever they're doing. A simple panel-level option to turn off automatic link updates would make working remotely (which some say is the way of the future) much less painful.

Change forms of Pan-CJK font in language dropdown menu
Super OTC Pan-CJK font like "Source Han Sans" has multiple forms of character in same unicode. In Indesign, we can change them by choosing language in dropdown menu, but in Illustrator, it works only for hyphenation and we can't choose CJK languages.
Please add function to change forms without installing Subset OTF.

Gray hash marks and numbers against a black background for rulers
Gray hashmarks against a black ruler may be fashionable, but they are hard to see when aligning text and objects, or even measuring objects. How about a white ruler with black hashmarks, and a black curser?

improve the 'this file is currently being saved' pop up window
The way this was implemented is stupid.
That pop up window you get when you try to close the window while it's still saving. Why doesn't it automatically go away when the file has finished saving, instead of being persistent for no reason.
Just make it work the same way as indesign with just a cancel button.

Allow color coded top layers
Please allow us to color code the top layer/s. For those whom have to work with 30 plus layers the tiny color slice indicator (which is just the color of the selected vector line, not the layer) is not enough. If I could color code the layers it would speed up my job significantly and our company. Thank you!

I think Adobe should purchase TypeStyler and incorporate it into Illustrator. It would be a fantastic addition
Adobe should purchase TypeStyler and incorporate it as a portion of Illustrator. It would be a fantastic addition. I use it all the time but the developer doesn't seem to keep it up to speed with Illustrator.
