Saving PDF without modifying embedded images
Universities use LaTex PDF in researches for a good reason. The PDF produced by a LaTex app won't resample or blow-up the embedded images (JPEG). As a researcher, it will save us a lot of time if illustrator PDF setting has the option to not resample or alter the embedded images. A JPEG image (1920 x 1920 pixels) of a size 200 KB will make illustrator PDF file of about 10 MB. Whereas the PDF file produced by a LaTex app will be slightly bigger than 200 KB. I hope Adobe engineers will consider this issue.

3D Materials Inflate: taper volume, change direction of taper
I love the taper feature! It would be helpful to change the direction vertical/horizontal. Also the ability to also taper volume to create squeeze bottles that are round at the base but flat at the top.

Make holding spacebar reposition a selection while resizing it, anytime, not only while it gets create
When using Illustrator on a Mac, I am able to create a shape, resize the shape and then simultaneously press space bar to move the shape around while resizing it.
However on Windows, this feature only works on the initial creation of the shape. Once it has been created spacebar no longer works to allow me to move the shape around whilst resizing.

Keep Size of the texture applied in 3D
Could it be possible to keep the scale of a material when editing a 3D object
I've notticed that the sacle of a substance material (using 2D textures) may change when you edit the object...
Ideally, the best would also to apply this material at the same scale as defined in the Substance material as it is possible to define it.

Pressing V opens "view" tab instead of switching to selection tool.
On Windows, when you use V to switch from pen tool to selection tool, some times it opens up the "View" tab instead.

Separations Preview should show colour values
The Separations Preview panel doesn't show the colour values of each colour channel at the cursor location. This makes checking the total values of overprinted spot colours or taking colour-value readings from inside gradients impossible. As such, it's only half useful. If it works in InDesign, the expectation is that it works in Illustrator.

Quick View (Space Bar on Mac) "elements" in Libraries "Tab Group"
You can hover over Libraries elements and see more written info. But as they say, a picture is worth a thousand words, and a large "quick viewing" would help speed up the identification and selection of elements from Tab Group.

Marking already-placed images after import
Having Illustrator flag placed images (by small icon or turning the text to italics?) under the "File > Place" pop-up window when using LIST mode (by Illustrator finding duplicates comparing in the Links pallete) helping the user keep track when a large number of images need to be placed.
Right now if I have 50 images to place I have to use memory of where I was placing each or compare links pallete to finder window as a list to check at the end.

HDTV and other Film & Video Presets
Please make presets without all the green stuff (see screenshot), and with a black background, since RGB is additive color mixing, which starts on black rather than on white. See how your After Effects fellows deal with video :-)
I personally never need rulers and a center mark, since we exactly know where objects are, and where the center is by using Smart Guides and Transform.
(But I am curious who likes all the green clutter you have to clear when starting a document based on these presets.)

Better integration of User Templates
Saving a User Template is not very convenient, since the Templates folder has not the right privileges initially. Why not create a folder in ~/Documents/Adobe in stead of a rather undescriptive folder named 'Cool Extras' in the Application folder?

Please Support the File Info feature for SVG files
When saving files in SVG format, we can't currently save File Info, such as copyright, file name etc. You can fill it in but it disappears when you open the file again. I was told but Adobe that the File Info only works with .ai files and they suggested I ask about it here.
This is valuable to me because I can record copyright information with each SVG file.

Please allow hiding the "shape properties" from transform panel.
This area wastes half the panel.
I will never use "shapes" - why is this bit of panel always showing?

Automatically restore Type Character panel settings
When entering text, sometimes we modify settings in the Character panel.
For example, to type CO2 (carbon dioxide) correctly, we select the '2' and enable "Subscript" on it.
What is very annoying is that this custom setting ("Subscript" in above example) remains enabled the next time we enter some completely different text elsewhere and we always have to go back and first fix the setting in the Character panel.Feature suggestion:
Changes made to the "Character panel" should automatically reset to "default" once the text block editing is completed (or before starting editing some new text elsewhere).2 votes -
The "Select Same" function including points as a choice
As of now, the Select menu includes "Same" and "Object". With a point not being an object, it would be under the "Same" submenu where it only has the option of selecting shapes and/or texts under certain conditions.
If in need to select multiple points, we could use the Direct Selection tool to select each of the points, but similar to shapes and texts, it would be helpful to have a one-click solution to select the points.
Some conditions to include (similar to "Select >> Same >> Fill Color") could be:
- the points having to be on a certain x-coordinate
- the points having to be on a certain y-coordinate
- the points having to be anchor points
- the points having to be mesh pointsHaving to be on a certain x-coordinate would mean if you have one point selected, it would select all the other unlocked points on the same x-coordinate.
Having to be on a certain y-coordinate would be the same as above but with the y-coordinate of the selected point.
Having to be anchor points would be so you can change the angle/length of every unlocked path's anchor points to the same angle/length, though the appearance of the path will depend a lot on where the points are located and the start-off angle/length of those anchor points.
Having to be mesh points would mean they are part of an unlocked mesh. This would especially be helpful with the already existing "Save Selection" and "Edit Selection" options so we would be able to go back to those mesh points and do things such as change the coordinates of all those selected.
As of now, the Select menu includes "Same" and "Object". With a point not being an object, it would be under the "Same" submenu where it only has the option of selecting shapes and/or texts under certain conditions.

Top toolbar should display true length and width of shapes, not the "properties" of the shape.
It's very confusing when you reference the top toolbar to see the length and width of a shape only to realize the values are completely wrong. This is because the top toolbar displays the "properties" of a shape for whatever reason. The length of an object should always be the longest horizontal measurement, and the height should always be the longest vertical measurement, regardless of rotation. Despite not displaying true length and width, the toolbar uses symbols which clearly indicate length and width: a double ended horizontal arrow first, then a double ended vertical arrow second. Unless a user clicks 'Transform' in the toolbar or opens the Transform panel, there's no way to quickly reference the length and width of a live object. Why has the assumption been made that this information is less valuable than the rectangle "properties"?
I've included two screenshots: one shows the exact scenario mentioned above. The second screenshot shows an even more bizarre instance where I've selected two identical squares that are aligned edge to edge to create a rectangle. Instead of showing the length and width of the entire shape, it simply displays the original dimensions of each individual square. This information does not aid the design or illustration process in any way! It's very confusing when you reference the top toolbar to see the length and width of a shape only to realize the values are completely wrong. Extend the grid interval from 377.7 mm to 1000 mm (or more, who cares if it 100,000,000 with 1000 subdivisions?)
To make it easier to use real world dimensions when drawing large artwork in Ai I have a document that is a few meters wide and a few meters high.
I want the major grid lines at 1000 mm interval (its a 1 to 1 technical drawing) and subdivisions of 10, so minor grid lines at 100 mm intervals.
I can't, Ai has a max grid interval of 377.777777.
Doesn't make sense to limit it in this way. Grid intervals in AutoCAD etc. are whatever you want them to be at all.

Labels on cylinders scaling fails
When Labels on cylinders are scaled beyond a certain size (relative to object size?), their distortion is wrong
See attached file and video. The original size of that label is smaller, I have scaled it on the object and it just gets dirtorted at the far edges as soon as it gets too large.

3D rendering issues with labels
When applying a label to a cylinder, the rendering is not clean. There are artifacts generated in the nothingness. See the artifacts in the attached file. This also doesn't get soled when rotating the object.
