Automatically name artboards based on the file name
Can we have a feature like, when creating a new artboard, the artboard named automatically as per the file name rather than naming it a default - Artboard number.

Can Dimension tool measure angles for open intersecting paths?
I'm finding it frustrating that it appears that the Dimension tool will not give me angles from open shapes, i.e. 2 intersecting lines.
Am I doing something wrong for is this something anyone else is experiencing?2 votes -
A way to make a pattern's location match where it was originally created instead of aligning with the ruler origin
I like to use large patterns to create effects like "rays centered on a focal point of the image" in my artwork. Or to work around the fact that clipping masks can't have complex appearance stacks. These sort of patterns work best when they are precisely aligned to the artwork.
Currently the workflow to do this is as follows:
- Create some art to be a pattern that aligns with some important part of my drawing. Select it and do Object > Pattern > Create.
- Give it a name and close the pattern creation window.
- Make a large rectangle with this pattern, drag it around until it's aligned with the original. I have a script that helps with this in some cases but it doesn't work for every pattern.
- Create a Graphic Style to save this pattern-with-alignment.
- Create more patterns that need to align, do a super fiddly dance of cloning and editing that style to make new patterns that align properly.
I would like it to be this:
- Create some art to be a pattern that aligns with some important part of my drawing. Select it and do Object > Pattern > Create.
- Give it a name. Turn on "pattern aligns with original art". Close the pattern creation window.
- Enjoy my magic swatch that contains a pattern precisely aligned with my art.
- Make some more patterns precisely aligned with my art. Use them as strokes or fills without any hassle.
I would really love it if patterns stored their initial location on the art/pasteboard (which they sort of seem to do, they definitely have a consistent location on the pasteboard when I edit them but sometimes it's way off on an edge for reasons I have never figured out), and if there was a switch on the Pattern window to let me choose between "pattern tiles from ruler origin" and "pattern tiles from art origin".
Attached: an example image that uses a lot of patterns. There's a bunch of fills and strokes in this that use very large patterns containing a large circle with a fat, dashed stroke.

Allow to have zero extension value for the Extension Lines for Dimensions
For some reason there is a minimal value we can set for extensions above the dimension line — 0,01 pt.
I want it to be zero.2 votes -
Gradient across open stroke should 'run around' round caps
I think the gradient across a stroke with a round cap should "run around" the cap at the end of the open stroke (see a screenshot).

Allow to create a new file from a selection on canvas or Layers
Can't create new files from layers or groups, gotta select everything and create a file, instead of just creating an artboard from by the file dimensions copied.

"Show me the offending object" button in the appearance error dialog for [IABD] and [!out] errors
I really would kinda love it if there was a "Show me the offending object" button on the "Error processing appearance" requestor next to the "OK" button.

Request: Add Custom Font Sizes to Text Size Dropdown in Illustrator
It would be great if Adobe Illustrator allowed users to save custom font sizes (such as 150pt, 200pt, etc.) to the default text size dropdown in the Character panel. Currently, while you can manually enter large font sizes, they don't appear in the dropdown for future use. Allowing custom sizes to be added to the dropdown would save time, improve workflow consistency, and make working with large text sizes more efficient. Thank you for considering this feature!

View Transparency Grid only in artboards
Like other users I've encountered here, I find the whole-window Transparency Grid to be a significant distraction. It'd be helpful to be able to at least opt to show the grid only within artboards, and even better to toggle the grid for specific artboards (see screenshot).

Put Apply to Selected button into Dimension Tool Options dialog
At the moment we can edit existing selected dimensions using Control or Properties panel (except for Scale!)
But if one chooses to open Dimension Tool Options dialog, all the settings won’t be applied to a selection, these would alter only dimensions created AFTER.
I’d like to have another button here, to allow me to apply chosen settings to what I have selected already, or perhaps even to All, similar to the Properties-only quick action button (this and others there should also be available via Object > Dimension menu the team 'forgot' to add: http://illustrator.uservoice.com/forums/333657/suggestions/49010378)
And so you know — there ARE tool dialogs that work like this.
Blend Options would change a selection (that’s why it should be a panel: http://illustrator.uservoice.com/forums/333657/suggestions/31988758), Gradient tool too (and it IS only a panel, with no REAL tool options, which is another overkill)...Some consistency and common sense, please.

Allow dimensions to be editable
It would be nice if the dimensions and lines were editable.
I generally build to scale because the dimensions of my projects to size are too big for the artboards and contain several larger elements. Having to enlarge each piece in order to get the proper measurements is time consuming and inconvenient. Being able to edit those would make things much easier. I have a script that can do it, but the tool would be better.2 votesLatest builds of Illustrator allow to edit most of created dimensions using Properties and Control panels.
The tool dialog sets options for new dimensions only and does not have a button to apply the set options to selected or all dimensions on canvas. If you wish to have a button like this in the dialog, please upvote this request.
If you have other weak points to point out — please comment or make a new request / report.

Illustrator Share For Review | "Actual Size" Page View
In share for review, the previews allow the viewer to change the page view to “Fit Window Width” or “Fit Full Page” in the lower-right corner.
We need an “Actual Size” view setting. It would solve issues such as unwanted enlargement of small designs and checking details on large designs.
BONUS: The ability to select a default view in our Share For Review settings would be the icing on the cake!

Allow to assign several colors as transparent for Image Trace
Currently Image Trace allows to pick one color to ignore and replace it with full transparency. Perhaps some users might need to pick more than one color.
UI in other places offers to setup several color chips, seems like a consistent move to allow the same here.2 votes -
Predictive text and optional ai copy adapted to text box design sizes
I would like to have predictive text, while I write it can complete the word like it happens in my phone.
Also once you have my copy done, have a menu to have other copy options, translations and changes of copy adapted to cover more or less space in my design.2 votes -
Add more modifier keys for Control bar to show alternate color UI
Currently the behavior of the Color UI in Properties is broken:
http://illustrator.uservoice.com/forums/601447/suggestions/48691379Clicking the swatch drop down opens the different swatch color options.
Please update with these shortcut key options:
Shift + clicking the swatch drop down opens the Color Mixer options.
Option + clicking the swatch drop down opens the gradient options.
Command + clicking the swatch drop down opens the pattern options.2 votes -
Separate "Ask when opening" settings for color mismatches
We have a large team that's constantly opening previous projects. The print team is separate from the video team.
For the video team, the CMYK profile is sort of irrelevant, but the RGB isn't.
Is there a way to have Illustrator tell about only RGB color mismatches when opening the file, and just preserve CMYK?
Basically, I'd like to have the result of "Ask when opening" different for CMYK and RGB.
That way the team can keep a policy of preserving CMYK without getting a popup every time, but act only RGB profile mismatches.

Puppet Warp should respect existing layer structures.
I love Puppet Warp but I hate having to ungroup my paths and put them back in the layer structure that works for me when I'm done using Puppet Warp.
Please do whatever needs to be done so that I can grab a bunch of paths about multiple layers, Puppet Warp them, and have them stay in the same place they were before I did this. I'm fine if it's a switch in the tool's settings because some people love this behavior.
