Subdivide a segment between two selected points
Hi Illustrator Dev,
how about adding an option to subdivide a segment between two points. The menu button "add anchor points" subdivides all object, adding unnecessary points.
See my screenshot

Add option to scale point type from the baseline, rather than bounding box
It would be really useful to be able to scale text from the baseline - often I have text positioned in a layout and want to resize it, but as it scales from the bounding box it then requires lining up again.
I'd suggest a tool that allows the user to scale from the text baseline. for multiline text there would probably need to be a way of selecting which line to scale from - maybe a first / last line toggle, and an option of placing a cursor and that would be the line to scale from?
I know you can currently use the scale tool and click on the text anchor, but I find that really imprecise when working with small adjustments.
The value would be time saving when iterating layouts, particularly with things where you're rebuilding artwork from reference and need to get type sized correctly and lined up.
Cheers!

Ability to change canvas color
Ability to change background behind art board to any greyscale that works for old tired eyes, independent of the interface setting. I prefer a dark interface with a white art board but a light gray background.

Convert a Grid Repeat object to a pattern filled rectangle
As mentioned by Von Glitschka at https://twitter.com/Vonster/status/1530587235375927296 it would be great to have an automatic conversion of a grid repeat object into an exactly same looking artwork, but made with a rectangle filled with a newly generated pattern swatch a user can continue to work with.
Yes, we can expand it, release the clipping mask, find the module, clean the unnecessary duplicates, create a swatch, fill the former clipping mask with it, match the positioning exactly... all manually, or with a help of a script maybe.... but who does not like easy solutions? We do.

Set all colour palette swatches to Global as default
Could we have all default swatches and custom colour swatches we select set as 'Global' when are working in a document? Or at least be able to select multiple swatches all at once and make Global? Why is the default 'non-Global' when colours are likely to be used regularly across multiple working files?

Debugger
When working on any non-trivial script, debugging is absolutely necessary. Currently, Window.alert() is the only usable method of debugging. $.writeln() also exist, but I don't even know where to look for that.

OBJECT > TRANSFORM > ROTATION to work with 4 decimals
When selecting OBJECT > TRANSFORM > ROTATE...manually entered rotation angles are truncated to 2 decimal places. I experience a loss of pattern repeat with that kind of truncation across large pattern rolls. If we could manually enter 4 decimal places, that would be extremely helpful to my work!

Toggle Off Large Canvas Scaling when Saving as PDF
Any artboards created larger than 227 x 227 inches are changed to a large canvas setting, which adds a scale factor to the canvas. So Illustrator will say a document that is 300 x 300 is actually 30 x 30 and just scaled by 1/10 of the size. This setting causes issues with my printer software where it reads it as a 30 x 30 and not the true size, it is disregarding the scale factor. I have to take these files and chop them up into smaller panels to print them. When I chop them up it is still keeping that scale factor on the canvas when saving them as pdf, even if the canvas size is smaller than 227 x 227. The only work around I found is to take the large canvas and chop everything up in there then copy and paste it into a completely new document at the smaller panel size as a normal canvas setting and not the large canvas setting. I want the ability to toggle off the scaling feature when saving as a PDF so that when I go to print them on my printer it doesn't read the scaling incorrectly and just reads the actual canvas size. I feel like it could be added in the PDF save settings as a checkbox saying something like "Disregard Large Canvas Scaling" or something.
Also I want the ability to easily tell if something has been created in the large canvas setting, currently there isn't an easy way to tell if it has been created. Sometimes designers send me something that is less than 227 x 227 so I think it is a normal canvas and when I go to print I find out it was designed as a large canvas and then sized down so it still has a scaling factor put on the artwork.

Inertia scrolling aka "flick panning"
Scrolling around artboards should adhere to the OS standards of having some momentum to scrolling, or at least the option to enable "flick panning" like Ps
6 votesBeta 29.1.0.93 now has Flick Pan option, enabled by default, located in Preferences > Performance.
At the moment it works only for trackpad and Hand tool, not for middle-mouse pan or Spacebar pan.
Please try it and comment back.

Select similar colors (with a tolerance slider) so you can round up and streamline elements in a messy document
This is basically a tolerance slider added to Select>Same>Fill Color. It would just allow you to cast a wider net to quickly select colors and convert them to a single global color. It's very hard to track down a color that's 1% off from the others in a complex file otherwise. It could also help process multi-color graphics into a limited color palette more efficiently

Select Same / Position on artboard
An option that can be added on the Select Same menu that could be useful for selecting elements that hold the same position on each artboard. Could be useful for page numbers, titles, logos, watermarks etc.

"Align Artboards to nearest pixel" or "Rearrange selected artboards" to avoid extra pixel on export.
Similar to "Rearrange All artboards" except I don't want them rearranged, I just want them to snap to the nearest whole pixel to avoid the extra pixel when exporting raster assets.
OR
"Rearrange selected artboards only"
I frequently set up documents with with dozens of artboards of various sizes organized and positionally grouped in specific ways. Currently I need to manually set x and y pixel coordinates for each artboard because "rearrange all" destroys the iterative structure of my document.

Enable Content Aware Defaults is an All or Nothing option
Checking the Enable Content Aware Defaults option in Preferences controls 3 features: Crop Image, Puppet Warp and Freeform Gradient. It would be nice to be able to turn them on/off individually. Now it is all or nothing.

Please restore the DXF import capabilities as it behaved in previous versions up to V25.0.1
In version 25.0.1 and prior, the DXF import command worked, now it does not. Please restore this functionality. Thanks.

Tab Indent. Just like Indesign. PLEASE FOR THE LOVE OF GOD!
Setting Tab Indents with bullet points, like InDesign.
Being able to tab, set measurement and line up paragraph indents. We need this because there are times when we do packaging/signs that have bullets that need tab indents that are controllable and that line up to the text on the next line.
Shortcut = Command + | (set line indent)
Every designer has wanted this for decades.

Bring back the feature where the text stays on the screen when moving through the a text block
In the not-so-distant pass, when kerning in AI using the arrow keys, the screen would move along with the cursor as you went through the copy so you didn’t have to stop kerning to reposition the cursor, it followed along and even returned to the next sentence in the text. Which is still the case with InDesign, it works beautifully. But now that no longer happens in AI. Now when you are kerning using the arrow keys the screen no longer moves along with the cursor, when you reach the end of the text that is visible on your screen (with kerning you have to be up close and personal with the text) instead of the screen staying with the cursor, the cursor now just goes off the screen and continues to move down the text. That’s problematic since you have to see the words to kern them. So, then you have to stop and move over to the next text that fits on your screen and then continue to kern that text until the cursor moves of the screen again, doing that over and over again is unproductive. Our company creates exhibits for museums and such, so we do a ton of kerning and this new way isn’t working for us. I hope it is an easy fix, like unchecking or checking a box in the preferences and not something that is gone forever.

Could the Width Tool scale Pattern Brush tiles proportionately instead of squeezing them down distortingly?
Greetings!
I'm not sure, if this feature is already there (would be grateful for a response if it already is!). I googled, didn't find anything. It's also too many keywords...
So. The width tool can varyingly alter the width of a stroke to which a pattern brush is applied to. What I have been struggling with, is that, the width tool only squeezes the pattern tiles perpendicular to the spine of the stroke, and thus distorting the proportions and original composition of the pattern tile itself.
Is there a way to perhaps, distort the tiles in a manner that they scale down proportionately, instead of just squeezing down; in accordance to the width tool settings wherever applied? That way working with non-rectangular pattern ideas can be overlapped easily.
Or, alternately, if we had negative spacing option in pattern brushes, that would also be quite useful...

Export for screens: remove suffix "-1" in the name
It adds the suffix "-1" when exporting artboards, even if you have the field for "suffixes" empty.
