  1. Add Ai, EPS and TIF formats in Export for Screens / Assets dialog

    I realize that .pdf is essentially the same as .eps format, but still it would be useful to have the option to export as .eps.

  2. Respect 'Decimal Places' setting in CSS values exported to SVG

    The "Decimal Places" setting in the SVG Options (export) dialog is not respected in style elements.

    Steps to repro:
    New Document
    Create a rectangle with Stroke 3.1459
    Create a new graphic style from the rectangle.
    Save As... Choose SVG
    In SVG Options, set Decimal Places:1 and CSS Properties as Style Elements
    Examine SVG Code
    Look at the 'stroke-width' value in the stylesheet.
    Expected behavior: Stroke width should have 1 decimal only
    Actual behavior: Stroke width is 3.1459.

  3. Opening old Freehand files in Illustrator?

    Can you guys bring this "feature" to Illustrator?

    There are a lot of old Freehand users still having TONS of Freehand files (illustrations, assets, icons, etc.) in their archives waiting for the day when Illustrator will open old Freehand files so we can reuse them once more!

    I know this is a lot to ask, but can you guys give it a try?

  4. Updating to 2019 makes illustrator useless - downloads tons of data upon saving a file

    My workflow requires opening and saving AI files with large linked pictures, stored on off-site server with low bandwidth (around 5-6 MB/s). The linked files can be big, several GB in size. When I try to save my AI, it freezes and starts downloading at full speed of the off-site storage and downloads 2-3GB of data before it saves the AI. None of previous versions had this issue/feature. It is a big deal for our company, because we work approximately 1 hour on each AI and now just saving it takes 5-10min. We need to open the AI (sometimes it…

  5. Export for Screens - Please add EMF as an option

    I have hundreds of EPS icon files I need to convert for use in PowerPoint which means they need to be in EMF, EMZ or WMF format. The Asset Export tool is amazing and would be perfect for this task, but unfortunately EMF is not an export option. Thanks!

  6. Cannot save eps with opaque background

    Cannot save eps with opaque background. Have transparency set to Opaque. Have save as EPS options set to Opque background. Will only save with transparent background.

  8. In the "Export for Web" menu, i feel a .ai option would be cool

    I'd love to be able to export all at once:
    png
    jpg
    psd
    svg
    and ai, without having to use seperate menus, this'd be awesome as it'd save me alot of time

  9. Batching actions can't access files through Windows file shortcuts

    If user has a folder with shortcuts to files in different folders and try to batch this folder, AI can't see files. It would be great if it could.

  10. Illustrator file not movable

    If i make an Illustrator file (cc 2019) , and say place it in the desktop folder, if i move that file to the documents folder, open it and change it, it saves the new version on the dekstop again.

    is this a bug or a feature i dont know of?

    It’s a common behavior for all files and all editors out there, not only Illustrator.

    When you 'open' a file, the editor reads it and 'hold in its mind', making a virtual copy basically. When you save it, it writes it back the disk, to the location where it was read from. Illustrator does not track what the OS does with the file, and OS never tells Illustrator that a user moved the file elsewhere, or deleted.

    An editor can lock the file, so nothing can move or delete or rename it, but this method causes more troubles and frustration. It’s safer to never let the data to get lost.

  11. Export plain absolute or relative SVG-Code - not mixed on as now.

    Ai creates SVG-Code with both types of instructions: absolute (capital letters in the code) and relative (lower case letters in the code) instructions. For working with the SVG-Code, it would be better, Ai creates plain absolute or plain relative Code - perhaps the user can choose it before exporting. For my work with SVG, I programmed a tool to do so (in a second step after exporting of course), but it would be much better (and for all of us), if Ai would do it itself.

  12. <critical bug> can open same file. that means lose data anytime.

    This is critical bug and cause my job lost many times. When I using illustrator with unsaved, I can open same file . That means I can lose the data. I remember there were alert if I open same file or can not open for old version.
    For example, Photoshop can not open same file if I use the data. So photoshop does cover this issue. Please fix this bug asap !! Thank

  13. Allow to set custom default Transparency Flattener Options settings when saving EPS

    There is no way to tweak said default settings.
    Even you create custom document profile from document with tweaked settings, it still come up as default-default when you try to save project, created from this profile.

  14. Wrong exported image size (extra pixel added) if artboard coordinates are non-integer

    AI 21.1.0 macOS.

    In attached AI file there are 1 artboard if you just export it for Screens you will get an image size 105px × 104px, however in AI it's sized as 104x104px.
    Check that X coordinate of artboard is 172.34 px, so it's float. Just change it to 172px and re-publish and image will be 104x104.

    So, coordinates of artboard should affect into output png image.

    This issue is probably happening because the artboard dimensions are not appropriate for raster export (i.e. are in decimals).
    If you make x and y values as the whole numbers in the transform panel (not in decimal), then the extra pixels will not be added to the exported image.

    That is the workaround, and it’s reported that it’s not always the case.

    At the same time — Ai knows the size of artboards to be exported and yet it does not deliver the set sizes, which is not fair. The team is going to rethink the algorithm.

  15. Damaged ai files

    Hi there
    My files keep getting damaged when saving them in illustrator
    it seems to be a recent issue only after the last month. I had advice the other day from adobe support to save the files to my desktop as saving to my work server may be the issue - why then never before. My colleges need to be able to access these files too so it's pointless continuously saving to my desktop. This is soooooo FRUSTRATING and I'm getting really annoyed. We pay a large amount of money for the adobe suite. This should be making my life…

  16. PDF export setting sorted alphabetically

    It would be nice if the Illustrator PDF export preset dropdown would be sorted alphabetically instead of, what looks like, random. Indesign does this perfectly, why not Illustrator?

  17. Set default PDF export preset

    When saving as PDF the preset is always set to Illustrator standard and you have to manually use the drop down menu to choose the standard you need.

    Most designers use always the same standard. I work for example in preprint and have to select X1a. It sucks to have to select this for every dingle file dozens of times a day.

    Other designers struggle there as well and send us constantly PDFs that are not X1a because of this. They forget about the selection.

    To ease up regular work flows it would be very handy to save this setting…

  18. GET RID OF THE REVERT HOTKEY!

    The hot key for Revert is WAY too similar to the hot key for Save As in Photoshop and I lost an entire day fo work saving after finishing a project. The fact that that can happen accidentally, even with the approval button is INFURIATING!

    Hi Everyone,

    We have started working on this request. This was only a Mac-related issue where the shortcut got changed. We are setting it back to F12. We are not removing this shortcut, because a lot if users do use this shortcut. If you want to remove it, or change it to even more obscure key, you can do it as per your liking by editing the shortcut.

  19. metadata

    Please update the ability to add metadata to a file, similar to the way you can with Adobe Lightroom Classic. The current file info feature is difficult to understand and you have to drill way down to get your information into the metadata.

    The ability to create Metadata presets that you can easily apply to files. The metadata preset would include:
    - Basic file information
    - IPTC Content, Copyright, Creator, etc. info
    - Keywords

  20. Which profiles should be used when viewing pdfs?

    Hi, today I had a problem like this:

    I created a pdf from an illustrator file, it was a montage of many labels only in black.

    Then visualizing them with acrobat pro with "fogra 27" was perfect, but my service used "fogra 39" and the black was split into CMYK.

    Then, by ripping the pdf to make the plates, black was displayed only in black.

    Which profiles should be used when viewing pdfs?
