1. Dynamic Stroke Weight for Pencil Tool

   I want to suggest a feature for the Pencil Tool: the ability to automatically apply a Variable Width Profile based on my real-time input.

   Currently, the Pencil Tool only draws lines with a uniform stroke (or with a VSW profile from the selection)

   I propose adding a new option in the Pencil Tool preferences to link stroke weight dynamically to: Pressure Sensitivity (Tablet Users) and Drawing Speed Sensitivity (Mouse/Trackpad Users)

   This single addition would transform the Pencil Tool into a powerful, intuitive instrument for design.

2. Annoying "learn more"

   Your instruction and tutorial always pop up and ask me to "learn more". I know the functions already. It is very annoying and I don't want to use Illustrator anymore if I have any alternative.

   I cannot find how to close the pop-up and it affects my efficiency a lot. Disturb me every 5 min. It is a very very poor UX experience.

4. PDF stroke and fill shape should be imported as a single object, not two separate objects

   PDF stroke and fill shape should be imported as a single object. Currently Illustrator parses such shapes as two objects: fill, stroke. This behaviour can be seen when exporting as PDF in Illustrator (without AI editing capabilities) and importing it again.

   Note: This seems to be caused by incorrect handling of B and B* PDF operators (fill + stroke in one object).

5. In Share for Review - Bleed view control

   Share for review seems to be very glitchy lately, however it would be great to be able to toggle the bleed to be visible or not when sending drafts to clients.

   Right now it's defaulting to show including the bleed but doesn't denote that to the viewer so you can imagine how messy that gets. Use case: when creating banners, signage, wayfinding, etc - one typically would use Illustrator as it handles large format print better. So you can see how the share previewing with the bleed can get a bit confusing for non-designers who don't understand that edge will be trimmed.

6. Proportional Push & Rotate Tool

   I’m relatively new to Illustrator, not sure if such a feature already exists, but I’d like to suggest a tool that allows selected objects to be proportionally pushed away from the group’s center point or a custom pivot point — without scaling them — and optionally rotate them around that same point. For rotation, it would be great to have options whether the objects keep their own rotation (independent) or rotate as children following the group’s rotation. Additionally, it would be helpful to allow setting horizontal and vertical movement ratios (e.g., move 1 unit horizontally while moving 0.35 units vertically) for the push-away action.

7. Dynamic Bezier Stroke Corner Join

   Illustrator offers 3 types of stroke corner joins: Miter, Round, Bevel (same 3 as Offset Path filter/effect do).

   Miter one just extends the edges of a stroke with straight lines and then cuts the pointy portion off according to Miter Limit value. This works in a majority of cases when we need a sharp corner, but when curvy segments meet at an angle... the straight join becomes obvious.

   Meanwhile, Ai has Join Tool.
   Here, at the left side of the image a result of expanding a stroke, with a straight mitered join is rather obvious.
   So I select the point where the straight segments meet, delete it, and then use the Joint Tool to... well, to join them, following the natural Bezier extensions of the segments.

   This gives me a better looking smoother join, with no obvious 'ah, that's a thick stroke expanded'. I can use this method when I have a handful of these... but it’s not convenient to treat hundreds of these, expanding your artwork.

   Another solution would be to use inside/outside stroke alignment...
   But:
   1. it still doesn’t work for open paths — http://illustrator.uservoice.com/forums/333657/suggestions/33963553 (100 votes!)
   2. it won’t be helpful anyway if sharp connections happen from both sides of a line, both at inside and outside one

   So — please introduce the fourth type of a stroke corner join. Make it fall back to just simple Miter if the curvature of the lines doesn’t allow for them to meet properly (or cheat by changing the curvature just a bit).

   Illustrator offers 3 types of stroke corner joins: Miter, Round, Bevel (same 3 as Offset Path filter/effect do).

9. Make Enclosed Selection Mode a permanent option

   Illustrator now allows to use Enclosed Mode to select objects within the marquee (originally requested here: http://illustrator.uservoice.com/forums/333657/suggestions/31863601), but the only way to do it is tap E key.

   I agree that this basic feature is essential, but I don't agree that any modifier keys or specific dragging directions (like requested here: http://illustrator.uservoice.com/forums/333657/suggestions/49489604) should be required. Shift-drag is already used to add to the selection, so that won't work.

   Opt/Alt toggles duplication, and both can be toggled mid-drag (unlike in Photoshop).

   This should be a selectable selection mode (also with a hotkey), and in fact there should be a way to set it as the default option.

   Illustrator today allows to set this mode as a default behavior with the Select Objects only within Marquee option, in Preferences > Selection & Anchor Display.

10. Line distortion when vector tracing — joins between strokes distort instead of connecting smoothly

    When using Image Trace or Auto Trace in Illustrator, the traced vector lines often distort at junctions where two strokes should meet cleanly. Instead of forming a natural join, the curves warp or bulge slightly, creating uneven intersections that break the flow of the line.

    It looks like Illustrator is over-smoothing or misinterpreting the corner geometry at those points. A more accurate “preserve joins” or “maintain line continuity” option would help produce cleaner, more natural outlines — especially for minimal line art or hand-drawn illustrations.

11. Background Grid Not Displayed Behind Fully Opaque Objects in Illustrator 30.0

    I am experiencing an issue in Illustrator 30.0 where the background grid does not appear behind any objects that have 100% opacity, regardless of fill or effects. This happens even when Overprint Preview is enabled. This kind of phenomenon did not occur while using 28.x and 29.x series.

    • Illustrator version: 30.0
    • OS: macOS Sequoia (15.3.2)
    • Issue: Any object with 100% opacity completely hides the background grid.
    • Troubleshooting steps attempted:
      1. Switching GPU performance ON/OFF
      2. Using CPU preview
      3. Resetting Illustrator preferences
      4. Switching to Outline view and back

12. Add "Go to Object" in layers panel, not just "Select Object"

    Would love "Go to Object" option when selecting an object to find it in the layers panel. Currently, it only has the option to "Find Object" from the menu. I then have to scroll through sometimes hundreds of items within that layer to find the little dot.

    Layers panel has a dedicated button at the bottom, with the magnifying glass — it’s the same Locate Object command. But if you want Ai to automatically select it for you, please upvote this request.

13. Enable continuous work while generating vector graphics

    Currently, when generating a vector graphic within Adobe Illustrator, the entire application becomes unresponsive for approximately 30 seconds (or longer, depending on complexity). This forces users to wait idly without being able to continue their work, significantly disrupting workflow, concentration, and productivity.

    I request that Adobe implement a background processing feature that would allow users to continue drawing, editing, or performing other tasks within Illustrator while vector graphics are being generated in the background.

14. Make the Edit in Photoshop button work for multiple links at once

    Suggest adding the ability to make the edit in Photoshop button in the links panel to be able to work for all the selected links at once. Right now, it only works for one link at a time; otherwise, if multiple are selected, the button is greyed out. This will increase productivity as you will not have to select each link one by one.

15. Add arrow buttons to change the font size or remove type units in Contextual task bar

    Please remove the "pt" from the textbox (if there are no other size descriptors), and/or:

16. Zig Zag effect Ridges per Path option

    Illustrator allows us to set ridges per segment when applying a live Zig Zag effect.
    Cool, we can use it creatively... sometimes... in very rare occasions...

    But most of times we need the frequency to be uniform for the whole path, like Roughen does.
    We can’t use a brush to do it really, and we can’t make Ai to re-divide a path into segments of equal length (a cool request on its own, but it won’t solve the problem anyway... but I ahve to mention the PathScribe plugin allows this).

    There is this cool Random Zig Zag script that that does this and more as a filter (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FHEAk6s9NcE — definitely worth buying), but it’d be great to just have it from the box as an option for the effect.

18. Background option for thumbnail view when saving vectors, especially white vectors

    When a user goes through the save options on the pop-up window, it would be nice to add a feature that lets one select a background color for the thumbnail image. My reason for this is so my white vector files do not disappear on a white background. That would be great for me as a designer. The real trick would be if this thumbnail could also be viewed by anyone on their computer. White logos and icons I develop are passed off to clients or internal team members. Seeing that thumbnail can eliminate doubt and questions about the image actually being saved.
    If this feature exists, please let me know.

19. Paste in Front / Back should be disabled while actively editing text

    Ctrl+B and Ctrl+F are still available to paste objects while user is actively editing text. This should not be allowed.
    Ctrl+V does some kind of text only paste in the active text edit field (this makes sense) but hitting Ctrl+B or Ctrl+F (by default, paste in back/front) these will ACTUALLY paste artwork whatever it may be in the location copied from, WHILE the user is in the text edit field. This could mean unexpected behavior and user may not realize they pasted something as it may not even have drawn on screen.
    Editing text should be single threaded, and focused on editing text, or you're just going to limit the keyboard shortcut possibilities or confuse users.

20. Estimate file size before PNG and other formats export

    I would love to save an estimate of file size before exporting PNGs, that way I could adjust the resolution to suit my needs. I would be really useful for exporting files for web for example.
