Select All Unused Key Command
Hello,
It would be very useful if custom key commands could be applied to palette commands. Specifically, I would love to create a key command for "Select All Unused" in the swatches palette drop-down menu. It currently requires a click in the palette, scroll down to select the command, clicking the garbage can in the palette then clicking (or enter/return) to confirm that you want to delete unused swatches. Some days I convert hundreds of files swatches from Pantone to CMYK then to RGB. A key command would speed this up dramatically!
Thank you!

Optional EPS with artboard multi-file save
When saving an EPS with artboards, Illustrator produces two files. Please make this optional – I just want to save the one EPS with artboard. However, Illustrator makes a copy and labels it Filename_01.eps. Thank you!

Blending live pie (ellipses) treats them as path and not like live shapes
Make an ellipse and set pie end angle to 5 degrees (press Invert button if neede to get thin pie)
Duplicate and offset it and change en angle to 270 (doesn't really matter).
Blend these. AI won't blend their shape properties, but blend them as paths. What's use of live shapes then, if AI can't handle them with basic tools?12 votes -
Export PSD from Illustrator
Could you please help me to improve your product. I want to export PSD from Illustrator that can keep the shape and I can edit the color of this shape on photoshop. Now when I export PSD, all the shapes are rasterized. Because I usually design the website on illustrator. After that, I export to Photoshop. And I use this photoshop to upload to Invision. So that I need the shape is original.

wacom
Have been unable to transform using my Wacom intuos pro in illustrator for the last few versions. The selection tool constantly defaults to rotate the object unless I zoomed right in. It is incredibly frustrating for workflow.
I have contacted wacom who advised the issue is with Illustrator and not the tablet.1 vote -

Illustrator 2019 23.0.1. sucks. I have been using adobe tools for over 20 years and this is the worst update you have ever released. Not only does it take forever to open any app including InDesign, PS, ILL and acrobat, but then it constantly freezes. I can't get any work done. You keep raising the price of the subscription, but your updates cost me more in time troubleshooting than anything else. The very basic grouping and selecting a group doesn't work in the new illustrator, I am using the most up to date OS on a 2 year old iMac. When I place an image it doesn't show, the app hangs on every little thing I try to do. The tools I select don't do what they're supposed to do. I can't grab a group of points and rotate. Now, I have to download an older version to try to get my project completed. Please be more professional and do proper testing with professional designers before releasing this kind of garbage. I know you can do better than this.

Set application default Type and Paragraph menu options
I have Middle East/English installed b/c occasionally I need to do a ME translation and it is pointless to have to uninstall/reinstall each time. I would like the ability to set the application default for the following so that when you set up a new document, it defaults to the things you wanted. You can currently do this with tools, but not with the actual menus.
Type Menu:
Font
Lanugage
DigitsParagraph Menu:
Alignment
Paragraph Direction
Composer type (e.g. Adobe Single Line composer)
Type directionYou can do this in InDesign but not in Illustrator. Not sure why, but it's time consuming to do this every time you want to start a new Illustrator document.
It's also interesting that Illustrator has different versions for different lanugages and doesn't recognize that there are probably many people who use multiple languages when designing for a global audience.
Thanks!

Tools to edit paths to make straight lines, sharp corners, and smooth curves for faster vector trace clean up
Attached are three tool examples I would like implemented into Illustrator to speed up the process of cleaning up vector paths. A lot of times when you do a vector trace the corners of text or objects will not have a sharp point or areas with straight lines will become jagged or distorted. To clean these areas up requires a lot of single clicks on points and anchor points to get the right result. Implementing these types of tools into illustrator will allow for these changes in as little as three clicks vastly speeding up the process. On top of that being able to see the changes and adjust them before they are applied will also help in making it easier and faster to get the line, corner or curve you want. I hope this is something that can be implemented into Illustrator as it would be beneficial for anyone working with vectors.

Option to move the live measurement display to the other side of the cursor.
I'm right handed. When dragging out shapes, line segments, artboards, etc., the live measurement display is obscured by my hand. It would be great if there were an option to move it to the other side of the cursor so right handed people can see it. Another option would be to have it display somewhere on the control panel. Just somewhere where it could be easily seen.

Removal of Save File Prompt After Changing to Outline View (CMD + Y or CTRL + Y)
For as long as I can remember - when using Illustrator I've been prompted to save a file (prompted by an * asterisk) after simply changing the file preview to Outline View using cmd or ctrl + Y. Why is it that Illustrator still senses this as a file state change? I'd recommend removing the save prompt if I've otherwise not changed anything else about my Illustrator file other then quickly changing the view.

Ability to use separate graphic styles on strokes versus fills
the title basically says it all.
i would like to apply a graphic style to an object's stroke, and apply a separate graphic style, or more likely no style to that object's fill. this way i can alter the stroke of many objects at once, without altering their fill color.
typically i have illustrations with 100s of groups each consisting of 100s of faces with the same stroke style, but different fill colors. in the course of design, i need to tweak the stroke color and weight to get the right look, but it's extremely tedious to have to click into each group and manually change every stroke color and fill. separate styles for stroke and fill would unlock many possibilities and save time for lots of folks, i imagine.

Add a text highlight feature that stays with the text, i.e., like an underline.
We do trial/legal visuals that often have highlighted text. We currently either draw a box that is yellow and transparent or widen a line with a multiply transparency and if text is added or deleted, the highlight has to be manually redone.

Python scripting support
Illustrator supports vbscript and javascript... But not Python. Python support would be awesome - it's a very common language, easy to use, has lots and lots of libraries to simplify workflows etc.

allow scripting access to the matrix property of symbol items
Allow script access to the matrix property for symbol items. The matrix property is available for similar classes of items, such as raster items, but not symbols. It isn't possible for a script to understand how a symbol has been rendered without it.

Make symbols work in brushes
When you save symbol as brush, it stops being symbol.
This makes impossible live update of the brush, when brush changes as soon as you make changes.
This video shows such live update (after Spiro part):

Making symbols stay symbols in brushes seems to be the easiest way of having such a behavior in AI.23 votes -
Network drives support
I can't believe what I read on this Adobe support page (https://helpx.adobe.com/illustrator/kb/illustrator-support-networks-removable-media.html) about using Illustrator files only on your LOCAL drive.
How is it possible Adobe drove it's software into this nightmare?
If we really can't acces and save our files on a local network drive then I am really done with it...11 votesHi,
Apologies for the inconvenience caused. Please provide some information in order to reproduce the issue on our end. Please provide the below information –
The version of Illustrator you are using ?
Hardware details?
Your operating system?
Is this happening even with a small file?
Can you please share the file with which this is happening every time you save on server? This will help us to investigate into the issue.

Drawing custom perspective grids
Most projects don't start in Illustrator or need at least some kind of reference to draw around - for example a product picture or rough sketch. So in most cases Adobe's perspective tool in Ai is absolutely useless. There is simply no way to always find the right perspective in your reference with that tool!
Many professionals draw custom grids with the help of an odd star with very long and thin end points. They draw one, two or three stars depending on how many vanishing points they have. This is a super old and powerful technique of illustrators and anime artists - but there is no such thing in the same called program to help... We need a more usefull perspective tool with the feature to shift your objects on to one side, floor or ceiling like Adobe's tool does. That's genuinely a good feature but the setup of this grid is just a drag! Make it as easy as drawing to lines on your object that are likely to touch each other when extended and BAM right there will be a star with as many endpoints as you like or just even a slice, not a full circle. Most projects don't start in Illustrator or need at least some kind of reference to draw around - for example a product picture or rough sketch.
