  1. Toggle View Assets outside the Artboard

    One of my favorite features in indesign is being able to toggle between a work view and a final preview view that make all grids, tools, and artwork outside the dartboard invisible so that I can see how the final composition looks on the page, and I think that would be a great feature for Illustrator, where areas outside the dartboard can be a jumbled mess of old work and saved previous versions, or artwork that peaks onto the page but hangs off it as well.

  2. Masks should be applied to single objects with a simple right click

    Masks should be applied to single objects with a simple right click. It's so cumbersome (and quite frankly, very outdated principle) to have to create a white object, select two objects, then 'create mask'. No one does this anymore. (look at Sketch)

    We should be able to simply right click on an object and set it as a mask. Then anything that is above that mask or in that mask's group layer, should be masked out.

    Which brings me to another point, layers in illustrator are so bad. Why for the love, has the layer structure not been updated since…

  3. Live effects

    I hate drawing comparisons between applications because I believe it's utterly unfair in most cases. This is not one of those cases. I believe wholeheartedly that we've reached a stage of computing where we can get rid of the "Preview" button in the effects panels. Let's do it. I've not seen a solid step forward in how effects are created, previewed, edited, and handled since I began using Adobe apps in CS4. Affinity is doing this. And it's buttery smooth. And I'm both jealous and confused that Adobe doesn't have this. It's the sort of thing that you remain blissfully…

  4. Magic Wand Tolerance should remember previous settings

    Why does the Magic Wand tolerance settings reset whenever I open a new document? It makes much more sense to have the option to either set a default tolerance for the Magic Wand so it will always stay the same, or have illustrator remember the last settings used every time it is changed.

  5. Units Menu added to the Artboard Menu

    Why can't the Units menu be added to the Artboard menu? This would be such a time saver not to have to go into 2 different menu's just to change a document's Artboard from points to inches! Can you add this to the next update please!?

  7. Remember printer settings with Print Presets

    I have two sets of print settings-- ones that are program specific (Ex: created in Illustrator from the Print Presets window), and ones that are printer specific (Created in the Printer/Setup window within the Print dialog in Illustrator, InDesign, etc).

    In InDesign, if I create a print preset and then, via the Printer window, select an in-printer preset, InDesign remembers this choice and from then on printing with that InDesign preset will ALSO use that in-printer preset. In illustrator, that's not the case: Illustrator retains no memory of in-printer presets when creating in-program profiles, so I have to manually select…

  8. (Also for Indesign). Alignment groups

    Please add feature to add an item to a group, but not have it factor into movement when Aligning.
    Ie I have an item/group of items, and a Trademark symbol. Suggested new feature would Add the Trademark symbol to the group, but when aligning this new group the Trademark feature is not factored into positioning.

  10. Workspace remembers settings in floating windows

    Having the ability to set parameters in floating windows would speed things up enormously. Setting a workspace for Arabic text, another for Western text – and being able to freely switch between them. Setting a workspace for a particular client, with their typefaces and brand colours already set in the palettes. Instead, every job requires a minute or so setting up the workspace before work can commence. CRM:02211000001504

  11. export files from draw/ipad to illustrator/imac of a different account to allow collaboration

    I used to be able to copy drawings using the clipboard from my account to an iMac with a different account, but I am no longer able to do that and there is no other pathway to transfer the files.

  12. Allow the option to disable FILE MENU...OPEN RECENT FILES. When WAN file server mounted on Macintosh desktop it will slow down Illustrator

    When a file server is mounted on the Macintosh desktop, it will slow down Illustrator considerably. Especially one on a wide area network.

  13. Full Window Crosshairs (always on option)

    I would like to see an option for full window crosshairs/X&Y guides always intersecting at the cursor point. It is difficult to explain but I have attached a mock up image. This would act similar to the guides when dragging and aligning objects.

  14. Please remove the pop-up tip from the Color Themes panel

    It's difficult to try out colors in this panel, because a pop-up tip appears right underneath your pointer every time. I'd love to see the "Click to set active color" pop-up removed, as it makes the colors difficult to select and it really isn't even that informative.

  15. Keeping same values as original files (ai)

    Working on repetitive files with slight copy change is nice to store in the libraries. I enjoy the quick and easy access to the files. But they do not retain the same value as originally dragged into the libraries. The measurements are converted to pixels. The bleed and art board values are consolidated. It would be nice to store all values from AI into the libraries.

  16. Allow custom color profiles to be saved to the CC libraries

    Creating CutContour swatch and Color Process colors (because Pantone+ colors are not available) lose their values once saved to CC libraries.

  17. Please enable the same live workflow that exists between Character Editor and Photoshop to Illustrator.

    The live workflow between Character Editor and Photoshop is magical. I can make a small tweak without having to relaunch each program. However, if the original drawing originated in Illustrator, you have to manually convert it to a Photoshop file, then replace the file anytime you make a revision, and close and re-open the Photoshop file, and be very careful to say "Don't Save". While it's nice that I don't have to do those steps in Character Editor, I would much prefer to have all three work together. Especially because Photoshop isn't doing anything in this workflow.   18. Ability to export all text at once, for translation

    Please make a way to export the text for translation and then import again. Like InDesign's IDML files. You have so many users that would like to translate their content for foreign language markets and no good way to do it with InDesign.

  19. Make the Initial Welcome screen have a link to Templates in addition to, being able to see a thumbnail as with .ai files

    I create custom templates for many of my production designs using them from everything to robots to screen printing production.

  20. Allow Artboards to snap to the grid

    I'm working on a heavily modular layout and the modules are snapping to the grid nicely. However when duplicating the artboard, the artboard will not snap to the grid.

    This therefore throws the modules slightly off the grid as the Artboard position has to be matched by eye.

    I've also downloaded and tried the CC 2019 pre-release and it still does not allow snapping of artboards to the grid.

    Please fix this, thanks.

    I am happy to share that we have fixed this bug in our latest release – 24.3.0 which is available worldwide now.

    Going forward, our goal is to fix as many top User-Voice bugs as possible and as frequently as possible. Given the nature of the fixes, some of the bugs will take a longer time to fix, but we are on it.
