Locked Object as Key Object
It would be very helpful to have the option to enable a locked object to be selected as a key object. I would make aligning object workflows to be slightly more efficient.

Allow to zoom pattern swatches on right click hold, like we can do in Graphics Styles
Patterns can we very detailed, and we can have some pattern variants that don’t differ much from each other. Even when we choose to have Large Thumbnail View in Swatches, it doesn’t really help much to distinguish these.
It’d be useful if we could do the same thing as Graphic Styles panel does — to click and hold a right mouse button to view a giant thumbnail of the clicked pattern.
The only difference would be that styles are displayed applied to the selected objects, while there is no such need for patterns — a simple square thumbnail will do.

Graphic Styles direct hotkeys
Some of us use graphics styles A LOT. And a way to quickly apply them now requires aiming and clicking. In modern now, a precise targeted click is the most inconvenient, attention-expensive, and rather ineffective gesture.
Pro users use hotkeys.
Since InDesign’s Quick Apply is not a thing yet (that’s another story), we’d like to be able to assign direct hotkeys to chosen styles.There are several ways to approach this: by name, or by position in the list... but not as an action wrapper — we have so little of F-keys.

Rename Unembed to Unembed All when several images are selected
A command in the Links panel’s flyout menu allows us to Unembed an image, when it’s selected.
It’d be great if the name of the command change into 'Unembed All...' when several embedded images are selected.Also mentioned here: https://x.com/DTP_Transit/status/1742338384302149796?s=20

Non-Destructive Path Trim
It would save me incredible amounts of time if I could simply--and non-destructively--trim a path.
Example:
I create a character's arm using a tapered stroke. I then duplicate that tapered stroke so that it can function as a shirt sleeve.
<Here is where the issue comes in...>
There's not a good way to trim that duplicated stroke to function as a sleeve. I can add points and delete the stroke, but the width won't match anymore. I can create a clipping mask, but it's a pain and makes adjusting the characters pose needlessly laborious.Being able to trim the path…

Move Contextual Task Bar
The initial placement of the Contextual Task Bar is the worst UI I've seen from Adobe in a decade or more. It. is. always. in. the. way.

Don't reset view rotation when pressing Escape
When you are in a rotated view, pressing Escape resets the rotation to zero degrees. This is frustrating when you're merely trying to exit Object Isolation or exit text editing.
There does not seem to be a Keyboard Shortcut for this operation, which I would expect to see.

Multilingual Spell check needed for multilingual package design.
I am a package designer. Our company fully committed away from English only packaging to "3L," using English, French and Spanish. Sometimes, we do 8L for emerging markets. When we review our packaging, and before film release, we use Spell Check in our routine. However, it is cumbersome to find English misspellings, when Spell Check spends so much time identifying French and Spanish as misspelled English words. Plus, it would be nice to catch a misspelled French or Spanish word, just in case our translation service team made a mistake. We'd not know because we are not native speakers. With…

Change the scale of the document's rulers
As you've just done for the dimensioning of objects, I'd like to be able to change the scale at which I draw my document by right-clicking in the ruler. I work in technical illustration and draw images of very large machines (20 to 150 m). I have to use CorelDraw (which has always had this function) and copy them into Illustrator to rework them.

Set "Registration" (and/or other library color) to Dimension tool
I would like the ability to set the size color in "Registration" on the lines and text. Unfortunately currently (version 28.1) it is possible to freely set the colors but it is not possible to set the Registration color or other colors present in the document samples. This would be very useful for me when printing color separations for different uses.

Progress bar for the new Smooth tool
I love the new smooth tool! When it comes to contour lines in a map, It perform so much better than the simplify tool. The only problem is that when I smooth lines in large documents, Illustrator freezes but the cpu is on fire so I'm not sure if it's working or if Illustrator needs to be force quitted.
Therefore I propose a progress bar for that tool which appears after one has moved the Smoothing slider.

I would like to see the output of the subject created by the generated AI with each part layered by part.
I would like the subject created by the generated AI to be output with parts divided into layers by part (right eye) (left eye) (outline) (eyebrows), etc.

Share for Review Proof Approval
Adding functionality for "Proof Approval" would be huge! And would allow the process to remain within Adobe as opposed to having to go outside Adobe products. Turning on this functionality when needed, allowing for proof to be sent that can be officially approved within AI that:
a. Doesn't allow the user the ability to download the PDF and steal the artwork.
b. Sends confirmation that the Proof was Approved or Not Approved with feedback. This can help streamline the approval process ensuring everyone is aware when a proof is sent, and status changes (Pending, Approved, Not Approved, etc.).

Batch convert to AI format
I would appreciate a way to batch convert multiple vector files (eps, svg, etc.) to .ai format.
I get a lot of eps files, and I would like to convert them to Illustrator files all at once without having to open them individually and saving them one at a time. I thought this used to be possible in Bridge, but I can't find anyone else who remembers this.

Disable Layer Search in Layers Window

Please allow for disabling the layer search function. The Layers window search field randomly activates, especially when opening new files from a template and when opening exitisting files to make revisions. This is incredibly frustrating. For example; when I open a file and try to select the type tool by hitting the T key, I just end up typing a line of T's in the layer search bar. 3D & Materials: separate colour/material for extrusion
Please introduce the ability to apply separate colour and material to the extruded part of a 3D shape. There are multiple examples where such a feature would immensely help recreating real world objects. For example: laser cut plywood (burned edges, parallel to the surface), slice of bread, etc. Basically, any cut object which interior is different to its surface.

Scale strokes and effects, hotkey while dragging.
When using the scale tool, and clicking and dragging, there should be a hotkey that toggles 'scale strokes and effects'. It would be helpful to show this hotkey option as a tooltip that appears near the mouse cursor while dragging.
All too often I will have to undo, then go into the transform panel or the preferences to check or uncheck the box, then go back and scale the object again.
