Automatic spell check (similar to InDesign)
While not everyone creates text heavy content in AI, it would be a MAJOR help if I could either have a 3rd party way to spell check as I go or to have an internal method of doing this.

Please make the units setting bound to the files, or at least change with workspaces!
Adding to this idea:
https://illustrator.uservoice.com/forums/333657-illustrator-feature-requests/suggestions/32403850-make-units-and-grid-settings-to-be-bound-to-file#commentsI work with both printed and digital formats, on top of that much of my work is multilingual, involving English, Japanese, Portuguese and other languages (at least we don't deal with LTR type... for the time!).
As such, I'm constantly changing units from mm to pixels and points, type from points to mm to Q, it's a mess! And I do that several times a day.
I guess the easier path would be to bind the units settings to the workspaces, as binding to the files would require changing the .ai format. But what do…

Find and replace graphics
One of the greatest features of Freehand, and something I miss greatly in Illustrator, is the "Graphic Find And Replace" tool. I use the text find and replace a lot and bringing the same tool set to the graphics side would help with production greatly.
Some of this functionality can be found with "select same as ..." but is more limited and requires extra steps. Or working with symbols but that's less flexible.

Tools to edit paths to make straight lines, sharp corners, and smooth curves for faster vector trace clean up
Attached are three tool examples I would like implemented into Illustrator to speed up the process of cleaning up vector paths. A lot of times when you do a vector trace the corners of text or objects will not have a sharp point or areas with straight lines will become jagged or distorted. To clean these areas up requires a lot of single clicks on points and anchor points to get the right result. Implementing these types of tools into illustrator will allow for these changes in as little as three clicks vastly speeding up the process. On top of…

Export for screens missing modern features in order to be useful for responsive images on the web in 2022
It's 2022 and responsive images on the web are well supported across all browsers.
Export for Screens is close to being a good tool for this, but missing out on a few smaller but critical needs for modern responsive web (by priority):
1. Customize ppi in combination with width / height / scale Formats exports
2. Support for moderne formats: webp, avif and near future jpegXLAnd not really a export only feature, but:
3. Be able to override antialiasing export settings per layer so text and artwork can be applied different antialiasing during exportNote: Typical answer to several…

Better grid settings
Inkscape 1.1 has great grid management.
It's embedded with the document: because grid needs vary a lot from a document from another
It's accessible on the lateral panel, while on AI you need to enter the general settings; all while snapping is in the view menu (go figure...)
There a two types of grid.
You can set several grids.
On this lateral panel, and for each grid, you can easily define there enable , visible and snapping status. (no menu spelunking)
You can set the grid origin with coordinates or by alignment to the page (on AI if you…7 votes -
Ability to UNDO not only actual changes to objects but also selections
Basically what title says.
Now if you select multiple objects and mess up your selection (accidentally deselect everything, select something that you do not want etc.) you have to select everything all over again (or carefully pick out unwanted objects). And there is no option to undo that.
In applications such as 3ds Max, for example, you can do that — undo history counts in every act of selecting and deselecting, even for individual vertices.7 votes -
AI: trace in style of...
the new text to vector tool is amazing, especially the match to artboard/ stylepicker functionality.
Now I would like to import a photo to the artboard of an existing Illustration and trace it in the same style/simplification of this already existing vector file.

Thumbnail preview required when selecting an object from multiple objects overlapping each other in illustrator
I am having a trouble when selecting an object from multiple objects. I think, there should have some thumbnail and object preview option when we right the objects and try to select any object. I attached the image see the red arrow mentioned text.

Adaptive Shapes
Adaptive shapes would be shapes that can change size according to the amount of text inside of them.
It makes having a highlighted text effect a lot easier. A rectangle with text inside it can stretch as you add more words.
Maybe a bit harder but it’d be cool if it can be applied to more complex shapes like a speech bubble shape, while retaining the ability to customize the notch and corner radius.
Doing any of this precisely and manually is not easy

Vector Networks Like Figma Has
In illustrator vector shapes can only go in one continuous path. If you wanted to draw a cube, it would take 3 shapes, perfectly aligned and 12 points, 6 of which would overlap.
In a vector network a point can have multiple branches meaning that a cube could be one shape, with only 7 points (see image).
This feature would eliminate the need for complex shape overlays to create simple compositions, like a cube.7 votes -
Make more improvements to Dimensions
Some add'l improvements that would be greatly appreciated:
• Higher precision settings. At least to 1/8" but 1/16" would be great as well.
• More formatting options for foot inch/ e.g. 7" instead of 0'-7"
• Dimension text centered with the dimensions line as option, with a break in the line to accommodate the text.
• Scale options (custom as well) in architectural format in addition to engineering format (e.g. 1/2" = 1'-0" in addition to 1:24)
• Options to show dimension text rotated 90° - separate options for vertical, vs horizontal dimensions.
• For "Line Type", give us…2 votes -
For when you're creating graphics in different Middle Eastern or south asian languages there should be a option to format the whole artboad
When you don't know the language in which you're designing you can miss formatting text boxes. They end up being gross errors in your final output.
Also, it requires too many steps even now.
A button to format the text on an entire artboard would really save a lot of time!1 vote -
Add "Command-\" to justify the second line of bullets and paragraph text to that location similar to how this works in In Design. Please!
Adding a little extra functionality to Illustrator's copy ability would be great. Sometimes for short-form pieces I'm using Illustrator instead of In Design. This would save a ton of time and add efficiency to copy styling.

Right-click or Icon Shortcut for Refine Paragraph Styles
Editing type styles on the text element and then applying the style back to the master style is a familiar workflow to many of us especially coming from InDesign. I advocate Adobe add either a right-click option or icon for easy access to this ability.
Thanks

First character only find and replace
Find and replace should have the ability to only "find/replace" items that are at the beginning of a text string. e.g. if there are 50 building labels on a map that all start with 0, and one wanted to remove all those zeros... There is currently no easy way to do that and "replace all." Or if one wanted to remove "the" from the beginning of every title but not when it's in the middle of a sentence... etc.

Perspective tool should work on ANYTHING.
You should be able to use the Perspective tool on ANYTHING. Many other packages allows you to put a perspective on editable text!! The same goes for Bitmap Images.... You should be able to but a box around ANYTHING and use the perspective tool on it. Why-O-Why do we have to convert text to curves to be able to put perspective on it??? Once it has perspective you Should be able to edit the text and keep the perspective on it!!!!
Illustrator is Still Way Behind Other Similar Packages...
Thanks
