Create option to change order & position in which layers are duplicated or copy/pasted in the layers panel
Layer organization is extremely important to my work. I'm constantly duplicating layers using the select + alt feature, and constantly having to re-order layers because they automatically get placed above the layer I'm working on. I would like the option to make my duplicated layers go immediately below the layer I'm working on.
I would also like the option for copy/pasted layers to go immediately above/below the original layer, or all the way at the bottom.
I spoke to an Adobe rep on chat and they said this isn't currently possible.

Allow to create both circumscribed and inscribed ellipses with Convert to Shape effect
When using the convert to shape tool / ellipse:
Select circle imported from PDF that has 100's of points around perimeter. Use convert to shape, ellipse option. If I set the tool to "relative", and the value to zero "0", then the converted shape should match the original. Instead, the shape is larger, because it is using the size of the box inscribed in the circle instead of the diameter (or width and height). Please fix this.

Bring back spacebar 'move' functionality when 'alt/option' is pressed (to access Anchor Point tool) while using Pen Tool
I realize this is a very specific request for a small piece of functionality that was probably never very popular, but it's part of a workflow I got used to using for years, and since upgrading to CC, it no longer works.
When creating a new path with the Pen tool, using the spacebar enables you to move the anchor point you've just created (before you release the click). Also, the Anchor Point tool allows you to do the same when you click on a point and drag the handles out.
My issue is that the Anchor Point tool doesn't retain this functionality when you access it by using the shortcut 'alt/option' while the Pen tool is selected. I'm not sure if this was simply an oversight, or if there is a reason for disabling it. I've searched for a way to enable this tiny feature, but don't think it's possible with preferences (please let me know if I am incorrect).
The ability use the 'alt/option' key to access the Anchor Point tool, WHILE retaining the ability to use the spacebar to toggle back and forth between moving handles and moving the point itself - makes for a very efficient use of the pen tool by minimizing clicks to switch back and forth between tools.
Since the Anchor Point tool still allows this functionality when selected directly, I don't see why it shouldn't act the same when accessed through the 'Pen tool + alt/option' shortcut, -like it did in CS5.
Please bring it back!!!

You have to release the Option/Alt key first after dragging out the handles, and then start holding Spacebar to reposition the point.

Shortcut to toggle visibility of a certain layer with guides or a template
More often than not I use a Guide layer on top of my canvas on multiply, to see the guides and what I'm doing at the same time. With a shortcut there would be no need to open the Layers panel and click the visibility button to preview what I'm doing. There could be a special type of layer that could be hidden on export and have this feature or the shortcut could ask to specify the layer to hide/make visible.

Artboard spacing only feature
I often have my artboards grouped very specifically and they do not have an even number of artboards in each row. When I need to rearrange the space between all my artboards that becomes a huge hassle.
I'm forced to choose a column number, which alters my arrangement of columns/rows.
The ability to turn off the "column" preference and only alter the artboard "spacing" would be very helpful.4 votes -
Please add option thickness and color options for the text cursor
Why is the cursor so thin that it can not be viewed? Make it thicker as you zoom out or add an option to change it or it's color.

Export to resolutions below 72 PPI
Currently export to raster formats seem to have a 72 PPI minimum. For making thumbnail versions of art, it would be great to be able to export to lower resolutions. It is a drag to have to use Photoshop to do a job that it seems like Illustrator could easily do by itself.
4 votesIndeed, currently Illustrator allows to export only some formats with lower resolution (4 PPI minimum), using Export As dialog — PNGs, JPEGs, WebPs...
Meanwhile, TIFF, TGA, PSD is capped to 72. These are not available in Export Assets / for Screens dialog.
Save for Web (Legacy) does not have a way to assign a resolution at all (since the value has no meaning for screens, as is left blank — it gets treated as 72 PPI by most viewers).

Show image output dimensions before exporting with Export As
Under File > Export > Export for Screens and > Export As, it would be great to be able to know what the output dimensions will be when selecting 150dpi, 300dpi or a custom resolution.
Often I will need to export images from various source to specific JPEG or PNG dimensions. This will save the step of exporting, checking the dimensions of the output file, then adjusting the output resolution or resizing in Photoshop.

Full stroke style capabilities in touch workspace
The stroke currently only lets you adjust the size of it, you should also be able to control the style of that stroke, whether you want it to be dashed or the shape of it in the touch workspace.

Placeholder text relative to your document
When you choose the type tool and click, the placeholder text defaults to 12pt. This means that the text is tiny if you have a large artboard (see attached). It would be cool if the placeholder text was sized relative to your artboard instead, so that it's easy to see and work with.

Adjusting the curve of the "type on the path" and be able to keep the type from distorting
This was actually a feature that USED to work on previous illustrators, since this month's update (October 2018), it stopped working. Basically, you make a circle shape, then you type on a path. But sometimes you want to be able to adjust/transform the curve (while keeping the Type same size and proportion) to see how it would lay without distorting the type. *Not the same as holding shift because that just keeps the curve the same shape, and it also make the type bigger or smaller. See image for a mock up of what it should look like in action. In yes row, if you transform A - B, see how the type stays the same size and proportion? It's just how it lays on the curve that changes. There use to be a command you can hold to do that. The "no" row is what is happening now when you try to adjust the curve with the type on it. Please bring this feature back!

Add trim marks back to artboards like in previous versions
Add trim marks back to artboards like in previous versions. As a print shop we use these everyday to quickly and accurately resize artboards so center crop marks and registration marks are not too close to the art when we print films. Not sure why this was even removed.

Rotate tool - centering bullseye needs to be larger
So it's easier to grab, if you don't get your mouse exactly, directly on it to move it, everything rotates where you don't want it

Add more options to preferences
Every time you guys change something on these programs it seems to affect me. Most of the time it is not in a good way. I believe this could be solved by allowing the user more options in preferences to turn on and off these options.
For instance.
You changed the way the the zoom in and zoom out works. It used to be it would just zoom out directly from where you are but now it zooms out from the object selected which is very annoying.
I'm sure that works for some people but if it was a preference option they you could set it to your liking.
I just downloaded the new version yesterday and right off the bat I noticed the align tool does not stay on the align to artboard like it used to. I align constantly when I design and would like the option to change the align to option without it changing on its own to default align to selection.
Personally I use all the options just would like it to stay on the last selection I made until I change it. This could also be resolved by allowing an option in preferences. I think you should make all options that are changed like these a preference option. That's my two cents.Every time you guys change something on these programs it seems to affect me.
